It's interesting that this area is actually seeing a bit more new construction before all of the older historic inventory is rehabbed. Sort of the opposite of what we've seen in Bricktown and Mid-town, and more along the lines of Deep Deuce.

I think OKC will soon have a lot of strong districts that are similar besides that it will be easier to divide them as modern design v. historic preservation, and I think that dichotomy will be a lot clearer in 5 years than we may expect it to be now. I think Deep Deuce will end up becoming even flashier.

Don't forget that this coming Monday night, May 13th at 6:30pm is our next Film Row Association meeting. It will be above Joey's in the Exchange offices at 702 1/2 W. Sheridan. Take the stairs or the elevator. Also, Saturday May 18th is the OKC Pride Festival and it is estimated that nearly 12,000 may be in attendance. GREAT TIMES!

it would be wonderful if more media sources opened in Film Row. Imagine if several more radio stations and if tv stations opened up? Now imagine if NewsOK/Daily Oklahoman opened up in Film Row. Along with more bars, restaurants, a few dance clubs, a live music venue and perhaps a real movie theatre or two, Film Row has the most potential to be downtown's thriving ADULT urban entertainment/nightlife district IMO.

Yeah - #FoodTruckWeds.... Off the Hook Seafood sold out and had a fantastic response.

I'm getting pretty sad to think that we will have to shutter #FoodTruckWeds until the spring. The weather has held up well so far - but Big Truck Tacos on Dec. 4th is likely to be the last until the spring.

It's been a lot of fun to meet our downtown neighbors and invite them into our space for food and community.

Hope to see y'all on Dec. 4th or this spring!

This is an interesting upcoming event at the Individual Artists Gallery.

http://www.oklahoman.com/article/3935001?embargo=1

Urban Land Institute, which has an Oklahoma chapter, may be best known as an organization that hosts discussions among planners and developers, but some local organizers hope an upcoming exhibit will show how art is critical to building a great city.

On Friday, Urban Land Institute (ULI) Oklahoma unveils “MAPS 20th Anniversary Artist Projects,” an exhibition offering perspectives and stories about the transformation of Oklahoma City over the last two decades as a result of the Metropolitan Area Projects (MAPS). The exhibit will be at the Individual Artists Gallery, 706 W Sheridan Ave.

“ULI Oklahoma is thrilled to be working with local artists to offer a fresh perspective on the impact MAPS has had over the last 20 years”, said Jonathan Dodson, Program’s Chair of ULI Oklahoma, “MAPS made Oklahoma City better for everyone. Many of the millennials, artists and creatives that live here now have stayed or moved here because MAPS made this city a place people want to be.”

Is anything new happening or on the horizon in Film Row? Is everything waiting on the 21c Hotel?

A couple of years ago when I moved here, everyone was talking about Film Row as the next big up and coming district in OKC. Today, everything has shifted to Midtown and I don't hear anybody talking about Film Row.

They just opened a new restaurant, Black Mint Tattoo just opened, the OU school of architecture is getting ready to open. several more buildings have been recently renovated and filled, John Hunsucker just opened his new building, the Paramount owners bought their building and added a couple of small businesses, Main Street Arcade is gettting ready to start renovation, the police department is going to build a parking structure with commercial space, 21c and the adjacent building should be starting soon, Premier on Film Row continues to grow, they are going to have bigger and better holiday decorations...

And there have been some key acquisitions and renovations along California.

Besides that, not much happening. :)

We're renting an office in the Paramount right now. We hope to grow out of it and put up a space of our own somewhere in the district before it gets too filled in. I think the biggest challenge for the district right now is to get more retail to go along with the Plant Shop and the Okay See. The buildings between Paramount and Dunlap would look great with some store fronts. Slice Magazine has a 'For Lease' sign out in front of their building. Don't know if they're moving or there's some other space in there that's up.

BTW, the building at Reno and Lee was recently knocked down. Any ideas on what is going to happen there?

Not sure what is happening on the 600 block between Reno and California, 80% has been purchased by an LLC. 60% of the 500 block between Reno and California has a contract on it. Hope they have big plans and not just trying to control around the Stage Center site.

Everything shown in pink is owned by Ross Construction; they are in the process of acquiring the last piece of property on that block.

Ross is based out of Tulsa but has their OKC offices in the building shown below. They've recently remodeled it.

The properties along California will likely be redeveloped into 2-3 story commercial on either side of the Ross offices. The south half of the block will be a small parking structure, perhaps with commercial on the ground floor.

They should come out with their official plans once the last parcel is acquired.
