Wow, just saw it on her Facebook fan page. Can't believe it but then again, it's no surprise.

Jennifer Pierce
Want to share some news with you…after a lot of thought and prayer I have decided to put my family first and will be leaving News 9 and the news business sometime in March. It was a tough decision, but my kids have to come first. I want to thank everyone at News 9 for 5 fantastic years and the wonderful support my coworkers have shown me. As I enter this next chapter of my life, I want to thank all the viewers… couldn’t have done it without you!!

This is from her Facebook page.

Jennifer Pierce was easy on the eyes and the only reason why I watched KWTV. I always thought that Jennifer was more beautiful than Miss America Lauren Nelson.

News 9 is losing a lot of news anchorsIt certainly makes one wonder what's going on behind the scenes...

Thirteen years ago, when I was helping develop the software that drove their direct-from-the-chaser live video capability (first aired in 1998 when that twister moved through OKC and took out the WKY radio tower; Bobby Payne had the first unit and sent shots of the funnel moving across Lake Hefner Parkway), I spent a lot of time in the studio testing things. At that time it was a very happy place, lots of joking during the commercial breaks, and no noticeable amount of ego-stroking. Doesn't sound like that may still be the case, though...

What's the big deal? TV news is very hard on family relationships. Think about it...when you finally reach the top of the local broadcast news heap and you're the main news anchor for your station, where are you? You're working nights and on-call 24/7. Sure, you're making a lot of money, but so what? How much are your kids' soccer games and school plays worth? What price do you place on family holidays? It sounds to me like Jennifer chose her family over her job. In my mind, she made the right choice.

+1 though I don't have a clue whether local anchors make decent coin or not considering the hours they put in and the freedom/privacy they surrender to their employers and public.

Hate to rain on everyone's parade, but she might not be leaving for 'family reasons'.

Like most news anchors they play musical chairs every 3-5 years (because the public likes nice fresh faces) and it appears that her contract is up and News 9 is letting her make a graceful exit. Think of how many other anchors said the same thing and then showed up somewhere else a year later.

Senior anchors and WX people make beyond decent coin. Some of the biggest asses are behind the scenes people. Mostly because the business is a people grinder. Use you up and spit you out when you are tired of the crap

Man, that's a fact! Most anchors are sweethearts compared to some of the other folks at the station. Years ago, one of our audio operators was sitting at the switcher when the director came in. The director said, "What are you doing in my chair? Get back to your board!" The audio operator said, "I was just testing a theory. It seems like everyone who sits in this chair immediately turns into an azzhole so I was just checking to see if the same thing happened to me." LOL

I've always had a secret crush on Robin Marsh. She owns my heart.

Friday the 16th is Jen's last day. Also, the 14th is her birthday, so get your well-wishes in now before it's too late. She's been tight-lipped about what her next venture is. I wish her much success and a chance to lead a more normal life.

I would be upset and sad if Christina Eckert, or Amanda Taylor were to leave news 9

Sounds like a certain director I know... the only one I have ever yelled at during a newscast..
