I now have electricity in my area so I have water and air conditioning. I will return to the house tomorrow. I'm settled in here at the Holiday Inn and it will take an hour or more to cool the house down. Plus, the room is paid for. The fire department spokesman said at 5:00 that they were in a "mop up" mode so that's a good sign. There was one bad flare up at 99th and Midwest BLVD but they got to it pretty quick.
OKCISOK, have you done much scanning? It is really time consuming and I have done some of my pictures but I am retired and need to get busy and get it done.

C T, by now you should be back in your air conditioned home. I have NOT scanned any old photos. Since my grown kids seem to think that it's easy I think I'll just give the job to them. Something like being forced to leave your home (or not being able to get into it) must certainly make one wonder what exactly is important in there.

The house is cool, the beer is cold, life is good. I even think my frozen stuff survived. The power was out about 28 hours but my ice in my ice maker didn't melt, at least not much if any. There is no one guarding the roads now so I guess this danger is over. I suppose new fires could start, but I won't worry about that. It's a way of life if you choose to live in these rural areas. I think okcisok has inspired me to get busy scanning and also making dvds from my boys school years. I purchased a video camera in 1980 and have about fifty tapes, six hours each of their activities. And I have the ability to transfer them to dvd, but it's a slow process as well and I have procrastinated on that too. I guess you could say this is a wake up call for me.
