wschnitt 10-01-2012, 10:45 AM Im confused. Without spending the next hour going back and reading, the updated version shows the new tower to be taller, correct? Just the facts 10-01-2012, 10:49 AM Im confused. Without spending the next hour going back and reading, the updated version shows the new tower to be taller, correct? Yes, the new version is taller and has a wedding cake design. The bulk of the building was also moved closer to the main tower. CuatrodeMayo 10-01-2012, 10:53 AM From an architectural perspective, I am really excited about the Amenities Building. It is going to be quite dramatic. Pete 10-01-2012, 11:00 AM I was trying to figure out if that was what I was seeing. I hope you are correct. City code doesn't permit large set backs in the CBD. Yet this rendering does show the new building to have a deep set-back from Robert S Kerr. catch22 10-01-2012, 11:08 AM Yet this rendering does show the new building to have a deep set-back from Robert S Kerr. They appear to be building a streetwall in line with their tower along RSK. The south side of the Braniff building has a similar setback from RSK as the main tower, and the new building as depicted would have the same setback from RSK as the tower. The setback is 100 feet (!!). Pete 10-01-2012, 11:10 AM Yes, the Tower originally had that huge, cold plaza that has since been demolished. I know SR really wants good sight lines to the Tower, as this was one of the reasons given for demolishing the buildings near Robinson. Of course, the old India Temple building was right on both RSK and Broadway. catch22 10-01-2012, 11:15 AM http://gyazo.com/55f1e0ffc482c70cabc73e1cbc65b95b.png?1349107011 Just the facts 10-01-2012, 12:06 PM I think the setback is only limited to the front of the building. I don't think the intent was to make evey new building cover an entire city block. catch22 10-01-2012, 12:17 PM I think the setback is only limited to the front of the building. I don't think the intent was to make evey new building cover an entire city block. Of course. But you are still leaving a huge setback fronting a major through street. Just the facts 10-01-2012, 12:20 PM Of course. But you are still leaving a huge setback fronting a major through street. I agree, but what can you do? I have never been a fan of any part of Sandridge Commons. Pete 10-01-2012, 02:25 PM Just read that SandRidge plans to put it's name / logo on the Tower in the near future. Also, all but three flloors in the tower have been renovated and those will be done by April 2013. Mr. Cotter 10-01-2012, 03:13 PM Just read that SandRidge plans to put it's name / logo on the Tower in the near future. That's great. Hopefully, that will come with some sort of lighting. dankrutka 10-01-2012, 09:46 PM I know SR really wants good sight lines to the Tower, as this was one of the reasons given for demolishing the buildings near Robinson. It's interesting to me because I think the Tower is arguably the ugliest building downtown. Snowman 10-01-2012, 10:45 PM It's interesting to me because I think the Tower is arguably the ugliest building downtown. While it is bland, there are at least five that for me are uglier. Plutonic Panda 10-01-2012, 11:31 PM It's interesting to me because I think the Tower is arguably the ugliest building downtown.I don't think it's that bad. dankrutka 10-02-2012, 12:28 AM There are a couple buildings that are so bad I don't even count them, but the Sanndridge Tower wins because of its prominent place in the skyline. Pete 10-02-2012, 10:55 AM Cool photo by Sid that shows the progress on the landscaping plus you can see the old Kerr Park has been completely scraped and the foundation for the Amenities Building is going in: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-aPwRdVd3Dxg/UGsDsNvXGZI/AAAAAAAEZyM/iVgDKvTb4tE/s903/IMG_20120930_152143.jpg Bellaboo 10-02-2012, 11:10 AM I wonder if they are going to put a connecting tunnel between the main campus and the Amenities building.? Pete 10-02-2012, 11:12 AM I wonder if they are going to put a connecting tunnel between the main campus and the Amenities building.? No, that's never showed up in any plans and I'm sure they would be doing it now if it was going to happen. However, I'm not sure if this has happened yet but they were supposed to re-open the Tower entrance to the Underground at some point. I believe it was closed down sometime before K/M completely left town. ChaseDweller 10-02-2012, 11:12 AM For you guys worried about lighting, I believe the lighting will be returned once the Braniff Building and the landscaping is done. If you look at the SW part of the roof deck of the parkling garage, you will see the lights. They rebuilt that when they redid the parking garage, and I doubt they would have done that if they didn't intend to use it. There is another one in the center of the deck you can just see and another on the NW corner of the garage. I'll try and post some pictures soon. I also think the lighting from the SW will be on top of the metal canopy as they were adding that yesterday. ChaseDweller 10-02-2012, 11:32 AM Here's a picture of the three banks of lights. If you look carefully, you will see a worker in the center one. I believe some of them are on right now, but I can't tell for sure. 2687 Pete 10-02-2012, 11:36 AM Wow, I had no idea all three of those enclosed areas housed lighting for the tower. I like this building much more at night when it is all lit up. OKCisOK4me 10-02-2012, 11:57 AM Too bad that feature goes bye bye when they build their 20 story tower there! skanaly 