No idea to who. Roger S 07-19-2017, 12:54 PM I've learned that the International Crystal Manufacturing buildings at Lee/Sheridan have been up for sale and are under contract. No idea to who. I'm pretty sure there is a thread around here about that somewhere. shawnw 07-19-2017, 01:28 PM Oh oops Urbanized 07-19-2017, 05:05 PM I think it's the first I've read anywhere about it being under contract though. Strange because I rode by last night and wondered if there had been any nibbles. Development of those buildings will change the district so much for the better. shawnw 01-17-2019, 11:31 PM Another bar for film row https://twitter.com/FlashBackRtroPb/status/1086053087171747841 John Knight 01-21-2019, 09:06 AM Another bar for film row https://twitter.com/FlashBackRtroPb/status/1086053087171747841 I have known about this project for a little while now, but I will let Jose divulge more information once he is ready. Should be a fun concept! Pete 02-19-2019, 06:12 AM This long-vacant building at 800 Dean A McGee (at Shartel) is set to get a new tenant. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/800mcgeeb.jpg http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/800mcgee.jpg Jeepnokc 02-19-2019, 07:41 PM Is 8th and Shartel considered part of Film Row? Pete 02-19-2019, 07:42 PM Is 8th and Shartel considered part of Film Row? No, but this is the equivalent of 3rd and Shartel and it was close enough. :) 800 is the e/w street number; it's on Dean McGee. jerrywall 02-20-2019, 08:39 AM Has anyone taken any photos of the mural in progress on the parking garage at Sheridan and Classen? Rover 02-20-2019, 10:59 AM Has anyone taken any photos of the mural in progress on the parking garage at Sheridan and Classen? Was by there yesterday. There is no evidence of progress on site. UPDATE EDIT: After seeing Pete's post, I must have just seen the Classen side. Shows how observant I was in the weather. :) Pete 02-20-2019, 11:21 AM Has anyone taken any photos of the mural in progress on the parking garage at Sheridan and Classen? I posted this on the West Village thread. This is the mural along Sheridan; a similar but larger one will go up on the west (Classen) elevation. http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/westvillage021419.jpg Rover 02-20-2019, 01:44 PM Wow, that went up quickly. I think it was foreclosed on by the bank, who is trying to sell it at this time. Pete 10-26-2021, 01:14 PM The small building on the NW corner of Sheridan & Shartel is being converted into a laundromat. I believe it's been vacant for a while. I believe it's been vacant for a while. HTTP://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/801wsheridan1.jpg Seems like odd choice. I would assume all of the apartments in this area have w/d or at least laundry rooms. Be curious to see the demographic they are going after and where it comes from. ( I am also assuming the homeless shelters in that area have a way for the local homeless to wash clothes but could be wrong) DoctorTaco 10-27-2021, 08:18 AM A shame about that laundromat. Would have made a great Bail Bonds place. David 10-27-2021, 08:30 AM With how set back that building is and how unremarkable it is, demolishing and a new building closer up to the street and sidewalk would be better. Yes, from this angle the building looks super tiny, however I can't tell how far back it goes down the block. Bellaboo 10-27-2021, 10:34 AM Yes, from this angle the building looks super tiny, however I can't tell how far back it goes down the block. This place actually had some pretty good food. I loved when they used to do the smoked BBQ out front in the summers. Great use of that space. shawnw 06-29-2022, 02:01 PM Was surprised they made it through the pandemic but sad to see them go. When they opened later pre-pandemic was hoping that would help traffic uptick, but then the pandemic came, though they got that popup patio thing. I thought they were good the handful of times I had them, granted I haven't been since before the pandemic started. The food was great the few times I have eaten there but the menu was very limited Never made our rotation even though we were a block away. Roger S 06-30-2022, 07:15 AM The food was great the few times I have eaten there but the menu was very limited Never made our rotation even though we were a block away. Same here.... I would look at their menu but just could never find anything that sounded like what I wanted.... Now they would occasionally have something on their FB page as a dinner special but I'm not usually still downtown for dinner. And this may have just been a one off bad luck experience but the one day I did decide to walk over there. They had closed for lunch. There was a sign on the door saying they were closed but no estimated