Costco isn't in Oklahoma. We're in the Dallas area, and we went to one of the stores here.

Obviously there is confusion from these "random thoughts" threads, or Facebook-like status posts, when they are not descriptive enough to say they aren't concerning OKC and that they are in another city. Perhaps we need a "Non-OKC" section of the forum or perhaps a Blogs section for people to post such threads. It is always welcome to hear thoughts on how other cities do things, but just need to make sure things are clear to say that it isn't about OKC but about another city. At least this thread wasn't started with just a link to some random page with no additional contribution to assist in the discussion.

Costco isn't in Oklahoma. We're in the Dallas area, and we went to one of the stores here.

We went to the mall tonight and saw Green Lantern. Before that we went to Sonny Bryan's BBQ for dinner. They say they are the best BBQ in Texas. Not sure if they are the best, but it was pretty darn good.

Which Sonny Bryan's? The original on Inwood was still the best when I lived down there 20 years ago. There was one in the tunnels downtown that I would get lunch at and one in the West End at that time. I have stopped at the one by Alliance Airport in Fort Worth heading back to Austin a few times.

The one we went to was on Preston Road in a shopping center. My husband went to another location that had school desks in it.

The Inwood location (just south of Love Field) has the desks.

Have you heard of Pete's Cafe on Belt Line Road? We ate breakfast a lot there. Norma's was good too. Pete's was busy all the time. I'm missing my Smashburgers sweet potato fries already.

Pete's Cafe on Belt Line is quite the breakfast place. It is rather small, however, that adds to the charm and originality of this nice clean hole in the wall diner. There pecan waffles are incredible. They cook the pecans in the batter so it makes them nice and warm. In addition, they serve their Belgian Waffles with warm syrup! Great breakfast Norma's is good as well. They make all their pies and pastries and they the best Strawberry Cake!

Wasn't directed at that thread specifically at all. However, a thread shouldn't be started with just a link and nothing else. If anything include the first paragraph of the story being linked and other items allowed by copyright restrictions. We may see one sooner than not here in Oklahoma City since we're in range of that distribution center. At least that's what I'm hoping for. I'd like to see a Five Guys here as well.. Next time I travel to get a burger it'll be to Meers where I hear they have an excellent 100% longhorn burger. I'm a burgervore so I love me a good burger experience.

It's personal preference. I've been to 5 Guys in Austin, I didn't think it was as good as some make it out to be and prefer Smashburger myself. I was not impressed at all by 5 Guys, neither was my wife. There were many other places in Austin (no Smashburger in Austin, San Antonio is the closest location) that we preferred to get a burger than 5 Guys.

Now that I live in Denver there are Smashburger locations everywhere and both have a location relatively close to where I live but only a Smashburger is close to my office in LoDo. I do have another place that I need to try that BG918 and a friend has recommended here in Denver, The Cherry Cricket.

I hear ya but I don't think 5 Guys needs to work on their burgers just cause their fries are excellent...Their burgers are pretty damn yummy...Not the best in the metro but certainly the best in Moore

It will be interesting to hear your take on Meers. My wife and I went there because Epicurious had rated their burger as one of the top 10 in the country. I realize it's a personal taste thing, but we think there are a couple here in OKC better than Meers. As for a "good burger experience", I will give it that, old time store, good burgers, nice atmosphere, but top 10? We didn't think so.

The Meers Store is good, the longhorn burger is good but I have also found them to be inconsistent. Sometimes great and other times just alright.

5 Guys is good, there are just other places that I prefer. If a group wanted to go there I would have no problems with that but it is not a place that I would choose to go on my own when I have other options that I prefer.

We decided after this last summer to move, it is something that we have been considering for five years and I have looked at off/on for twenty years. The temps/weather here in Denver is not as bad as most people seem to think. We had snow the first week working here but it was back up in the 50's in a couple of days. It was in the 60's on Friday and near 50 yesterday but still doesn't feel as cold as OKC when it is in the 40's. We went to Vail yesterday to see some snow, my wife had never seen that much at one time. The snows that she has been through in Monahans (near Odessa, Texas) and Lubbock are the winters that she has been through.

I am in love with Smashburgers sweet potato fries and their hamburgers are always so juicy and not over cooked like you get at some places. It's just my favorite between 5 Guys and Smashburgers. I have only eaten at 5 Guys twice, and their burgers were good, but the fries just average.

Since this thread has turned out to be a discussion of all kinds of burger places, have you guys ever eaten at Backyard Burgers? It was my favorite fast-food burger place. The one in my hometown closed, but I think there are still some in the Tulsa area.

We had a Backyard Burgers here in the city, but they had a fire and then when they rebuilt Freddies went in there.Backyard Burgers were good. I don't think there are any left in the city.

What is the Five Guys in Moore, down by Walmart. Ate at the one in Doral, Fl. Now Miami Lakes, Fl has 3 warehouse clubs within 10 miles. Sams Club, BJ's, and Costco. Shopped at all three. All have good points.

Smashburger's fries are a lot better than 5 Guys' fries. I would actually go there and just order the fries. Not so with 5 Guys.

I love 5 Guys fries, especially the Cajun fries. Didn't really care for Smashburgers fries.

The first time I went to Smashburger, I got the fries with rosemary & garlic. They weren't bad, but I wasn't particularly impressed with them. The extra flavor just seemed a little out of place. The next time, I got the plain fries. They were... well, fries. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst.

Finally tried In-N-Out yesterday. Ordered a Double-Double with onions and a vanilla shake. I forgot to order it animal style and I also skipped the fries. The diameter an In-N-Out burger is not too big. It is kind of like the diameter of a McDonald's cheeseburger. The Double-Double is close to 3 inches thick. You can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients which is very good. The onions were definitely fresh because I had "onion breath" after eating it. The vanilla shake was the same size as a small drink. The shakes are served in a green colored cup and drinks are served in a red colored cup. The vanilla shake was super thick, heavy on the ice cream and light on the milk (if there was any at all). My brother had a hamburger "protein style" which is the way to go if you are dieting. One bit of trivia that I did not know about is that In-N-Out will hide bible scripture chapter and verses on their paper products. They can get away with this because In-N-Out is still a privately held company. I'll keep a prayer vigil going that OKC will be lucky enough to land a In-N-Out restaurant some day.
