First Watch, a Florida-based restaurant chain that serves breakfast, brunch and lunch, plans to open its first metro-area location this summer.
MultimediaPhotoview all photos The restaurant signed a franchise agreement with Dabbour Enterprises LLC to open three First Watch restaurants in the Oklahoma City area over the next few years. Lease negotiations are under way, said Ghassan Dabbour, Dabbour Enterprises’ president.
First Watch features a unique, health conscious menu laced with fresh fruits and vegetables; employees make the pancake and French toast batter daily, the company said.
The menu includes traditional favorites such as eggs, pancakes, soup, salad and sandwiches alongside signature items such as the Chickichanga, a crispy flour tortilla filled with whipped eggs, spicy chicken, chorizo sausage, green chilies, cheese, onion and avocado.
The focus on low calorie and low cholesterol entrees will likely be successful in the Oklahoma City market, Dabbour said. He has more than 30 years of restaurant industry experience, most recently as a multi-unit franchise operator for IHOP.
First Watch currently operates 80 restaurants in 11 states, with about 10 new locations expected to open this year.

jstanthrnme 02-18-2010, 09:47 PM Goodbye Jimmy's Egg..
This is awesome news!!! I loved First Watch when I tried it in St. Louis.
PennyQuilts 02-19-2010, 07:28 AM I suspect Jimmy's Egg will do fine - Oh, you meant YOU - yeah, I bet quite a few regular JE partakers will try out the new place and stay. I'll have to check it out, even though don't usually eat breakfasts at restaurants. Thanks for the heads up!
jbkrems 02-19-2010, 07:44 AM First Watch is great! I love their Tulsa location.
mooshie 02-19-2010, 06:25 PM Low calorie? Breakfast should be the biggest meal of the day.
native 02-19-2010, 08:32 PM First Watch is awesome. Much better than Jimmy's Egg. When I visit my folks in Tulsa I always want to go there for breakfast.
progressiveboy 02-19-2010, 10:19 PM When I lived in Florida, I would eat breakfast there at least twice a month. Very good quality and healthy.
SoonerQueen 02-21-2010, 02:18 AM They can put one in at 63rd and N May where the old Denny's was. We need something new and good to eat around here. But it will probably go up on Memorial Road someplace.
CCOKC 02-24-2010, 12:05 AM That sounds great. I love fruit with breakfast which is suprisingly hard to find here in OKC.
jbkrems 05-30-2010, 03:53 PM Does anyone know what the progress is on the opening of the restaurant? Is it under construction anywhere yet ?
metro 08-26-2010, 11:57 AM First location is coming to Quail Springs Marketplace, opening in the fall.
jbkrems 08-27-2010, 03:44 PM Metro,
Where is the "Quail Springs Marketplace" - ?
redrunner 08-27-2010, 04:35 PM Metro,
Where is the "Quail Springs Marketplace" - ?
SW Corner of N. Penn & Memorial Rd. Where Petsmart, Office Depot, Lowe's are located.
skyrick 08-27-2010, 04:41 PM Well, crap! I clicked on this thread thinking Timur Bekmambetov was making the third movie of his "Watch" trilogy (Day Watch and Night Watch were the first two) in OKC.
jbkrems 08-27-2010, 11:16 PM Does anyone know where in the Quail Springs Marketplace shopping center First Watch will actually be ? Is there some space or something leaving ?
SoonerQueen 08-27-2010, 11:52 PM I drove by there today and the space by Game Stop is was vacant. Westies shoes is also moving and their space will be vacant. Could be either one. I also drove by the new Denny's. They are finally hiring, but that place is taking forever to get going.
OKCisOK4me 08-28-2010, 10:39 AM Darn it! I opened this thread thinking it was going to be about the First Watch tower they were going to build over the Oklahoma River. Thank God that isn't the case.........
:Sperm: <--why is this on the list?!? hahahahahaha

I went by and it's located right by the Game Stop. They say Opening Soon. I'm looking forward to it.

