I've collected a huge pile of limbs and placed them at my curb after the big Edmond storm. Expected the city to pick them up 2 weeks ago. I live at Coltrane and Coffee Creek. Anyone have a clue what the delay is?

You need to give the City Hall a call and ask them the question. Most likely, they didn't do that special program or you live too far out (Coltrane sounds like a country road).

There is no delay, there is simply so much storm damage it is taking quite a bit of time to get to every neighborhood. The city of Edmond has even hired private contractors to assist city crews in getting it all picked up. They are swamped, so please be patient.

(I have a family member at the city of Edmond who is overseeing the the project. We were just talking about this on Saturday. He said the amount of downed trees rivals damage from recent ice storms. FFIW)

And thunder is wrong, on both counts.

Nope, I said its either one of the two. Basically, I am right. I was on Coltrane a few months ago. Dark road, no lights, and a bunch of trees. They'll be serviced last.

While Coltrane itself is not well developed, there are many large subdivisions just off Coltrane and is in the middle of the storm damaged area. I too live off Coltrane near Danforth and our neighborhood ( of a couple of hundred homes) is still buried under the piles of branches as well. We are definitely in the area which the city says they will pickup. We had so much, we paid someone to haul much of it off the day of the storm. We were basically trapped in our house (at least our cars were) by downed trees on our driveway. We had someone come immediately to get the downed trees cut up, and hauled off. One of the trees that we lost was a native oak, that was way too big for our wimpy chainsaw to cut up. It wasn't until the next day, that we heard the city was going to haul it all away. We were mad that we'd paid someone to do something the city said they would do for free, especially when the city had said it would be done the Monday following the storm. Now we are glad we did, because we had so much, it covered one entire side of our front yard. After all this time, all of our grass would be dead, if we had waited for the city.

I did see a story on the news the other night that the city had hired private contractors to speed up the cleanup.

Thunder, I'm not sure what you mean about "Country road" but the location mentioned is in Edmond city limits.

Whew, they finally picked up the brush pile yesterday, now if I can only get some grass to come up in that spot before winter hits.

I had tree branches in my big green trash bin and they wouldn't pick it up either!

We fill our green cans with all kinds of branches all the time, and they always take them on regular trash pickup days. The only time we've ever had a problem was when it was really hot and the green plastic the cans are made of got so hot that when the driver picked them up to empty them the big claw thing that picks up the cans would completely squish the cans and nothing could fall out. It happened a couple of times this summer. The second time it happened, I just happened to be outside trying to drag the full can back on to the curb, when the garbage truck drove back by my house. The driver saw me wrestling the still full can and stopped. He said that from where he sits in the truck, he can't see if the cans actually empty or not. He explained that on the older cans, the plastic is too soft and this happens sometimes. He said if we ever have stuff left in the cans, we need to call them and they will come back out and make sure they get emptied.
