(CNN) -- NBA players and owners appear to have reached a tentative deal to end the lockout.
"We've reached a tentative understanding that is subject to a variety of approvals ... we're optimistic that will all come to pass and that the NBA season will begin on December 25 -- Christmas Day -- a triple header," NBA Commissioner David Stern said Saturday.
But more work lies ahead.

Light at the end of the tunnel finally.

The only thing missing from this scenario is a heartwarming Christmas special on Lifetime.
Heck . . . They still have a few weeks to put something together . . .

This is great news! I woke up this morning not even thinking about it and I find out that the NBA will have a season. It's starting to look a little like Christmas.

Fantastic

Amazing what can happen once the spouses announce just how much their personal shoppers spent on Black Friday.

SI.COM has an interesting article about how the new agreement will affect each team. This is their take on OKC:

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
Can this team afford Kevin Durant, James Harden, Serge Ibaka and Russell Westbrook under the new system?

Wouldn’t it be appropriate if changes, including a super-harsh luxury tax, designed to limit big-market spending ended up costing the small-market Thunder a piece of their four-man core? The conventional wisdom says Oklahoma City can’t afford to add big-money extensions for Westbrook (a restricted free agent after this season) and the Harden/Ibaka duo (each a year behind Westbrook) because such moves would tie between $50 million and $60 million (as the deals mature) to just four players. Fill out the roster, and you’ll cross the tax line– something a tiny-market team can’t do, the thinking goes.

But the tax and cap lines will rise if revenue jumps as the league expects, and if that happens, it’s possible the Thunder could be the San Antonio of the 2010s — only with four highly-paid players, instead of three, flanked by guys on bargain-basement deals. And remember: This question gets at profitability and revenue sharing, from which the Thunder should benefit.

Personally, i couldn't care less about the pissing and moaning going on in the NBA. No one in the mix has any real problems...players with multi-million dollar contracts and owners still making plenty....we've got people that don't even have a job or are loosing their homes and these guys are playing Oliver North....whatever.

I'm just glad to see it over and am ready to get back to some basketball. All the salary crap just pisses me off..the game ends up being more about money than the sport. maybe if they capped salaries at 100K, we'd see some real basketball. Lord knows you don't NEED enough to live in Gallardia.

The first half of this post reminds me of that Justin Timberlake song (which I'd rather forget but not thanks to ^^^) "Cry Me a River...". Enough with the nitpicking, sure they all make more than us mediocore Oklahomans. Just be happy for basketball!

Jealousy rears its ugly head.Really! I'm perfectly happy with what I make and the life it affords. But if I had a talent that could bring millions I'd jump ALL OVER IT. And if everyone were honest they would too.
