View Full Version : Sad news metro 01-05-2011, 11:28 AM Anyone see in today's DO that Mayor Cornett filed for divorce? Bostonfan 01-05-2011, 11:35 AM Divorce is not a big deal here in the Bible Belt. metro 01-05-2011, 11:37 AM Let's not turn it into a religious thread, was just making a general statement since he is probably our most visible public figure MustangGT 01-05-2011, 11:37 AM Mega-Bummer. Been there done that, it isn't a good time of your life. Bostonfan 01-05-2011, 11:38 AM Ok, I was just making a statement as well. Patrick 01-05-2011, 11:40 AM Sad, but just shows you it can happen to anyone. Lord Helmet 01-05-2011, 12:00 PM mega-bummer. Been there done that, it isn't a good time of your life. qft Achilleslastand 01-05-2011, 12:11 PM I wonder if he still thinks its a great time to live in OKC? Jesseda 01-05-2011, 12:18 PM does divorces and marriages have to be listed in the paper, is it y choice, you would think if it was by choice it would bea private matter metro 01-05-2011, 12:21 PM It's public record, also there was a small article on it FritterGirl 01-05-2011, 12:29 PM Even if there is no article, the legal postings (court filings) are always posted in the paper. Same with birth announcements and death certificates. Jesseda 01-05-2011, 12:29 PM sad, i wouldnt want my divorce public, thats why i was asking if it had to be listed in the paper Midtowner 01-05-2011, 12:48 PM This should be a private matter. I know his lawyer as an aside, he's a good guy. kevinpate 01-05-2011, 01:19 PM This should be a private matter. I know his lawyer as an aside, he's a good guy. If he were an average joe, blue collar or white collar, in any occupation that's outside the spotlight, it largely would be a private matter. Society on the whole takes a strong interest in the lives of those who live their life in the spotlight. Too strong in my opinion, but it's been that way as far back as I can remember, and then some. Midtowner 01-05-2011, 01:26 PM He's never been someone to make his family life into a public issue though. I disagree that public figures' entire private lives ought to disappear. Same goes for the Hon. Mayor as it does for Lindsay Lohan. Pete 01-06-2011, 04:23 PM While the divorce is public, I don't think it's a good idea to use the forum to speculate on private matters.
