View Full Version : Politics now excluded from "What's New?" search

Due to popular demand, I inserted code into the "What's New?" and "New Posts" searches that specifically excludes posts in the Politics forum but includes all the others.

For those interested in Politics, you'll need to go directly to that forum to see the most current posts.

For everyone else, you can now easily avoid seeing all those threads.

Any thoughts on creating a new membership level that includes the politics forum, but removes it for everyone else? Charge $5 a month for it and could get some to make a dent in the server bill. :-P With it being the 2nd busiest section on the forum, the demand would definitely be there I would think. Just a thought.

Praise Jebus. But where will I go now to hear the latest adventures of "BO" as told by some right-wing nutjobs?

I've asked Pete about this before but had no response. What does membership level mean? I've seen posters with different designations but have no idea why or if a different level is preferred for any reason.

I believe most of the different member levels are from when people voluntarily paid for expanded member rights and during donation campaigns (mostly from when Keith? ran the site).

Still sorting out what I want to do with the paid membership levels. Want to be able to give something for a paid membership rather than make it a donation.

In the meantime, everyone can completely avoid the politics topics if that is their desire.

Now that I see how to construct the URL I've made my own to omit all forums I don't follow. Excellent information.

It's because you're a lowly "Participating Member," my friend...Lol just kidding.

That's probably why I always felt so unworthy.

Looks like this is no longer the case... clicking New Posts now shows everything including politics. Is there any way for me to exclude everything in Politics from new searches? I tried a custom search, but it didn't work either.

I thought you were to use "Latest Posts" to exclude Politics

this changed after an upgrade around 6 months ago. clicking on "new posts" will show new posts from all forums. clicking on "latest posts" will exclude the politics section. -M
