View Full Version : OKC A to Z on PBS
Urban Enthusiast 12-01-2010, 01:45 PM Does anybody plan to watch the documentary OKC A to Z by Jack Frank tonight on OETA? I watched his Tulsa A to Z documentary last year and really enjoyed it. He primarily focuses on relatively obscure things, so it should be interesting to see what he shows for OKC.
Here's an article (http://www.okgazette.com/film/film/11-24-2010/Airing_soon_on_OETA_the_documentary_Oklahoma_City_ A_to_Z_spells_out_what_people_love_about_our_capit al_city.aspx) that was in the OK Gazette about it.
MustangGT 12-01-2010, 02:11 PM Worth a watch for me.
CaseyCornett 12-01-2010, 03:17 PM I was at Ingrid's while he filming for this. Thanks for letting me know it comes tonight.
cdbthunder 12-01-2010, 04:48 PM Got the dvr set up to record, thanks for the heads up.

Doug Loudenback 12-01-2010, 08:08 PM Jack Frank did some interviewing and videoing at a work session of RetroMetro Okc a couple of months back with this project in mind. I missed the 7 pm showing but see that it will repeat at 10 pm tonight. He does great work.
UnFrSaKn 12-01-2010, 10:07 PM Just happened to check this thread right at 10pm, missed the first five minutes. Thanks for the heads up.

Nice presentation...worth getting the DVD
CuatrodeMayo 12-02-2010, 08:25 AM I actually happened to stumble across it at the letter "E" and watched the rest. Excellent!
Doug Loudenback 12-02-2010, 08:59 AM I surely hope that it will be played again. If I find out anything, I'll post here ... perhaps others will do the same.
Urban Enthusiast 12-02-2010, 11:18 AM Well, I watched it last night. I thought it was a really nice production. He again focused on mostly "obscure" things, which is really refreshing, since that's not the OKC you usually see.
OKCisOK4me 12-02-2010, 12:00 PM Nothing like seeing this thread the day after it airs...
OKC4me 12-03-2010, 12:01 PM I missed it, but saw the DVD for sale at Walgreens!
metro 12-03-2010, 01:16 PM Nice shot of Rand Elliotts slick ponytail in there.
MikeOKC 12-03-2010, 06:51 PM I missed it, but saw the DVD for sale at Walgreens!
How much?
Urban Pioneer 12-03-2010, 09:24 PM Yeah, great program. Didn't know about Anne's chicken fry. The Christmas Hippo story was interesting. I asked Laura about it and she started singing the song! Apparently the story and the song has been passed along through down to the current generation of locals.
I knew about the BC Clark song because they made me play and record it on the bells donated by the Clark family at OCU. Ask people in Tulsa and they have no knowledge of it. Truly a local phenomenon.
Easy180 12-04-2010, 09:58 AM I actually happened to stumble across it at the letter "E" and watched the rest. Excellent!
Started around the same time...this stuff normally doesn't interest me but found that the wife and I were both trying to guess what he would cover for each letter
Debzkidz 12-04-2010, 08:11 PM Stumbled upon it while flipping channels. I think we came in during "N". I wish we had seen the entire program. Hopefully they will air again. Maybe next time we will stumble in at A or B.
Ayeager 12-09-2010, 11:48 AM I love this show! It is not airing again on TV, but you can get a copy of the DVD at Walgreens (in OKC only), Full Circle Bookstore, Borders, Pops or online at www.okcatoz.com. I bought the DVD and it has bonus features that are really cool. It would make a great holiday gift for those who love OKC.
Ayeager 12-09-2010, 11:57 AM I love this show! My favorite part was when he talked about OKC being an old sonic boom testing site.
It is not airing again on TV, but you can buy DVDs for $19.99 at Walgreens (only in OKC), Borders, Full Circle Bookstore, Pops and online at www.okcatoz.com.