return time on it. So I ended up at Joey's. Pete 06-30-2022, 08:09 AM Pete is there any update on the burger place the Arbolada guys are opening up on Film Row? It's called Flycatcher Club and it's at 2nd & Klein next to Beer City Music Hall. Riley told me early July, so should be soon. Pete 06-30-2022, 08:10 AM Or about the burger place that was supposed to be opening on the south side of Sheridan or Reno between Walker and Western? Sun Cattle. I've been by there several times and after a flurry of activity, things have been moving very, very slowly. I'll check in with Russ Johnson (Ludivine, R&J) and provide an update. It had been so since I'd heard any news about it that I forgot the name. jerrywall 06-30-2022, 11:02 AM Are they closing due to low traffic or something not business related? I thought they were good the handful of times I had them, granted I haven't been since before the pandemic started. I've got to imagine it's got to be the low traffic. The majority of the employees in the Hart building have been working remote since March of 2020, as well as a large number of folks from the building just to the east. I went down to my work's office yesterday in Film Row and I was amazed at how dead the district felt. Maybe it was just yesterday, but it seems the pandemic really did a number on that area in terms of daytime traffic/business. Roger S 07-01-2022, 07:49 AM Maybe it was just yesterday, but it seems the pandemic really did a number on that area in terms of daytime traffic/business. It's still pretty slow.... I'm only at my office 2 days a week, at most, and I can't remember the last time I had to wait to pull out on to Main Street for an oncoming vehicle. OkieBerto 05-02-2023, 08:40 PM 18011 Saw this tonight on the Caelis location. Pete 05-02-2023, 08:50 PM ^ Yes, it's a deluxe sandwich shop (lobster rolls, panini, etc.) by the same operators of the soon-to-open Glamour. I'll have more soon. Both are walking distance from me. Guess I will have to try both! rconnc 05-09-2023, 07:03 PM I am in the process of moving and the Film Row district is one of my top options, but a major pain point for me is the "grocery store desert" in the area. I prefer to be able to walk a reasonable amount to do my daily and weekly things (grocery, bar, gym, etc.). I am sure this isn't a unique concept, but I wonder why Homeland or Sprouts don't consider a smaller grocery concept for the area. I've spent quite a lot of time in UK and concepts like Tesco Express or Sainsbury come to mind. Any consensus on these "grocery store deserts", Film Row isn't the only area, Downtown and Bricktown are dry when it comes to grocery amenities for residents. There have been a couple of small grocery stores downtown -- one in Deep Deuce and another in Midtown -- and neither of them had nearly enough business to stay open. I'd highly recommend Kroger delivery; they have everything and deliver next day. If you sign up for the annual membership you can get your items the same day you order. Several other places deliver as well. There is also DashMart that not only delivers but you can also walk over and pick up at 415 NW 7th. And finally, Homeland on Classen is pretty close and you can also walk to the new 7-11 at Reno & Walker or another one of the convenience stores in the area. Anonymous. 05-10-2023, 01:57 PM Yea who would have predicted that the transient camps under the I-40 bridge would have re-appeared once the bridge was rebuilt as the Boulevard? I mean the location is only within 500 yards of 6 different transient resource facilities. Oh yea. literally everyone predicted that. People clown the streetcar as being the worst MAPS project, but honestly the Boulevard construction piece of Core2Shore is actually the winner. chssooner 05-10-2023, 02:10 PM Yea who would have predicted that the transient camps under the I-40 bridge would have re-appeared once the bridge was rebuilt as the Boulevard? I work in the Film Row district and live about 4 miles away. There is only one grocery store between my house and my office - and it is not exactly the cleanest store and that route adds like 4min of traffic. If I go a little out of my way, I will go to the Homeland on Classen and 17th/18th. rayvaflav 05-13-2023, 09:04 AM There is Urban Agrarian over in the Farmer's Market district but the walk under the boulevard overpass might not be enjoyable..... If only they had put in that roundabout it wouldn't have become a beacon for the homeless. I did one of my Wednesday evening runs from Lively Brewing and inadvertently wound up running through that crowded homeless encampment under that bridge. To my surprise I actually received quite a few of hellos and an actual round of applause. I got a feeling that they enjoyed the diversion. |
