Maybe I've just missed it because I've been asleep on here for years, but anyone know what's going in the old Starbucks space? They've build a nice, enlarged and enclosed patio, new landscaping and new interior, but can't figure out what restaurant is going in here.

Osteria ... an Italian restaurant that just opened a couple of days ago. I believe it is owned by the same group that owns En Croute and St Mark's Chop Room. I can't wait to try it out.

Haha right. I've been so busy running my business these last few years, been super hard to contribute. Every now and then I'll lurk on Twitter or FB just to see what's new, but unfortunately haven't got to contribute like the old days. I'm still in the loop though. LOL.

Are you sure that's where Osteria is going? I thought they were more tucked back in with EnCroute & St. Marks, not front and center.

Osteria is where the old Starbucks was. We went Saturday night and had a great meal. We then walked down to the Merret, a new champagne bar, that opened in the old Luxe spot next to En Croute.
Soonerinfiniti 12-07-2018, 03:56 PM Looks like work has begun on the tenant space adjacent to Hopdoddy - any word on the tenant?
sooner88 12-07-2018, 03:57 PM I've heard rumors of a Mi Cocina coming, no way to back it up though... possibly in the Mamasita's lot.
MagzOK 12-07-2018, 08:32 PM I've heard rumors of a Mi Cocina coming, no way to back it up though... possibly in the Mamasita's lot.
Oh I certainly hope so!
Swake 12-07-2018, 09:19 PM Oh I certainly hope so!
Why? Mi Cocina is expensive and meh.
progressiveboy 12-08-2018, 12:22 PM While taste is subjective with food, Mi Cocina is very popular in the DFW area. Expensive? Not really. It is good solid Tex-Mex. I believe they have a restaurant in Tulsa?
Thomas Vu 12-10-2018, 09:20 AM I think there's one here too?

For some reason when I do the Google search it comes up as La Casa de la Abuela.

Yes it is on 15th just east of Peoria.

I grew up eating at Mi Cocina in Dallas and really like it. No, they don't have free queso. . . :)

$18 for chicken fajitas? $20 for steak tacos? And they aren't special, the food is about as good as a bunch of other places with much lower prices. The room is nice and the service is good, but the food doesn't live up to that, even though the prices do.
I live in Tulsa and queso isn't free here, except at Ted's and that's not queso. Queso in Tulsa is generally queso blanco and you have to pay for it.

Those are comparable prices to Barrios and Uncle Julios, which I would compare it to.
CloudDeckMedia 12-14-2018, 04:00 PM How is there parking for three restaurants in this area? It's already very tight. Pete - do you know the available spaces serving these spaces, and NH code for restaurant parking?

I've never had trouble finding parking, at least during lunch. I'd imagine dinner service is even easier. Sometimes it takes a small walk, but there's no need for more parking.
BG918 12-31-2018, 03:29 PM Just realized Provision Kitchen closed, apparently happened last week.

Dob Hooligan 12-31-2018, 06:14 PM I feel a touch of melancholy at another part of the city moving on from the life of Aubrey McClendon. But, he may well have made the same move (possibly earlier) had he lived and remained at the head of the Chesapeake empire.
Pops was clearly having financial trouble.

Soonerinfiniti 02-07-2019, 09:02 AM Slapfish Restaurant is going in next to Hopdoddy. https://www.slapfishrestaurant.com/
I was hoping for a breakfast place or something that wouldn't directly compete for parking with Hopdoddy. That lot is going to be a madhouse!

soonerguru 02-07-2019, 11:45 PM The Slapfish menu has some intrigue, but they serve tilapia. Why??
jbkrems 02-08-2019, 08:42 AM Tilapia is a great fish. Wish they had a larger portion of it, though.

No doubt. Interesting comparing the two munu's. Seems like Slapfish is more of a lunch place with a very limited number of choices. Tacos, Burrittos, meh. While Bonefish has a broader selection of seafood and styles.
roci28 03-21-2019, 09:23 PM Looks like Slapfish has opened. There were some people in there tonight. Are they doing a soft opening?

Yes. They were training staff last week.

I'm sure they'll be moving.
They are in Casady Square now and that is only a 2/3 miles away.
shawnw 03-22-2019, 02:37 PM they are moving entirely, have a friend that works there and they've been working on the move for awhile now.

Yes. They were training staff last week.
Went there for lunch today but they weren't open. Something about a maintenance issue. Hopdoddy was packed.
Naifeh is running an ad in the Gazette that says they plan to open in NHP in Feb.

Shame. Their location now is so beautiful. Must be too expensive.

I think a Braum’s was about to open across the street from Valerie. And Casady Square just sold. Pete could speak to the plusses and minuses of Casady Square, but Nichols Hills Plaza is attracting the premiere local retailers right now.

That's what the NewsOK article mentioned, that there was just too much square footage. I'm curious who ends up taking that space. I think a Crate & Barrel or some other kind of higher end furniture store would be interested.

Oops - sorry. Thought we were still talking about Valerie Naifeh. Yes, Bob Benham has said that the size and rate were both too much for his needs.
Dob Hooligan 04-10-2019, 05:50 PM Please help me to understand: Naifeh is running an ad in the (Award-Winning, Best Publication In OKC) Oklahoma Gazette saying the are planning to move In February. And the question I have is that February 2019 is past. So, are they planning for April 2019, or later? Or are they planning for February 2020?

They had run that "February 2019" ad in the past along with some others.
They rotated their ad to this particular version for an issue a few weeks ago and I'm sure they forgot about that date/line.
To be honest, we should have caught it on their behalf before it ran. I believe it only ran one week.
I'm sure they now don't have an exact opening date; their window just says '2020'.

Naifeh Jewelers is now open.
thunderbird 07-29-2019, 03:17 PM Signage going up today on the new strip mall, just east of Starbucks for a Mercy urgent care.
Might be helpful I guess to have in the neighborhood.

Yes and the remainder in that building will be a Chicken Salad Chick restaurant.
Balliets is now open in NH Plaza.

Edmond Hausfrau 11-16-2019, 09:25 AM Small beef. It used to be possible to walk from any of the shops in Nichols Hills Plaza to the former Mamasitas. I naively thought that it would remain pedestrian friendly. I tried to get a coffee from the new Starbucks and stroll outside through the mall. But because of how they placed the drive thru, access is fenced off. I get that car business trumps lil old me on foot but just seemed like one of those small design flaws that has unintended consequences.
Spencer Stone Co. has closed for good.
There are going to be more.
