Looks like they are finally getting their streetlights:

I wonder if they made the light intentionally to look like a movie film can??
Urbanized 02-10-2012, 05:07 PM Nope. It's the same light used throughout Project 180. Glad to see lights going in over there. There have been no street lights there since 2009.
Photo of Hart Building work from yesterday.
Note the eerie site of a completely vacated old I-40.

Woah. This will add a very different dimension. Something that downtown hasn't seen before...interesting.

This is great for Film Row, but I'm kind of a traditionalist and always enjoyed watching the parade on Classen. Maybe it's just gotten too big.
Spartan 03-22-2012, 11:42 PM I think it needs a downtown backdrop, and let's face it, that aint Classen.

The Parade Route has not changed it will still be on classen and then head west on 39th through the central LGBT Bars. However the Festival on Saturday 5/19th will be in the film district. That is where vendors will be set up as well as a Stage for entertainment. I think it could turn out to be a very nice festival for the community as well as the District.
UnFrSaKn 04-01-2012, 11:47 PM Tired... long day at work on a day I haven't worked in months and at night in two years. Didn't stay long.

Not exactly within the districts boundaries, but very, very close. City Rescue Mission is on the south side of California. It is my understanding that Film Row's boudary is the north side of California.
Building permit for Health Nut Cafe in the Hart Building.

Building permit today to remodel the second floor of the Film Exchange Building into event space for The Exchange (http://exchange-revolution.com/), a local events company. I imagine it will incorporate that cool, massive skylight.
Joey's Pizzeria is on the ground floor.
Film Row has lots of great momentum.

There is also a tenant called Venture Spur on that second floor.
Boulder, do you know if these two business share the same space?

metro 05-28-2012, 11:07 AM Pete, what's even cooler is that Venture Spur is not just a tenant, but a business accelerator, That's 2 new ones in OKC recently, the other being Blueprint for Business.

There was a building permit last week for 701 W. Sheridan to create an "assembly hall", so that must be for this project.
Looks interesting!
Spartan 05-29-2012, 09:54 PM Pete could you post the details there? I couldn't find the permit application.. This is awesome though. Film, wine, coffee.. nice
It must not need much work (or be getting much work) if they just got a building permit and planning to be open in August.
More about the Paramount OKC...
Coming in August 2012: Reel Art, Wine, and Coffee in the Paramount building on historic Film Row near downtown Oklahoma City.
The historic Paramount screening room is the last of the studio screening rooms remaining on Oklahoma City’s film row. Nearly 50 beautifully preserved vintage theater seats are available and there is space in the front of the theater for less formal seating arrangements.
The screening room is the venue for Paramount Club members to enjoy free movie nights; for local film students or local film makers to show their work and may be leased for meetings, conferences, private parties or events.
The Paramount is proud to make fair trade coffee an option for our customers. Stop by for a quick breakfast or lunch. In the evenings enjoy fruit and cheese, humus with chips or Paramount Toast Points as a compliment to our wine. Any time of the day you are welcome to indulge in decadent pies from The Pie Junkie, cookies or brownies.
It's in this building at 701 W. Sheridan, directly across the street from Joey's Pizza; I believe all that metal siding is off now:
http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/701wsheridan.jpg
And here are some photos from their Facebook page -- looks a really cool and unique project:

Spartan 06-07-2012, 06:56 PM It looks like a group of people who are digging from within to scrounge together their own resources to pull off a classy project. Pete, how much $$ was the building permit for?
The permit was for $10,000.
But remember, that's just for construction, not furniture, fixtures, etc.
wschnitt 06-07-2012, 07:52 PM That sheet metal has been off for a while now. The bricks on the brick window sills are still broken in 1/2 to accommodate that metal. Something I learned at RetroMetro.
Urbanized 06-08-2012, 10:38 AM I got a tour of the screening room a year or so ago. It is super cool.

Where is the screening room in that building? On the ground floor toward the north end?
It's very cool the original leather seats have been preserved.
Urbanized 06-08-2012, 11:49 AM Ground floor, south west corner. The screen end fronts Sheridan; the projection room is to the north. There is an entrance to the projection room on the west wall. I assume the screening room was retrofitted to the space after the building was designed with windows on that Sheridan facade.
Walked around this area yesterday and took some photos.
The first one is just north of Sheridan on Lee and is a slick little building I had not seen featured. It looks fully occupied by International Crystal Manufacturing Company (http://www.icmfg.com/):
http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/filmrow61312.jpg
This is where Paramount OKC is going, the Lee side. Looking inside it appears they are nearly finished with the coffee shop / cafe. I bet we see an opening soon. Also, there is another photography tenant taking part of the ground floor and at least some of the second level:
http://www.okctalk.com/images/pete/paramount61312.jpg
This building is immediately north of the Paramount and directly across from the ICM building show in the first photo. Really slick looking and they have a graphics company in the first floor; not sure about the rest:

What we call the Hart Building is actually two separate structures divided about the point you see the sign on the left:

I had a really bad experience and wanted to contact them before I shared it here.
I looked on their website and didn't see an email or anything other than a general phone #.
TIA

Yet another really slick redevelopment project for Film Row.
This is the little building immediately east of the big Hart project at 718 W. Sheridan and the plan is to add a perpendicular 2nd floor. Hans Butzer is the architect.

HangryHippo 07-16-2012, 01:17 PM Agreed, this looks really fantastic.
Really everything they have done thus far on Film Row has been pretty great and the Hart project looks like another big winner.
I hope they can find a good infill development for the vacant lot just across Sheridan from this project and the Hart, because it's a big hole right now.

Yeah, it's too bad City Arts couldn't find a away to use that space. If they were in this district, between this and the Paseo, we'd have two very cool, dense, and locally oriented art districts. Either way, I think we still will have that, but they would have really put this district over the top.

That is OkcCoCo Coworking Cooperative. They moved from 7th & Hudson. They basically are like a business incubator and executive suites combined. Young companies can rent a desk space or a conference room for the day. The cafe part is a new addition.
BoulderSooner 07-19-2012, 08:41 AM Film Row enjoys flurry of new development
The historic Film Row on the west side of downtown is undergoing redevelopment that includes a string of building renovations, new restaurants and attractions.

When Melodie Garneau sought a spot to open a combined coffee shop, wine bar and small independent theater, she instantly thought of Film Row along the west fringe of downtown.
Film Row businesses
What she didn't expect was the spot she chose, the Paramount Building, at the corner of Lee and Sheridan avenues, already had a 75-seat theater that dates back to when Paramount Pictures gave advance screenings to cinema operators throughout the region.

GaryOKC6 07-26-2012, 09:03 AM I was in the Paramount yesterday and got the grand tour. They have done a great job of renovating and keeping the "old" features in tact. They are going to be a great addition to film row. The screening room is also a great venue and is pretty much original. they plan to show classic and other films several days a week.
