In Norman I believe several places have evening hours that day. Not real sure if anyone is open before say 4 or later

The library bar next to campus is open around 5pm and gets really crowded as the night goes on.

I think Deep Fork is usually open, so is Mimi's Cafe and a lot of the hotel restaurants.

I think the quoted reply may be a joke since I can not think of any true Jewish deli's in Oklahoma City. Dallas does not have many Jewish deli's either although it has a much larger Jewish population than Oklahoma City. Jason's Deli, McAllister's, and Ingrid's sell deli style food but I would not call them Jewish deli's.

Lots of folks do their big meal on the 24th, or another day when family can come together, or simply do not celebrate on the 25th for any number of reasons.
Others just don't wanna cook again, and some are relative'd out and just want some time outta the casa.

According to an insert in the paper, Marie Callender's in Norman will be open Christmas day from 10:30 AM -- 9 PM. In the past, Furr's was open; don't know about this year. We've also found some of the restaurants in the hotels to be open as well. Would suggest you call any of the places you like and see if they have Christmas hours. We went to the Furr's Buffet in Moore for Thanksgiving; line was long, but food was hot and fresh. Will probably go there for Christmas if they will be open--or may go to Callender's. With just the two of us, we don't do a big meal at home...although we have been known to have steak from the grill if the snow isn't piled high on the 25th!

Thanks everyone, my mother usually has all her kids and grandkids plus great grandkids over for the christmas gathering of food and all, but this year, she said her and my dad will be celebrating x-mas evening at one of the local casinos( can you believe that lol, i am happy they are getting out and evjoying life and having fun, but no christmas dinner common lol? she said she doesnt want to cook or clean up a mess). So my sisters family and my family is stuck lol, we dont want to cook either so we are looking for a place. oh well, i guess we are just stuck with ihop..

There are places that pre-prep traditional meals and you simply reheat at home. Boston Market comes to mind, and I think Marie Callender's may as well.
You could always change your mind and go big and order up turducken from Herbert's in tulsa.

Just sarcasm. I was shocked to have to work on Christmas last year and even more shocked to see people driving all over the snow just to buy a bunch of grocery on Christmas. :-/

Firelake Grand and Riverwind are both having buffets on Christmas Day. Firelake is serving from 11 AM to 8 PM, "traditional Christmas dinner items", for $12.95.

Golden corral and TGIF are usually open on Christmas.

We usually go to the Biltmore but got busy playing with the grandkids, so we went to Golden Corral. They were sadly closed and the only thing we could see open was Fridays.Since that is not my favorite place we ended up at Furr's. My almost most unfavorite place. By the time we got through the line it was closed and they weren't serving anything else after 6:00pm. I would have been happier at Denny's or almost anywhere else. The food was ghetto. I didn't eat much and later ate a bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, and to me that tasted better than anything. Comfort food works. Our Christmas was wonderful except for the food.

I was going to go to Deep Fork Grill, which was open, but my friend David invited me over to his parents' house, instead. We had a blast.

We had a lovely meal at Deep Fork. We made reservations for 5:30, and the restaurant was fairly full but not so crowded that it impacted service. I can see us repeating next year if we don't decide to travel to see relatives.

That's pretty lame. If there wasn't a demand then they wouldn't be open. I personally appreciate a restaurant, theater or retail store being open and obviously many other people do to. My son works retail and was thrilled to work it on Christmas afternoon. He signed up and got time and a half for the day.

That's your personal choice, and I won't begrudge it in the least.

From another perspective, when I was in food service, most pizza places operated on the same general pattern. We closed early Christmas eve, generally 6ish, and reopened on Christmas at either 5 or 6 (staff in a tad earlier for setup of course.)

I worked in several communities in OK and AR. No matter which company, nor which town, we never wanted for customers. Nor did others in our service area who would open. Some customers came because they did not observe the holiday. Some came because one age bracket of the extended family wanted to escape another age bracket of the family for a spell. Some came because they were not wanting leftover roast feast for dinner. All were welcome.

Many of our Christmas customers were also regulars with us after Sunday services. From our side of the counter, seeing folks weekly, and especially more frequently, was always a good feeling. We knew our customers always had other options.
