Yes, although it is sad, it will be even more sadder when the nearby houses will be forced with evictions and soon to be destroyed. New businesses will take over.

Not for those that own the houses!

Thunder - not even on the plans. There were several homes that were bought out previously, but for something different. I'm not sure what wild planet you pulled that from, but there is no basis for that assumption.

Franly Bomber some of those houses on Air Depot and surrounding would be beneficial to MWC to raze and remove........

I attended 6th grade there in the late 60s, sad to see it go but glad to see all the new retail that is saving MWC from stagnation. I moved out in the mid 80s for greener pastures and I am just amazed at what they have done with it.

Well I do know someone that lived in one of the houses they moved previosly on those lots. They were basically forced out by the city for what was supposed to be the new fire station (or so they were told). Then after the homes were gone, they up and moved the fire station on Adair insteaf of Air Depot. The people were componsated, and it does free up land for a re-zoning should the city decide to do anything.

What's interesting, is those parcels of land that butt up to Air Depot are owned, not by the city, but by the Hospital Authority...remember the guys that own the land on 29th. They also own the West Side land now...although the records show the land was worth $0....something is fishy there.
West Side Elementary School Parcel (http://www.oklahomacounty.org/assessor/Searches/AN-R.asp?ACCOUNTNO=R150141725) So it's a bit stinky there....

If I remember, wasnt the entire 29th development steeped in controversy, lawsuits, chicanery, and miss truths?
I know that one property owner who was also a former council lady filed and won a lawsuit over some of htat property..........at least I think I know?

There was some additional brou-ha-ha concerning that parcel of land on Air Depot behind Mr. Spriggs (there was an old building with a dog groomer business, plus some other stuff). A local realtor and former city councilwoman (Pamela Barton-Stober, et al and House of Realty)) did sue and there was a settlement with unpublished terms.
Here are a few links with details, sordid and otherwise:
