okclee 09-27-2010, 04:45 PM Do you have an online menu? and What are the hours and overall schedule?
BBatesokc 09-27-2010, 08:13 PM Will there be cupcakes? I'm tired of calling ahead, having them held and driving all the way to Edmond to get them ~ but we do it because they are awesome!
metro 09-28-2010, 09:57 AM We will be open for lunch tomorrow at 10:30, we will not do full days till monday when dinner will be served. Come out and see us guys.
Probably get more people to come and stop by if you give more info...

They will be open at 10:30 for lunch, does that help you?
onthestrip 09-28-2010, 12:51 PM Probably get more people to come and stop by if you give more info...
Yea, and they are now open for dinner now that monday has come and gone. Were you looking for nutritional information or something.
metro 09-28-2010, 01:02 PM They will be open at 10:30 for lunch, does that help you?
Yes knowing they open at 10:30 makes me want to eat there
ImTheDude 09-28-2010, 02:02 PM You do realize there is a Cafe 501 in Edmond, has a website and everything. For knowing everything about everything, I'm shocked you weren't aware of this. Try google next time.
okclee 09-28-2010, 02:40 PM I do realize 501 Edmond has a website, and that website has no mention of 501 classen curve. Also 501 Edmond starts lunch at 11am and you are saying 10:30 am. Please look at this from an outsiders perspective and not someone who works for them.
Mballard85 09-30-2010, 04:27 PM Our menu is the exact same as Edmond, we do not offer Brunch on Sunday yet but will around November. Also we are changing our opening time back to 11. If you need a menu please go to cafe501.com and it will have everything you need. We hope to see you guys soon.
metro 09-30-2010, 07:03 PM Yea, and they are now open for dinner now that monday has come and gone. Were you looking for nutritional information or something.
No nutritional info, but come on from a business owner it could have been a warmer, more informational post. Guess I'd do things differently if I ran the riskiest business around, a restaurant. My main pet peeve is their website isn't mobile device friendly so the only thing I can view on an iPad is an amateurish pic of the front door and no menu or phone number where I could call and have them answer to email or fax one
Mballard85 09-30-2010, 09:53 PM I am not the business owner, please understand that I was just spreading the word.
metro 09-30-2010, 10:02 PM Ok then I was confused when you said we I thought you were owner or at least speaking on their behalf
BBatesokc 10-01-2010, 06:51 AM I am not the business owner, please understand that I was just spreading the word.
WTH? - You used "I" and "we" repeatedly. Please tell me you at least work there.
foodiefan 10-01-2010, 12:03 PM Probably get more people to come and stop by if you give more info...
Dang it. . . I hate it when I agree with Metro!!
metro 10-01-2010, 12:07 PM Thanks buddy........... : )
Mballard85 10-01-2010, 02:42 PM WTH? - You used "I" and "we" repeatedly. Please tell me you at least work there.
I wasnt aware that using the word we and I ment I owned the place. I do work there as a matter of fact and I really didnt think this would take a turn for the worst like it has.

"press releases", albiet informal/unofficial ones can be touchy things. Sometimes it's best to let the managers do the talking. No harm, no foul. Hopefully, we can let go of this part of the thread and all just be delighted/excited that Cafe 501 is now much closer for some of us!!
BBatesokc 10-02-2010, 10:42 AM No biggie, I'm with Metro though.... I was very confused.
okyeah 10-02-2010, 11:56 PM Is lunch counter service? Just wondering, since I have a short lunch break
Mballard85 10-03-2010, 10:49 PM Lunch is counter service, it kind of stream lines the whole thing.
MustangSally 10-27-2010, 03:35 PM Has anyone been to this location? I was considering going tonight.
BBatesokc 10-28-2010, 07:17 PM We've eaten there twice. The atmosphere is completely different than the Edmond location - looks and feels younger and hipper. Though I actually think I like the Edmond location better. But not by much.
I really liked the covered seating on the front patio to wait for a table.
Food was really good but I think the Edmond location seasons the entrees better.
Will definitely be back - great date place and closer for me than the Edmond location.
Dustin 10-29-2010, 10:04 PM Is there a dress code? I assume not.
okyeah 11-06-2010, 01:06 PM I ate there last week for a late lunch. it didn't really feel young and hip to me because everyone there was a lot older, the clientele that Balliet's caters to. That could have been because I went at ~2:30. It's probably different later.
I had the thai shrimp wrap and my friend had the portobella mushroom and chicken wrap. The shrimp wrap was okay, just a little salty. I was indifferent about the pasta that it came with. After we were done, we went to get some desserts, and the cashier, this brown-haired Hispanic girl, seemed really annoyed. I got a vanilla cupcake and my friend got the italian creme cake. The cashier had some trouble finding boxes for them, and she had this attitude the whole time. Eeek. I'm gonna stay away from that place.

