Steve 04-10-2013, 08:46 PM Wow, they are not messing around on this project.
They are almost at the same place as the Aloft which started almost a year earlier.
Be kind to Jim Thompson - the Aloft was delayed for months by the bankruptcy of a Texas concrete contractor....
:)
OKCisOK4me 04-16-2013, 12:18 AM View from Sunday evening:

What you didn't see is that after I took that photo, someone nearly hit them pulling left as I went straight. No one was hurt though, but I noticed haha :)

and not wearing helmets...
LakeEffect 04-16-2013, 11:23 AM and not wearing helmets...
Why is that a big deal?
kevinpate 04-16-2013, 11:37 AM Took a bit for me to spot rider 4. Time for new specs perhaps.
Rover 04-16-2013, 01:14 PM Why is that a big deal?
Oh it's not....unless they hit a pothole or make a mistake, fall and hit their head on a curb or something. As long as nothing goes wrong, it isn't a problem....but nothing ever goes wrong, so all is good.
Mississippi Blues 04-16-2013, 01:16 PM Sarcasm is funny unless someone uses nothing but sarcasm. :p

Any of that could happen to someone walking around. Perhaps all pedestrians should wear helmets.
Just the facts 04-16-2013, 01:25 PM From the movie Wild Hogs
You guys aren't gonna wear helmets?
- I don't wanna wear a helmet.
Maybe I don't want anything
between me and the road.
You will if your head falls on it.

Yep.

glad I'm not the only one. Still not sure i actually see the 4th rider. 4th bike - sure :)
LordGerald 04-16-2013, 07:08 PM Why is that a big deal?
It's not. We all know that Joe Bob Leland Jeffries, III, in his brand new Ford F-250 Diesel, with gold trim, talking on his cellphone while driving west in the late afternoon sun, respects the principles of intermodal transportation, and honors sharrows and "bicyclists may use full lane" policies.
catch22 04-16-2013, 07:27 PM I was at a Redhawks game last weekend, the streetwall against the ballpark looks awesome, will look even better once the brick is laid for this development.
Not sure if I like the gap between the two buildings, but it's much too late for any discussion on that.
For those who are saying it was a mistake to not have balconies...I'd agree for the Hampton Inn...but the bulk of this hotel does not even overlook the ballpark. The tower itself is pretty distant to the east, any balconies would overlook the parking lot behind.

If you get run over by a careless Joe Bob Leland Jeffries III in his brand new Ford F-250 Diesel, a helmet really won't make a ton of a difference. Lol
Not saying I disagree with you & that helmets shouldn't be worn because I do think they should be worn, even on a biking trail where there are no Joe Bob Leland Jeffries the III's driving their monster trucks with the setting sun in their face.

I apologize for getting off target. I was just in a mood. Getting back to point: Will the Hilton Garden inn and Homewood Suites offer a rooftop event place that will allow for cocktails during a baseball game? Seems like a natural fit.

It would be a nice add-on. I was watching the Chicago Cubs - San Francisco Giants baseball game on Sunday & across the street there was a 10 or so story building of some sort that had balconies facing the ballpark & every balcony was full of people watching the game. It was quite comforting to see all those people enjoying the game even though I'm in Oklahoma City & the game was in Chicago.

Or, like a friend of mine who had a bike malfunction at Lake Hefner trails and hit his head, winding up in the emergency room with a bruised, bleading and swollen brain. Nearly life threatening. No stupid drivers to blame it on.
Back to subject....this project is really speeding along. Can't wait til the project on the old Stewert site begins too. That will really lengthen Bricktown.
Plutonic Panda 04-16-2013, 08:54 PM glad I'm not the only one. Still not sure i actually see the 4th rider. 4th bike - sure :)There were four, trust meh. :)

Green Windows?????
Just the facts 05-06-2013, 10:43 PM I don't really care for the green windows, but that's a pretty trivial complaint. This project looks great!
You know, for some reason the green windows don't really bother me.
Architect2010 05-07-2013, 01:29 AM Are those windows green or is that a protective covering for the glass as they begin to brick their way up the facade? I think the latter.
OKCisOK4me 05-07-2013, 01:31 AM I've got to think it's protective covering, just like when you purchase a new product.
Just the facts 05-07-2013, 08:06 AM Are those windows green or is that a protective covering for the glass as they begin to brick their way up the facade? I think the latter.
Someone from the construction industry would need to provide the technical term, but that is just the backing material the exterior finish will be attached to. The same material is used on the Aloft. The building will not be green when it is done. OnlyOne and I were just having fun.
HangryHippo 05-07-2013, 09:00 AM There's a film over the window panes, but in person and from up close, those windows absolutely look green.
jn1780 05-07-2013, 09:17 AM The window frame looks green both in that picture and in renders.
Rover 05-07-2013, 04:29 PM I've got to think it's protective covering, just like when you purchase a new product.
If you get mortar directly on glass and wipe it off it is very easy to leave tiny scratches which can cause the window to shatter as it expands and contracts. So, this most likely is just a protective coating.

Yes, that is what I was exercising but thank you for the confirmation to my original thought ;-)

UnFrSaKn 05-13-2013, 03:27 PM Did a bunch of photos and.... video... today. Photos will be up shortly. Video will be longer. I got a new camcorder and back in the video update game again. Look for more videos soon.
UnFrSaKn 05-13-2013, 04:15 PM I'm still uploading but gotta run to OCU for the RetroMetroOKC meeting. I'll make Sets for these later but feel free to post photos Pete.

Anonymous. 06-06-2013, 08:25 AM This is going to be done before Aloft...
Spartan 06-06-2013, 10:32 AM Pitman will probably be onto another fantastic development before long.
This is going to be very successful, AND why we owe it to guys like Pitman and Thompson (who are in downtown for the long term) who agree to build to a higher urban aesthetic to protect the value of their investments against carpetbaggers like the Candlewood developers. We need to be choosier about approving hotel projects.
HangryHippo 06-06-2013, 11:12 AM Looking at some of Will's photos, I found myself wondering why both of Pitman's hotels are shaped like L's.
Spartan 06-06-2013, 06:57 PM The floor plate is very simple as it's just a hallway with suites on both ends. The L is the best way to maximize the site's footprint while just building one hallway.
traxx 06-07-2013, 01:34 PM I like the brick on this building. It looks more warehouse like, more lived in. The brick on the Hampton Inn next door looks too pristine. It looks like a rendering.
