AMC Theater $1.6 million.

Helzberg $150,000.

And the Mall Entrance project is $5.3 million.


That's a lot of money being spent on that mall.

It seems there is a lot of shifting around and that Microsoft has to wait until everyone else is settled.

I forgot to add Gymboree is now in the former suncoast in a presumed temporary location, and Sara Sara is unfortunatly still in the mall right in the old Sonic space. Also I found out that Auntie Annies is indeed gone while the Muse store and Lucca are appearently moving out

Glad to see the Microsoft Store is coming online. I never doubted if it was happening, it was just a guessing game of when.

The Microsoft store is going into the Bachrach space -- I'm sure of that, or at least that was the plan when the building permit was filed.

Not sure what is going to happen to Bachrach.

Someone educate me on how you spend $3.5 million on a 6,500 sq. ft buildout not including fixtures in an existing space? I'd like to be the contractor on that project. I've worked in marketing/real estate for national companies and that just doesn't compute for me.

Microsoft is planning to make a big splash here.. They are taking half of the Bachrack space and all of the Coldwater Creek space. They are also opening in tulsa

Re a&f, wish management would make them take away the heavy cologne smell. Can barely tolerate that end of mall when going to wms Sonoma.

There was structure work involved and perhaps it does include some fixtures, such as the massive, wrap-around video walls that line the perimeter of the front half of the store.

The video walls may be part of the building permit since they are semi built-in.

Have there been any details revealed about the Mall Entrance project? I looked back a few pages and found the News OK article, but it seemed a little light on any specifics.

I have no problems with the cologne of A&F when compared to the putrid smell of Williams Sonoma when you walk by. My friends and I all want to vomit every time we pass by that store. It's god awful...

Regarding the entrances, all six are being re-done. Also the main restrooms.

The bigger entries will get more glass -- an atrium like effect.

I know the foodcourt bathroom is currently under construction, as is the food court itslef. Maybe they are waiting to complete those renovations before starting the exterior renovations.

I have done some that have come close to that price per sf ($539/sf) in conference and meeting rooms, a ton of technology can drive up the cost quickly. From what I have seen in the store here in Denver it has much more integrated technology than the Apple stores which are minimalist, even in technology. Most of that type of built-in tech is probably in the GC contract.

I'll try and find an original floorplan.

Basically, it was John A. Brown and Rothschild's on the far west end and Ward's where Penney's is now.

The main area of smaller shops ran east/west from Browns (on right in picture below) & Rothschild's (on left) towards Wards. There was a courtyard in the middle where every Christmas they had a house for Santa.

It was enclosed as a single level mall around 1980 (I found the drawings in the vault at Benham one time), the expansion (second level, JCP, movie theater) was in the late 80's to early 90's.

JCP was added somewhere in the mid 90's. It was the very last major change to the mall.

Penn Square is just about the only local mall I can stand. I used to like browsing in that "New Age" place on the second level with all the plants and little waterfalls and trippy music. Can't remember the name of it . . . And Successories . . . And Franklin Quest . . . And was it the Pepperoni Grill by the entrance next to Penn? Wasn't The Sharper Image store in there at one time?

I remember a New Age themed store called Earth Home, but it was on the first floor near or at where the Apple Store is now. There was a Sharper Image near Center Court, I forget which hallway.
