Had dinner at Italian Jim's tonight in downtown Edmond.

They are having a soft opening before they announce a grand opening. The food is really good and the atmosphere is beautiful. Lots of brightly colored art and blown glass surround the restaurant. The service was very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I split a medium pizza and my two daughters had children's meals. Food and drinks were $39 before the tip.

It's open now and anyone can go. They just haven't made an announcement so that they can work the kinks out of their processes with smaller crowds.

What about Othello's? I heard they were closing the location in Norman. Is the Edmond Othello's closing down as well? How does Jim's compare to Othello's?

The Norman Othello's is closed, but there was some word that the owners of the Edmond one might decide to acquire and reopen. No clue on the strength of that possibility.

Can't compare myself, as I've never tried either the Edmond version of Othello's or Jim's

It's a done deal, the Edmond owners are definately taking over the Norman location. They will reopen after minor remodeling. cleaning and instalation of new equipment.

Hope they do well. It's been a very long time since I went there, but used to regularly hang out on the north side because the pub side was a haven for older patrons and did not attract the students back then. Not sure who the base was when it closed but there are fond memories

Yes, this is way more upscale/modernistic than casual. It's like dining in an art gallery. I usually favor more casual places but I really enjoyed the experience here.

I like the food at both locations. Italian Jim's food is more like The Wedge. I think Othello's is decent neighborhood Italian.

Italian Jim's atmosphere is more upscale.

Also, if you Like their Facebook page, they will let you know when they are having their evening glass blowing demonstrations.

Btw - I have no affiliation with the restaurant or it's owners.
