The Gazette announced it will discontinue "Doonesbury" after next week, or maybe after this week, depending on how you interpret the announcement. "Doonesbury" is the first thing I read in the Gazette, and the only thing I read regularly.
Humor is in diminishing supply in the Gazette, what with the previous loss of Tom Tomorrow and Life In Hell.

Maybe they need more space to run Ghouls Gone Wild promos?

Said that Doonesbury doesn't reflect the mission to cover local events and news, yet the cover story is about a cultural center in Sulphur. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Personally, I'm not into multi-panel comic strips like Doonesbury, but I do like single editorial cartoons. I love the stuff in the Gazette by Paul Fell, but I can't stand the art or subject matter of the ones by Mueller - looks like stuff from a high school newspaper (and for full disclosure I used to do the cartoons for my HS paper at PCHS).

Yeah, they've been weak on local coverage.

That's one reason I alway like the Oklahoma Journal many years ago. They carried Doonesbury.
