View Full Version : Will Rogers World Airport - Eastside Commercial Development!
Zuplar 10-16-2014, 12:22 PM I think this infrastructure was probably a difficult task considering the location and the getting it set up for the aggressive future plans. I hope it doesn't take as long for development to start.
This area seems like such a prime spot to capture the SW-Okc retail tax revenue that is being lost to Moore and even Norman.
I 100% agree with you, and hope it's successful. I'm just not getting my hopes up right now. I'm all for them proving me wrong though cause this is right down the street from me.

Yeah but the City of OKC isn't in the retail development business so unless they offer tax incentives (which might be counter-intuitive), not sure if they can expedite the solution to the "problem".

Zuplar 12-02-2014, 12:03 AM I really wish they'd redo the intersection of 104th under I44. That thing is terrible. And do away with some stop signs since they plan on having a light 100 feet away.
OkiePoke 05-04-2015, 02:02 PM What are they doing North of 54th on the West side of Meridian? Looks kind of like rental cars or something similar.
^That's it. Off-site rental car facility. Being moved from the parking garage.

Good. I always thought the current location was pretty poor.
Is there anything currently planned for this area?

The Portland realignment from 74th south to 54th is under construction. There are no major tenant or construction updates at this time.
Just the facts 02-22-2016, 12:58 PM From 10/16/2014
It will be interesting to see how quickly that the commercial and retail takes off next year. Huge potential for this development and it's SW-OKC location.
Or not.

Or not.
Pretty much. For better or worse the Walmart across the street is probably what could spur growth. Seems like wherever Walmart pops up other stores follow. And we wonder why Walmart continues to be so powerful.
Plutonic Panda 02-22-2016, 02:36 PM I believe the city is still working on the Portland realignment. I know I drove on the new portion they recently opened up and it was awesome. I would have preferred it be built a six lanes, but I suppose they can always widen it. Not sure how development will start until they are done with entire road, however.
I would love to see an urban, walkable village type shopping center be built like planned and then some larger, big box stores with large parking lots or whatever built to the south.

I can't imagine how traffic in this area would ever require 6 lanes. 4 lanes with some occasional turn lanes should be entirely adequate. 6 lanes would be counter to your desire for an urban, walkable, village type shopping area.
tfvc.org 02-25-2016, 09:37 PM It reminds me of the Norman shopping center with 2 miles of a 4 lane windy road. I have a feeling it is going to be pretty similar with stores.

And really that's not a bad area in Norman, so I wouldn't mind that. Very busy though.
Plutonic Panda 03-24-2016, 09:55 PM Looks like the rest of the Portland realignment went out for bid so the final part should hopefully be starting soon.

Hopefully once this is done we will see new announcements regarding development of this. Couple of good gets would be Super Targer, Costco, Gander Mountain, and an Ikea or Nebraska Furniture Mart.
ChrisHayes 08-22-2016, 09:13 PM What kind of overall development are we looking at here? Is it just going to be commercial such as stores, or are we looking at warehousing, distribution, industrial, etc?

Closest to the interstate will be retail and commercial. Midway office. Runaway access is direct aviation.

Is there newer maps than what's on google?
Plutonic Panda 08-23-2016, 12:30 AM Is there newer maps than what's on google?
Yes it is this website: https://www.terraserver.com/
It's pretty cool but might take a second to load if your internet is slow.
_Cramer_ 08-23-2016, 09:43 AM I doubt we would land a Nebraska or Ikea. We're right in between their locations KC and Dallas. Four hours either way.

So I wanted to see if my new building is in the latest, which according to the date and the thumbnail it should be, but I can't get it to show up on the map itself even though it shows selected. Is there a trick to get it to show the latest image? It's still showing the equivalent of Google which is March of 2015.

Just wait a second and let it load. Sometimes it is slow.

Yeah I let it sit for awhile and I'm at work with a very fast connection. Only way I could view is pretending to purchase.

Hmmm. Try clicking on the older views then the newer ones. Some areas are more outdated than others. Example if you view Pauls Valley, the imagery won't be as new as Downtown Oklahoma City.

catch22 08-23-2016, 09:31 PM Google has been good about getting updated imagery up, so if this has made it to terra server then Google will probably update their soon.

That's what I was thinking. Normally update it once a year and it's been closer to 2 at this point.
Plutonic Panda 08-23-2016, 10:09 PM Terra seems to update their a couple times a month or so.