Decided to go with friends today to try sunday brunch at the new curve location. The place was very busy and the food was fabulous. Not the full brunch menu they have in Edmond, but they said it would be by early December.
We did mimosas, stuffed French toast and the breakfast burrito - and - of course, chocolate cupcakes to go.
A really great addition to the area that will surely be around a long time.
onthestrip 11-21-2010, 09:05 PM That stuffed french toast looks bomb. Whats it stuffed with?

If you dont mind me asking, how much were the entrees and drinks?
BBatesokc 11-22-2010, 02:21 PM That stuffed french toast looks bomb. Whats it stuffed with?
Cream cheese, strawberries and bacon with syrup.
That stuffed french toast looks bomb. Whats it stuffed with?
Drinks $4 and entrees $11.
Dustin 11-22-2010, 03:09 PM Bacon makes anything better!
Dustin 12-08-2010, 09:16 PM Just ate here this evening. EXCELLENT!
I ordered the Penne Pasta Entree and it was the best I have ever had. I will definitely be back! The tea is also amazing! Best I've ever had as well!
warreng88 01-03-2011, 11:27 AM My wife and I invited our friends out to Cafe 501 for dinner on NYE. We arrived at 7:30pm, were promptly seated and greeted by our server. Both of the wives got the Rasberry Flirtini, I got a Boulevard Wheat and my friend got a glass of Merlot. We got the Beef Short Rib Pasta (a little bland, but ok overall), Meatloaf (excellent), Cowboy Steak (very good, cooked perfectly Medium) and the California Club (Baked Potato Salad was very good as was the sandwich.) The portions were just right; not too much, not too little. The four of us split the 501 Warm Fudge Brownie. I felt it was a little small, but very tasty. We will definitely be back.
tburn 01-05-2011, 04:32 PM The lunch menu looks great!
I want to try every single hot sandwich & wrap on the menu!
is the Pasta salad exceptional?
I wonder why it is the only side option offered.
Again with the streamline I assume.
Has anyone been during lunch rush? easy in and out? parking too?
Thanks -- I'll get there soon!
Cafe 501 founder and operator Peter Holloway has died due to Covid.
His restaurant group also owns Boulevard Steak House and Sparrow. They had also operated the Martini Bar and Park House.
I interviewed him on the phone a couple of times and he was a very kind, passionate man.

FighttheGoodFight 01-12-2021, 03:11 PM Awful news. I always loved his concepts and it looks like his family loved him dearly.
Pete was incredibly well-respected and well-liked and often credited (along with a handful of others) with the first wave of OKC's restaurant renaissance that started in the late 90's.
Mballard85 01-12-2021, 04:22 PM As a former employee of the Holloway's, this is horrible news. Pete was an amazing man who inspired his employees. He will be truly missed.
warreng88 01-12-2021, 06:19 PM I knew Pete at my old bank. He had been a customer there for years and I, as a newbie, asked for him ID as he was cashing a check. He smiled, gave it to me and it wasn’t until I realized he had a ton of money with us that I should have asked someone if they knew him, I was just doing my job. I went 501 several times when he was there, ever 10 years after I left that bank and he always remembered my name and asked what I was doing. Just one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met.
Teo9969 01-12-2021, 08:26 PM A lot of people don't know this, but Pete Holloway was the other half of what is today The Ranch Steakhouse. The legal name of the company is still "Mathis Holloway LLC" (or INC?). The Ranch has really become it's own thing separate from Boulevard, but there are a few things that are still very similar (Uniforms, for 1). I don't know when it became The Ranch Steakhouse instead of 501 Ranch, but it was mid-2000s.
I know a lot of people in the industry really respected him. He definitely made a huge mark on OKC and definitely upped the ante for the Prime Steakhouse game in this city.
Sad to see he's left us.
OKCRealtor 01-13-2021, 10:37 AM This is a huge loss for the industry and OKC in general. Petes impact has been far reaching, he was truly one of a kind. Condolences to the entire Holloway family as they navigate this difficult time. His legacy will definitely live on but there's going to be a big void felt in his restaurants and industry in general.
I didn't realize they setup domes for private and germ-free dining:

dankrutka 05-09-2021, 03:50 PM Not sure these domes are anything more than pandemic theater. They seem enclosed with little ventilation, which makes them not a very good response to COVID. Besides, they’re big enough that they likely involve multiple groups. Kind of like installing plexiglass, which recent studies suggest actually increase COVID spread because they reduce airflow.
Of course, they’re not worse than most indoor spaces and vaccinated groups may prefer them so I hope they do well. I just don’t see them as an effective COVID response.
sooner88 05-09-2021, 04:05 PM They’ve been up for a few months now, it seemed a little strange to me that they waited until after the Christmas holidays / winter.

I'm sure those are the same domes used for the pop-up Christmas shops; just on loan during off-season.
