View Full Version : Crap....OU #1 Pre-Season Coaches venture 08-04-2011, 11:51 AM We are screwed now. :-P http://eye-on-collegefootball.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/24156338/31103912 Easy180 08-04-2011, 12:16 PM Only one way to go unfortunately...One loss and The Sports Animal will blow up with calls earlywinegareth 08-04-2011, 12:20 PM We gots two roads to the national championship. Road 1, lose at FSU but win out the rest of the way and hope the teams above us lose at the right time. I think this is likely. Road 2, run the table and take care of bidnezz. This is what I want of course. If we lose to anyone besides FSU, we're toast. ou48A 08-04-2011, 12:27 PM Fret Not OU fans. Embrace the expectations, do your best job ever in cheering on the OU team and enjoy the journey. It’s never easy to go unbeaten but OU has worn the target better than anyone. Since the start of the AP poll OU has won more football games than any major college football team along with 7 national championships and a all time 43 conference championships. Since the start of the AP poll in the 1930’s OU has been rank #1 more weeks than any other team in the nation. PS: My season tickets arrived today. OKCisOK4me 08-04-2011, 01:27 PM Only one way to go unfortunately...One loss and The Sports Animal will blow up with calls I think the best thing for this state is for UO to be undefeated going thru and up to the OSU game. If they lose, us Cowboys will be happy because it'll be our 12th win in the all time Bedlam Series & if the Sooners win then it'll be the same ol', same ol' for us Cowboy fans, having to listen to crimson n' cream fans talk about how awesome they are as they live their lives vicariously through their favorite football team, lol. ou48A 08-04-2011, 01:41 PM I think the best thing for this state is for UO to be undefeated going thru and up to the OSU game. LOL With an OSU win over OU isn’t vicariously living what you are hoping to achieve?:bright_id lol OKCisOK4me 08-04-2011, 01:50 PM LOL With an OSU win over OU isn’t vicariously living what you are hoping to achieve?:bright_id lol I'm not ruining your thread buddy. Get over it. Don't get me wrong, football is NOW about the only good thing going on up at OSU and I'm a basketball guy. Hence since I'm an OSU fan, I don't live my life through my teams like you do. You're probably the type of fan that gets his car keyed by a Texas fan or his parts ripped off cause you can't handle a decent conversation about other teams in your conference. Best of luck to you guys. venture 08-04-2011, 02:17 PM Someone apparently didn't see the "LOL" or smileys. Then again, the heat makes us all grumpy. :-P One of the good things...#3 and #4 play each other week one, so either Oregon or LSU are going to be working towards the top with 1 loss. ou48A 08-04-2011, 02:18 PM I'm not ruining your thread buddy. OKCisOK4me 08-04-2011, 02:20 PM You know what the funny thing is though? You and I probably root for the same NBA team so lets cheer your quest4eight now and hope the season that is played downtown starts soon enough. Don't hate me. My other 75 OU friends don't. ou48A 08-04-2011, 02:32 PM You know what the funny thing is though? You and I probably root for the same NBA team so lets cheer your quest4eight now and hope the season that is played downtown starts soon enough. Don't hate me. My other 75 OU friends don't. I don’t hate you, not even close but even though I appreciate its value to OKC I hate the NBA. But vicariously or not I will look forward to this season and enjoy it regardless of record,,,,, just as I usually do. ou48A 08-04-2011, 02:33 PM Word is that for the very first time Schmitty didn't deem conditioning tests necessary today because of the great summer the players had. GOOD STUFF OKCisOK4me 08-04-2011, 02:38 PM I don’t hate you, not even close but even though I appreciate its value to OKC I hate the NBA. But vicariously or not I will look forward to this season and enjoy it regardless of record,,,,, just as I usually do. I will look forward to our season as well, especially for combos of our new uniforms. Best of luck to you guys until that last game in December, that is. ;-) ou48A 08-04-2011, 02:44 PM OU Players having a good time at todays practice http://www.soonersports.com/allaccess/index.html?media=252822 OKCisOK4me 08-04-2011, 03:39 PM Someone apparently didn't see the "LOL" or smileys. You're referring to the lol, in my original post, right? LOL dmoor82 08-04-2011, 03:53 PM OU has been #1 atop the polls more times than any other program in history, so this is nothing new and we