It's been discussed earlier in a previous thread. Noticed you even posted on there too.
SoonerQueen 10-01-2010, 02:18 AM I got more recent info. I was just sharing what i found out today. If you don't want to read it, don't.
jbkrems 10-01-2010, 06:59 AM Where is the GameStop in the center ?
SoonerQueen 10-01-2010, 09:29 PM Game Stop is west of Ultimate Electronics and east of Ultra. There is a Verizon Wireless next door and also a Soup and Salad close by. I hope that helps.
SoonerQueen 02-05-2011, 11:00 PM They officially opened Monday, closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to weather, and reopened Thursday. We ate there Saturday for the first time at the OKC location. It's located at Penn and Memorial next to the Game Stop. Great food, friendly wait staff, and I'm glad they are finally here. You ought to check them out.
jstanthrnme 02-06-2011, 10:08 AM I tried it this morning. Definitely underwhelming compared to my visit to First Watch in St. Louis. The service seemed awkward and forced to me, but it wasn't bad. My biggest gripe is the price of coffee. $2+ is too much to pay for coffee at a cafe, unless Juan Valdez pours it himself. I'm gonna stick to my normal breakfast spots, I think. I'll go back, but not often.

Anyway, when I lived in Florida, First Watch was always busy, great food and healthy alternatives. $2 for a cup of coffee is nothing, considering they give you unlimited refills.

2.00 is about average for coffee in a full service rest., Denny's charges 1.89 and Jaun doesn't work there.
Bostonfan 02-06-2011, 11:40 AM If I ever eat there I'm going to come back here and give my review of the place......... starting a new thread on it (#4) of course.
bluedogok 02-06-2011, 12:21 PM I wish there were more "local" places worth going to around, down here we have the local Kerbey Lane Cafe (http://www.kerbeylanecafe.com/) chain but they have almost got to a point where they have over expanded as the new ones don't seem to be as good as the original three locations. I would like more neighborhood places The Paramount in Boston (http://www.paramountboston.com/) or French Roast in NYC (http://www.frenchroastny.com/uptown/home.aspx). When we are up there we always hit those two at least once if not twice depending on the amount of time we are there. The Paramount is great for breakfast or lunch, we have only had breakfast at French Roast.
Steve 02-08-2011, 01:35 PM I ate there today, and to be quite honest, it was pretty good. I think some locals (or Jimmy's Egg) need to open a place like this downtown. I suspect it would do great along Broadway in Automobile Alley with sufficient parking.
metro 02-09-2011, 08:36 PM Steve, when you gonna convince your wife to move DT
Steve 02-09-2011, 09:50 PM Does anybody know if more First Watch cafes are planned in Oklahoma City?
Richard at Remax 02-11-2011, 08:43 PM I ate there today as well. Food was really good. had the buffalo chicken wrap and tomato basil soup. servers and managers were kind of intense with always coming around asking you how it is but I expect that to settle down after a bit. def will be back.
jstanthrnme 02-11-2011, 11:05 PM My only issue with the price of coffee there, is that they charge you for a small pot of it, which I assume is bottomless. If I only drink a cup after I eat my breakfast, then I kind of feel like I'm not getting my money's worth. Not typical, I know.
Regarding First Watch though, I had a stack of 3 pancakes and made it 3/5ths of the way through them. I had a huge appetite that day. They're huge. Go with 2, or 1 on the side.
worthy cook nailed it on the service. When that relaxes a bit, I'll go back.
progressiveboy 02-12-2011, 11:15 AM Does anybody know if more First Watch cafes are planned in Oklahoma City? They are planning on opening a total of 3 cafes in the OKC area. Source. The first link thread number 1.
SoonerQueen 02-14-2011, 10:23 PM We went there for Valentine's Day breakfast. The food was delicious, but I agree about the awkward wait staff. It just takes a few weeks to work the opening kinks out. I 'll be going back
A local operator took over the old First Watch space on Memorial and renamed it First Bite.
Now, First Bite is moving to the old Scholtzsky's very nearby at 2620 W. Memorial.
