Does anyone know anything about the Asian Eternity Buffet in the old Golden Corral building on N May? They have been remodeling it for month and no sign of it opening. We have a new Taco Bueno and a Chick-fil-a, and the Sunflower Market is going well, but no buffet opening in sight.

I was under the impression that they had remodeled and opened and then the next time I drove by it looked like they had closed and were un-remodeling (there was a new dumpster outside the doors that I hadn't noticed before). Think the last time I drove by, that dumpster was gone and the place appeared abandoned. Didn't go thru the property to investigate further.

However, my impression may be way off base and they could be doing something like Laredo's did when they relocated to Belle Isle. While not a remodel, they were under construction for a few years (think the article stated 5 years) before they finally opened.

They remodeled somewhat but never opened. I would have seen it if they had. Please no more massage places. We have enough of them around.

The place looks like a cheap club and has the name of a massage parlor

I have to laugh a little. After wondering how long it would take for the restaurant to open, on their first night we have a major thunderstorm come through and the whole area lost power. Great way to end your first day of business.lol I haven't been there yet. There weren't near as many cars there as I had expected, so I'm going to wait for a few days to see if business gets better.Did anyone try them out?

I tried Asian Eternity Buffet on the grand opening day before the storms hit. I thought it was very good. I'm not a picky eater and can eat just about anything so I might not be the best judge. It was interesting to see how the interior was redesigned compared to the old Golden Corral. When I arrived for early dinner (about 5:30pm) the parking lot was almost empty with very few diners. I did notice more diners arriving as I was eating. I did not try the Mongolian grill even though it was manned and available. I will admit the sushi was very good for a buffet. My only complaints were the dining room was too warm which I can overlook because it was 106 F outside and that there were no crispy noodles available to garnish the soups (I had the hot and sour soup). I did notice that there was no ice cream or frozen yogurt which I don't care about but is usually a staple at Chinese buffets. There is a Braum's right across the street if you really need ice cream. I plan on going back this weekend.

Was there today and short story, I will go back.

Longer story...

Value for the Money
As posted above the prices were reasonable, even for a value for the money guy like me. Total lunch tab was under $8 (don't think they charged me for the drink). But soft drinks were only $1.15 or $1.50 more (free refills)

Food
Not a huge fan of Asian/Oriental cuisine, so saying I will be back is a compliment. Just about everything I had was tasty. items sampled included. Black Peppered Beef, Ribs, General Chicken, Chicken Sticks (long 1-piece skewered chicken strip), Fried Rice, Mexican Chicken (very spicy), Roasted Buttered Potato Wedges, Fried Mozzarella Cheese Sticks.

Fresh fruits I tried: Cantaloupe, Honeydew and Watermelon, all juicy, just amount of firmness/ripeness and all were tasty. Other fruit based selections were present (peaches in syrup, some sort of prepared sliced bananas, grapes etc). Normal selection of salad dressings but didn't really see "salad" type items other than a bowl of whole lettuce leaves, black olives & roma/cherry tomatoes. Halved hard boiled eggs.

Variety of dessert items. They DO have ice cream but it isn't located over with the deserts. No soft serve, it is hand scooped but serve yourself. Blue Bunny brand including Cookies & Cream, Chocolate, Vanilla, Multi-flavored sherbet and maybe a couple more. The ice cream is just across from the sushi area.

They had a sushi area and Mongolian grill setup but I don't do most seafood items and just didn't get around to trying the Mongolian area.

Service
Hostess (April) was very cordial and friendly, the wait staff was infrequent. Generally not a huge concern at a buffet where you are doing most of the work yourself. Like Golden Corral, the waitstaff was primarily there for drink refills.

Decor
Easy to see why it took so long for the remodel. Besides changing contractors in mid-stream, while keeping the basic layout of Golden Corral, nearly all of the finishes were upgraded. New tile floors, new carpeting, new wall treatments (paint & wall paper). Mostly new buffet stations (except for the enclosed ones attached to the kitchen areas). But new counter tops etc. New booths, tables and chairs. Calming colors (various shades of greens & browns). Restraint was shown with the Asian accent pieces w/splashes of more vibrant colors. The only area that wasn't consistent was lighting fixtures. Most of the ones in the main dining areas were of the Crystal variety, some more traditional (candelabra style) some more modern down light, cascading pendents (but worked well together) then in on one side they looked like the cheaper plastic modernish ones from the 70s/80s. Thrown into the mix were modern blown colored glass pendants and more rustic Tuscan fixtures (in one party room, two of the rustic ones were flanking a very modern LED type fixture). Very "eclectic mix". Got the idea they were purchased at various times in small numbers over the remodel period, then when they went back to get more, they had been discontinued or something (unlike the booths/tabels/chairs that were purchased in mass).

Climate Control
Unfortunately it looks like they may have spent all of the money on the remodel and may have run out at the end. Immediately upon entering, it was Déjà vu all over again (Golden Corral had problems with the AC the last several months they wee there). It wasn't a deal breaker at all, just warmer than I would like. If you normally think places are too cold, then this will probably be just right for you. For me, I will probably wait until the outside high temps cool down into the 80s or even 70s to give the overworked AC systems a fighting chance.

Is there a buffet place, anywhere, which does not have an overly warm inside air temp?

In THIS heat it is getting harder to find, but typically the Hometown Buffet and newer Golden Corrals, pizza places etc are usually fine for me and my mom. My dad however freezes and has taken to carrying his leather coat with him even in this weather.

I'm intrigued. Fried cheese AND Mongolian bbq in the same restaurant? I might have to see this in person.

We finally tried Asian Eternity Sunday night. I couldn't believe the interior changes. The place looks really great. The food was delicious. We tried a little bit of most of the food except the sushi. I loved the Mongolian there. I have to agree with previous posts. The food was great but the air conditioning was lacking. I think they put all their money into the interior remodeling and kept the old air conditioner. We will go back.

Have been their twice and like previous posts the food is great but it is hot and the wait staff is not always the best but of course they are only their for drinks. The price is low and it rarely seems to be more than half full. Since im a single mother with two small children it is great to see that they actually have a security guard inside the buffet for the last hour or so, so I don't feel so worried walking in the parking lot when we are there late at night. Overall I would say 3 stars and I will definitely be returning