embrace it!Does that mean OU will win it all this year?NO,but the same could be said about any team who was atop the pre season polls!Like I said this is nothing new for OU and since WW2(modern era)There is not another program that stacks up,wether it be National Titles,Heisman Winners,Conference Titles,Bowl Appearances/Wins,Winning Percentage,etc...... Pete 08-04-2011, 04:06 PM Glad to see practice starting again!! It's at this point of the summer I can start to see a light at the end of tunnel. Fall is my favorite season of the year and can't get here fast enough! Just the facts 08-04-2011, 08:33 PM Maybe the Oklahoman can come out with an 'OU uniform picker' to take our minds off being ranked #1. dankrutka 08-04-2011, 09:52 PM The last time OU was preseason #1 they played in the title game... Just saying. BDK 08-04-2011, 11:38 PM Here's hoping Nila Kasitati leads the team in that chant after pre-game stretches. Bill Robertson 08-05-2011, 07:41 AM The last time OU was preseason #1 they played in the title game... Just saying.True but the last time they won the title they started the year outside the top 25. The preseason rankings mean nothing. 12 games from now we'll know how good we are. Roadhawg 08-05-2011, 08:57 AM The last time OU was preseason #1 they played in the title game... Just saying. How did that game turn out? Bill Robertson 08-05-2011, 10:52 AM How did that game turn out? There were a lot of frosty cold adult beverages consumed. In sorrow. At least if I remember right that would be the year USC beat the (blank) out of OU in the title game. ou48A 08-05-2011, 11:36 AM How did that game turn out? And that season would be considered an overall OU success. For all other programs in our state it would be a miracle season and something their fans have never experience in their entire life. dmoor82 08-05-2011, 12:29 PM And that season would be considered an overall OU success. For all other programs in our state it would be a miracle season and something their fans have never experience in their entire life. And we experienced it 4 times in under a decade!IF OSU went the NC game and lost by 50 the pokes fans would be having parades, carnivals, naming children after Weeden and Blackmon and Gundy and 100 years from now the would tell stories about how one time OSU went to the NC game! OKCisOK4me 08-05-2011, 01:18 PM How did that game turn out? I saw a full grown man cry... Roadhawg 08-05-2011, 01:38 PM And we experienced it 4 times in under a decade!IF OSU went the NC game and lost by 50 the pokes fans would be having parades, carnivals, naming children after Weeden and Blackmon and Gundy and 100 years from now the would tell stories about how one time OSU went to the NC game! Yep... The Huskers who won 3 NC's in 4 years and missed the 4th by a field goal. Just the facts 08-05-2011, 02:02 PM Yep... The Huskers who won 3 NC's in 4 years and missed the 4th by a field goal. ...and have won 11 games in a season 2 times since. 2010 10-4 #20 2009 10-4 #14 2008 9-4 NR 2007 5-7 NR 2006 9-5 NR 2005 8-4 #24 2004 5-6 NR 2003 10-3 #18 2002 7-7 NR 2001 11-2 #7 2000 10-2 #7 1999 12-1 #3 1998 9-4 #19 dmoor82 08-05-2011, 04:17 PM Yep... The Huskers who won 3 NC's in 4 years and missed the 4th by a field goal. ^^Lets compare traditions!OU- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sooner_football dmoor82 08-05-2011, 04:20 PM NU- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebraska_Cornhuskers_football dmoor82 08-05-2011, 04:31 PM Looks like of Nu's claimed 5 National Titles two are shared,One with Texas and the other with Michigan.OU claims 7 undisputed National Titles, but does not claim 6 National Titles that are shared,UPI etc....!OU has more National Titles,Heisman's and wins the head to head series. While NU has more overall cfb wins(5 more seasons than OU)but still has a lower win%,they both are knotted at 43 Conf. titles,NU has more consensus All-Americans.Pretty close,I'll miss NU now that there in the Big 10 and that leaves no equal to OU in the BIg 12 now!I Love how NU fans thought they were going to win the last ever Big 12 Tiltle game and pack up a leave, but it's OK to be OU's last victim!http://ts1.mm.bing.net/images/thumbnail.aspx?q=1057811543192&id=fb6703bc345363aefbc1ccf10c0f45d1&url=http%3a%2f%2fmedia.lawrence.com%2fimg%2fcroppe dphotos%2f2010%2f12%2f05%2fBig-12-Championship-F_Bell_tx400.jpg%3fde97d428c8c3338c9bc0af6f8274518 af8cc7401 dankrutka 08-05-2011, 06:14 PM How did that game turn out? In 2003 OU lost a tightly contested title game by one touchdown with an injured QB in a virtual road game. Why do you ask? |
