Yes, the new version is taller and has a wedding cake design. The bulk of the building was also moved closer to the main tower.

From an architectural perspective, I am really excited about the Amenities Building. It is going to be quite dramatic.

I was trying to figure out if that was what I was seeing. I hope you are correct. City code doesn't permit large set backs in the CBD.

They appear to be building a streetwall in line with their tower along RSK. The south side of the Braniff building has a similar setback from RSK as the main tower, and the new building as depicted would have the same setback from RSK as the tower. The setback is 100 feet (!!).

Yes, the Tower originally had that huge, cold plaza that has since been demolished.

I know SR really wants good sight lines to the Tower, as this was one of the reasons given for demolishing the buildings near Robinson.


Of course, the old India Temple building was right on both RSK and Broadway.

I agree, but what can you do? I have never been a fan of any part of Sandridge Commons.

Just read that SandRidge plans to put it's name / logo on the Tower in the near future.

There are a couple buildings that are so bad I don't even count them, but the Sanndridge Tower wins because of its prominent place in the skyline.

No, that's never showed up in any plans and I'm sure they would be doing it now if it was going to happen.

However, I'm not sure if this has happened yet but they were supposed to re-open the Tower entrance to the Underground at some point. I believe it was closed down sometime before K/M completely left town.

For you guys worried about lighting, I believe the lighting will be returned once the Braniff Building and the landscaping is done. If you look at the SW part of the roof deck of the parkling garage, you will see the lights. They rebuilt that when they redid the parking garage, and I doubt they would have done that if they didn't intend to use it. There is another one in the center of the deck you can just see and another on the NW corner of the garage. I'll try and post some pictures soon. I also think the lighting from the SW will be on top of the metal canopy as they were adding that yesterday.

Here's a picture of the three banks of lights. If you look carefully, you will see a worker in the center one. I believe some of them are on right now, but I can't tell for sure.

Wow, I had no idea all three of those enclosed areas housed lighting for the tower.

I like this building much more at night when it is all lit up.

Crud. Beat me to it. Looked great; I think the lights were considerably brighter (and whiter) than the previous lighting.

Could you tell if it was lit all the way around?

I image they swapped out the old fixtures for LED models, which are considerably brighter but still much more energy efficient -- and they virtually never burn out.

It appeared to be lit all the way around but I could only see it from three sides. It does look like LEDs were used, it seems much brighter and whiter than before. Tough to remember though after being off so long.

Agree with PhiAlpha on all counts. I only saw three sides, but guessing the one I didn't see (east) was lit too, because it is the one currently least disrupted by construction. I'll know here in a bit.

I think the lighting has changed. This morning when I came by around 7:00, it was low clouds and dreary out. In the past the spot lights would shoot up into the low clouds. It's not like that any more, kind of shows on the building only.

Very pretty though.

As a side note, they used to go off around 11:00 pm, but today they were on early this morning.

Makes a huge difference on the skyline to have it lit. Now if we could just get Chase (Cotter) and FNB (yeah, right) to do some lighting the skyline would REALLY pop.

At least Chase has a stripe of neon and FNC lights the beacon with flood lights. They could certainly do more. Leadership Square is the last dark hole in the skyline.

What is it like inside an office in the SR tower when the flood lights are on? Is it soft enough you don't notice?

I love that angle! It makes the building look so much better than the rather plain box it looks like from most angles. One of my favorite things about this board is the amazing photographs of OKC so many of you post for all of us to enjoy.

Differences: Sandridge Tower lit, Continental sign lit (more noticeable than old Devon sign), Enogex sign lit, Devon Tower lit, and, strangely, Oklahoma Tower roof lights are no longer lit... anybody know why?

I got a unique view of the SandRidge Tower today. The lobby is very nice. It's so muich more modern than the old KM lobby was. Materials look great and the finishes are all first class. Building looks good up close from the outside. ;)