10-02-2012, 11:58 AM Too bad that feature goes bye bye when they build their 20 story tower there! What if they could figure a different way to light it up? Lazio85 10-02-2012, 12:33 PM No, that's never showed up in any plans and I'm sure they would be doing it now if it was going to happen. However, I'm not sure if this has happened yet but they were supposed to re-open the Tower entrance to the Underground at some point. I believe it was closed down sometime before K/M completely left town. It is currently open and some passageways are blocked off for the moment that lead to the new Amenities Building. TechArch 10-02-2012, 12:52 PM What if they could figure a different way to light it up? I have no doubt that they will want to continue lighting the building even when they put in a new building there. If they are putting the lighting back on the parking garage that will soon be removed then they will surely find a way to place lighting somewhere on the new building. Pete 10-02-2012, 01:53 PM It is currently open and some passageways are blocked off for the moment that lead to the new Amenities Building. So, the Amenities Building will also be connected to The Underground? Just the facts 10-02-2012, 02:53 PM So, the Amenities Building will also be connected to The Underground? Surely they wouldn't deprive the employees of enjoying the Sandridge forest on their way to work out. PhiAlpha 10-03-2012, 11:50 PM Not sure if anyone noticed but the sandridge towers lights were back on tonight. skanaly 10-04-2012, 11:37 AM Not sure if anyone noticed but the sandridge towers lights were back on tonight. Urbanized 10-04-2012, 01:50 PM Crud. Beat me to it. Looked great; I think the lights were considerably brighter (and whiter) than the previous lighting. Pete 10-04-2012, 02:33 PM Could you tell if it was lit all the way around? I image they swapped out the old fixtures for LED models, which are considerably brighter but still much more energy efficient -- and they virtually never burn out. PhiAlpha 10-04-2012, 04:25 PM Could you tell if it was lit all the way around? I image they swapped out the old fixtures for LED models, which are considerably brighter but still much more energy efficient -- and they virtually never burn out. It appeared to be lit all the way around but I could only see it from three sides. It does look like LEDs were used, it seems much brighter and whiter than before. Tough to remember though after being off so long. Urbanized 10-04-2012, 06:30 PM Agree with PhiAlpha on all counts. I only saw three sides, but guessing the one I didn't see (east) was lit too, because it is the one currently least disrupted by construction. I'll know here in a bit. metro 10-04-2012, 10:47 PM Pics? UnFrSaKn 10-04-2012, 11:02 PM Yep.... Just got back from walking around for three hours... Look for them tomorrow. This morning when I came by around 7:00, it was low clouds and dreary out. In the past the spot lights would shoot up into the low clouds. It's not like that any more, kind of shows on the building only. Very pretty though. As a side note, they used to go off around 11:00 pm, but today they were on early this morning. Pete 10-05-2012, 08:54 AM the lighting makes that building look great at night Agree! Love the way that building looks all lit up -- much better than during the day. Nice job by SandRidge. David 10-05-2012, 09:00 AM Wow, that looks very nice. Urbanized 10-05-2012, 11:00 AM Makes a huge difference on the skyline to have it lit. Now if we could just get Chase (Cotter) and FNB (yeah, right) to do some lighting the skyline would REALLY pop. KayneMo 10-05-2012, 12:52 PM It's great to have the tower lit again, looks amazing! Mr. Cotter 10-05-2012, 01:24 PM At least Chase has a stripe of neon and FNC lights the beacon with flood lights. They could certainly do more. Leadership Square is the last dark hole in the skyline. What is it like inside an office in the SR tower when the flood lights are on? Is it soft enough you don't notice? KayneMo 10-07-2012, 02:55 PM http://i46.tinypic.com/am6go.jpg CaptDave 10-07-2012, 02:57 PM I love that angle! It makes the building look so much better than the rather plain box it looks like from most angles. One of my favorite things about this board is the amazing photographs of OKC so many of you post for all of us to enjoy. shawnw 10-08-2012, 11:55 PM Leadership Square is the last dark hole in the skyline. Do you not count the lit Enogex sign? shawnw 10-09-2012, 12:43 AM The difference a year makes... November 2011 2720 October 2012 2721 Differences: Sandridge Tower lit, Continental sign lit (more noticeable than old Devon sign), Enogex sign lit, Devon Tower lit, and, strangely, Oklahoma Tower roof lights are no longer lit... anybody know why? KayneMo 10-09-2012, 01:35 AM FNC is lit up again?! The north side of BOK Plaza isn't illuminated neither. Bellaboo 10-09-2012, 07:27 AM Oklahoma Tower not lit in the current photo either. The lobby is very nice. It's so muich more modern than the old KM lobby was. Materials look great and the finishes are all first class. Building looks good up close from the outside. ;) 2730 Pete 10-11-2012, 01:47 PM Haha... Nice ChaseDweller. Did they also make you climb back up?? :) Urbanized 10-12-2012, 03:43 PM LOL I'm one of the people on the sidewalk below Rumble in that pic. Mr. Cotter 10-15-2012, 08:50 AM Do you not count the lit Enogex sign? At least it's something now. I've just always thought a strip of light at the top of each level would look great on LS. shawnw 10-15-2012, 08:43 PM At least it's something now.
