Oklahoma City Thunder Wander Town Aimlessly Looking For Place To Celebrate Big Win (http://www.onionsportsnetwork.com/articles/oklahoma-city-thunder-wander-town-aimlessly-lookin,20405/)

OKLAHOMA CITY—Following their Game 7 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday, Thunder players spent several hours wandering the streets of Oklahoma City in search of a decent bar or nightclub to celebrate the organization's first Western Conference Finals appearance. "We figured we'd eventually find something, but every place we saw was either closed, pretty empty, or really sad-looking," Thunder guard Russell Westbrook told reporters, adding that Yelp searches on his phone found mostly "nasty cigar lounges and bowling alleys." "You'd think there'd be at least one 24-hour diner or something. You guys just want to go back to the arena and play some more basketball?" After Thunder players spent approximately 45 minutes standing on a street corner asking one another if they were still up for celebrating—and trying to determine if Kevin Durant was serious when he suggested they all drive to Tulsa—the team eventually decided to just go home.

This is really bad for OKC. Extremely maddening to the owners/management of local places downtown to close early. DUH!!!!!!! It was Game 7!!!! STAY OPEN LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See what happened. We ruined it for our players. I say the people should start griping at the local places for what they have done. Really embarrassing.

Wait... The game started around 2:30pm. It was not that late... Then again, it was Sunday in the Bible Belt State. :-/

I agree - I would rather just go home and go to sleep than drive to Tulsa also.

That's crazy, kick your customers out during a game. I guess managers and everyone else are use to downtown being dead on weekdays so they made no arrangements to stay open later.

I do not appreciate Steve making that post. We do not need more embarrassment for OKC.

Good to see the positive response, although the owner should have offered free meals and drinks with proof of prior receipt for the next game.

Anyway, Steve, this could have been done privately instead of enhancing the embarrassment for OKC.

I see nothing wrong with Steve's post. It looks like the embarrassment got the appropriate results. Sometimes it takes a little embarrassment to accomplish that. It might have continued to happen otherwise and shows the public that we do have responsive businesses here. And the article I mentioned was in my link, thank you anyway, Thunder.
