Brian, do not worry. Bostonfan is just jealous of not being able to get a puppy. Probably his parents said so. When he turns 18, he might get one on impulse, but without training and experience, which will be quite frightening.

Soooooo...you have surrendered three animals in the last few months and you are getting another one.

This is the reason people have to jump through so many hoops to rescue an animal.

Good luck, Taz :(

All our animals are rescues. There were no 'hoops.' We filled out a single piece of paper and paid some nominal fee and got a dog each time.

Did I not just read on the first page of this thread that you had two cats and a dog, and now you no longer have any of them?

Surrendering animals = giving them to someone else to permanently care for.

You need to learn how to read. I had two cats, but I had to relocate them early last year. Nothing wrong with that. The doggy technically belong to my brother, but he doesn't even pay into his care. If you knew how to read, you will learn that the doggy is 100lbs and I have no space for him even if I wanted to take him with me. Learn to read, please. Its been about two years and now I decided its time to safely adopt a puppy.

People just need to learn how to read, learn how to stop being jealous, and learn how to be a civil citizen of the United States of America.

Sorry, Thunder, I did read the thread, and I read Midtowner asking if you were homeless just a few weeks ago, and I read you saying you surrendered your two cats. I do not know your history, so I don't know all the little stories as to why you do not have your pets anymore.

It's not that I'm jealous. I have a dog and a cat of my own, I foster dogs, and help place dogs for a rescue. It's that I care deeply about animals and your opening post in the thread included the words "Before people lash out at me..." which makes me think that others would see you as an unfit pet owner at this time.

Thunder

No, I was saying that Bostonfan is jealous, which he clearly are with evidence of his action on here.

I had medical problems that resulted in some financial strains for a while. I opted to stay with ex-mom for a while, but she did not want cats in the house, so I had to place them in a good home. They are totally safe and doing just fine. Before I moved out on my own for about 5 years, brother brought home a free puppy (which is the doggy in the videos). His home has been there for years, so I can't just take him away.

It is only Bostonfan thinking that all animals die under my care. He only says that out of jealousy rage. Most people on this forum had already ignored him (a feature that prevents us from having his posts appear on our screens).

I'm not homeless. I just had a slight tough time in finding a place. All is fine now.

Some places make it pretty easy, fortunately. The shelter here is really reasonable--my boyfriend and I looked at a dog for him one day, and were able to bring him home the same day, which I found surprising (and refreshing). The shelter I worked at in my hometown required a pretty extensive background check to ensure they were placing appropriate animals with appropriate owners, and the breed-specific rescues I've worked with are even tougher to obtain an animal from. I agree with the antics...I just sadly see why people take the easy road and go straight to a breeder.

Brian, you need to bring them to your favorite market soon!

BBatesokc

The little one is Poco and the larger is Chip. We used to go to the MWC dog park, but too often there were irresponsible dog owners who thought it was funny when their dog exerted an abundance of dominance of other dogs. It was always the stereotypical 'tough guy' Pit Bull or Boxer owners. And that's a shame because I love Boxers.

Instead we just violate city leash laws take them to empty parks or an area lake and let them run wild. We just took them to Austin for Labor Day and they went nuts at several dog parks at the lake and in the hill country.

If I am dysfunctional, then explain how I can handle many tasks?
If I am not able to take care of myself, then explain how I am still alive?
If I am not able to take care of animals, then explain why you still have delusional thoughts?

Victim Protection Order

I'm a victim of cyber-bullying, unfortunately.

I'm not sure that you'd qualify under the statute. He's not a family member, spouse or a person you've been romantically involved with as far as I know and you haven't yet met the requirements to get past those requirements if they don't exist.

Besides, you'd have a hard time getting a judge to issue you a protective order against someone on an online forum whose name you don't even know.

In short, it doesn't do you much good to make empty threats of legal action.

On the other hand, if you are feeling harassed, a PM to the offending party or a mod to help calm the situation down seems to be a better course of action than the one you've chosen.

Oh good grief! If telling someone he is unfit to care for a dog due to his many issues he has spoken about for months on an online forum which leads any sane person to believe, at this time, he is dysfuntional, then I guess I'm guilty. Jeez, I've heard it all now.

On the other hand, Thunder has attacked me by falsely accusing me of threatening his life. This is beyond ridiculous, crosses the line, and should've been handled by the mods. But of course, it's well known, that Thunder plays by different rules than everyone else on this fine forum.

I drove 70 miles north to get him. OMG, he is so frickin cute!!! He's actually a lot smaller than the pictures shown him to be. OMG!!!!!! When I first held him, he was scared, then warmed up to me quickly. Visited with his mommy and daddy, they like me, so I feel great knowing that they know Taz will be okay with me. Visited with the lady for a while and she even offered me $50 back, but I rejected. On the way back, Taz did not even want to stay in the passenger seat, so I held him and even sang some random songs while petting him. He's sleeping on me right now and I'm so frickin tired. Its been a hectic weekend, especially today.

Thunder

Yes, Neel's Vet in North OKC on MacArthur, but I just found out that the only vet I trust is no longer there. Her husband is still there. Considering that or the Reno Vet in Midwest City on Reno, but experience there with Lee had me suspicious when they will only give him shots in the back without being able to observe. I'm convinced they give blank shots...not the real deal. I will look into your vet choice.

Taz is already attached to me. I took him out walking and he followed me just fine.

Midtowner
09-11-2011, 11:18 PM
Neel is awesome. We had a cat which kept getting kidney stones blocking its urethra. Totally awesome cat, worth the money. Ended up having some pretty expensive complications, which Neel ate about 1/2 the cost of. A $2,500 surgery (with complications) easily could have cost us $5K or so. You're good there. Dr. Neel, who was our vet, has a great practice going and I'm sure would only employ high quality vets.

Also, for what it's worth, I'm no longer skeptical about your ability to care for this dog. Seems like you're being very proactive and making good choices.

BBatesokc
09-12-2011, 06:16 AM
We also use the Southside Dog, Cat, Bird Clinic - best prices I've ever seen. We took our two dogs a few days ago and got both of them their annual shots, nails trimmed, a checkup and had a small mass checked on the larger dog. The total for both dogs was only $47.

Taz is a smart poodle. Taking him walking around the market letting him get used to the area and interacting with people here. He follows me just fine. Uses the training pad nicely with some accidents (#2) from change of food brand. I trust Purina, not Pedigree.

What if OSU beats OU this year. Does Taz want to be Boomer Looser?

Anything is possible, as OSU has beaten OU before but OU has won the vast majority of the Bedlam games (82-16-7).

Quick questions
1) How many Big 12 championships has OSU played for and/or won
2) How many bowl games has OSU played in and/or won?
3) How many major bowl games has OSU played in and/or won?
4) how many National Championships has OSU played in and/or won?

Not to take anything away from the vast improvement to OSU in recent years. The only time I root against them is when they are playing OU (the same can't be said for some OSU fans).

OU has lost more national championships in a single night than OSU has played in throughout its history.

There was an OKCTalk friend came by today to check up on me and other stuff. He just absolutely love Taz the Poodle! He mentioned how much smaller he was despite how the pictures shown him to be. Ah, as much as you love dogs, you ought to rent the movie called, "Hachi, A Dog's Tale". It's a heartwarming story about a dog's undying loyalty to its dead master until the dog itself dies. Largely based upon a true Japanese story.
