Urbanized 09-07-2016, 03:20 PM If by "smoking" you mean that your clothes smell like an ashtray even if you just walk down the sidewalk past the open door, then yes. Teo9969 09-08-2016, 09:40 AM If by "smoking" you mean that your clothes smell like an ashtray even if you just walk down the sidewalk past the open door, then yes. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! That's too funny. :lol2: Bill Robertson 09-08-2016, 09:57 AM HAHAHAHAHA!!!! That's too funny. :lol2:But true! The Port Hole, Don Quixote's, Lumpy's and Cock O' The Walk are the smokiest bars I can think of. ctchandler 09-08-2016, 10:41 PM But true! I quit smoking in 1999 but still enjoy second hand smoke, but that place really gagged me. C. T. That's another place it just hits you when you open the door. shawnw 09-09-2016, 12:22 PM You forgot about Cookies... smallest space, so more "smoke per cubic foot" the way they jam people in there... Bullbear 09-09-2016, 01:07 PM Don't forget the Hilo.. same issue. .small space .. low ceiling. .LOTS OF SMOKE sooner88 09-09-2016, 01:19 PM By George's as well. Not as small as the last two mentioned though. Urbanized 09-09-2016, 07:13 PM Blue Note Pete 09-09-2016, 07:16 PM Red Rooster Urbanized 09-09-2016, 07:18 PM ^^^^^^ Or as I call it, the OTHER chicken. They think they'll lose their customers if they can't have smoking. What they don't ever seem to grasp is that (a) they won't lose a lot of customers, and (b) they'll gain a lot of customers who won't step foot in their business if it's smoking. For health reasons to workers and musicians (and larger systemic health care reasons), I support banning smoking in bars. How many major cities still allow it? I have no clue how common it is... To do that you have to deal with smoky, dumpy bars. Bill Robertson 09-10-2016, 09:34 AM The funny thing to me is that these businesses will fight to the end to keep smoking. I have no clue how common it is...I was really hoping the smoking ban bill introduced last year would have legs. But it died in the rules committee. As far as individual bars stopping smoking it seems mixed so far. I hear Baker Street is doing fine. Henry Hudsons Hideaway is talking about going back to smoking because business fell off so much since they went non smoking. Urbanized 09-10-2016, 10:09 AM I think the places that are still smoking are making great money right now because they have picked up business from smokers who were displaced from other bars when those establishments went smokeless. A lot of smoker-friendly places probably WOULD see drop-off if they go non-smoking because most of them aren't especially great places otherwise. What makes them special (for their clientele) is that they allow smoking. This...I mean, really, how many people are dying to go to Red Rooster and Hilo? ctchandler 09-10-2016, 12:47 PM I still go to all of them. Smoky bars don't scare me. I actually enjoy them as an ex smoker, but I was pointing out one I couldn't survive in with my health problems. I don't have any problem with the American Legion's smoking, but they don't put a lot of money in filtering the air, so I just don't go there. I can always count on Old Germany (Midwest City only) to get my dose of second hand smoke. C. T. dankrutka 09-11-2016, 03:24 PM This...I mean, really, how many people are dying to go to Red Rooster and Hilo? Red Rooster is really close to my friend's place in Edgemere and we would/will likely go there if/when they go away from smoking... I think they're doing so unless I'm misremembering. It could be a good neighborhood pub. Pete 09-11-2016, 09:01 PM I love the Red Rooster and was really excited when it looked like it was going to be sold, cleaned up and made non-smoking. As it is, I won't set foot in there. |
