I predict, with absolute certainty, that the OSU Cowboys--despite the fact they are coached by an oversensitive regarding iconic symbolism kinda childish and aggresive guy and so forth--will prove the veracity of my observation that the OU Sooners cannot play successfully in bad/challenging weather.

I am not sure what the score will be . . .
I am sure that OSU will win this year.

Dang . . . I wish I still gambled . . .

Worried . . .?
No . . . Not at all . . .
Just and simply a former "(CU)Buffalo Fan" c. 1973
who has a firm grasp on "reality".
And past performance of "OU Football".
Sort of. =)

So how many points . . .
Nevermind. =)

No matter which team wins tomorrow . . .
I will cheer. Silently.
And maybe even "gambol" when I am proven correct. =)

I could . . . But like (or as) I said . . . =)
OSU Wins Tomorrow.

And I don't gamble . . .
What was that whole "odds laying" as compared to "playing the spread" thing about . . .?
I can't remember . . . I'm old . . . and infirm . . . 'cept for: Pick OSU fer shure. To win.

(Dang: If Bedlam wasn't once in England I'da thought a comment like that there came straight from it.
How come they don't call this contest Bellview?)

Edited to Add:
[If Al Eschbach hasn't already said something like that, no rights are reserved.]
Except, of course, for the right to declare OSU the Winner in advance. =)

OU grad rooting for OSU in this one. Acknowledge the injuries, but, OU has been somewhat disappointing this year. Expectations extremely high w/losses to supposedly lesser teams.

Hmm. Hard to say which OU team shows up. The big game one and this could go into OT or something like OU 48 OSU 42. Something tells me it will be closer to OSU 35 OU 17.

Nah, lots of folk lay off a small long shot bet on the off chance it might pay off. Upsets can and do happen. That said, I might lay soda money on the Sooners, but I sure wouldn't lay the house or electric payment on 'em for tonight.

There's our answer: the bad OU team showed up and OSU is just the better team overall.

OU is being beaten by a better team this year, simple as that. Of course the loss of major players helps OSU, but this year OSU is just better on offense and OU is kinda soft really. That's why I am kinda glad we lost so that we would not experience another 55-19 beat down like we did at USC. We'll be back, but until OU gets TOUGHER we will lose to more physical teams like the LSU's ALA, Wisc etc

adaniel

Yep OSU is clearly the better team.

I'm a glass-half full person so I'm confident a disappointing season like this one will finally push Stoops to make some changes that he has put off for too long (I'm looking at you conditioning coaches and Brett Venables). Either that or OU risks sliding into a Notre Dame-style decline living off of its past glories.

At this point, a 55-19 beat down tonight would actually be an improvement for the Sooners. Painful. Not unexpected, but painful all the same.

It's sort of fascinating, like a slow-motion train wreck. You can't make yourself look away, despite the carnage. The OU fans will be pulling the old "it's not really a rivalry when it's 82-17-7" balm for their wounds.

My entire Vision of the inevitable Victory of OSU in this contest
was predicated on The 12th Man On The Field (The Weatherman) . . .
and he didn't even start knocking on the door until the 3rd Quarter.

I may have been wrong about Mike Gundy too.

Very much a big congrats to OSU. They did everything they needed to do to raise doubt about another Bama/LSU match up. Hopefully it will be enough. If there, there is a chance KSU could go to Tempe instead. How would that be as a welcome back for Bill Snyder.

For OU. It is time to retool. Venables is done as a defense coord...or should be. Huge changes to offense needed as well. Bell not brought in until final 3 minutes? That is stupid. Landry wasn't performing...you bench the kid. You have to adapt and keeping kids in that arwnt performing when you could get the future starters quality play time in a high stress setting is huge. Heupel might be in danger if we have another weak season. No excuse why OU should look like a FCS team against a FBS team. First things first. Fire brent and bring brother Mike back. Enough seasons with soft and porous defenses.

At the end of the day thank you OSU, Baylor and Tech for keeping us from a repeat of the 04 NCG.

Not to detract from the theme of this thread but I wanted to share a laughable comment I heard today while watching the SEC championship game. One of the commentators said that even if LSU and Alabama played in the BCS championship and LSU loses, LSU should share the championship. Talk about ridiculous.

I hope OSU continues to improve and becomes a consistent challenger to OU and TX in the soon to be weaker big 12. The conference needs to replace stout programs like Neb and TAM with at least one or maybe two nationally significant teams to remain relevant

This is getting pretty old saying the Big 12 is weak or getting weaker. Sure losing Missouri and TAMU stings, but not that much. From a football perspective though Colorado was worthless. Nebraska was definitely an icon, but had struggled for years. Missouri was always middle of the pack with a few big game moves. TAMU hasn't been able to get its footing to really make a charge for the a division title in years.

So we replace them with West Virginia and TCU which have had similar histories of being ranked for years and going to BCS bowls some of those. You aren't going to find many big football schools that are going to want to switch conferences anymore. Will the Big 12 remain relevant? Of course. Even in a crappy year like this year with the traditional powers OU and Texas hurting, we were still the 2nd best conferences and even best overall depending on the time of year.

Yes we need a couple more teams to fill out to 12...and Cincy and Louisville are probably the best options for that. Of course if we could talk Notre Dame into it that would help from a tradition aspect, but not so much relevance to current times. Those schools would give a nice northern branch to WVU.

What would have been even more laughable was if LSU lost to Georgia and the BCS championship had two non conference champions playing for the nat'l title

adaniel
12-04-2011, 01:49 PM
Most computers had the Big XII as the second best conference for most of the year, just behind the SEC. I know there was a week or 2 when our ranking was #1.

Losing A&M and Missouri is just cutting the fat. I think we can make a pretty good run as a conference in the future with WVU and TCU.
