I see this thing is going in on 12th and Alameda, I have seen these all over Texas but never had them. Any good? Better than the Rudy's chain?

Website shows a Moore location coming soon as well...can never have enough BBQ joints around IMO

Judging from some of the reviews from a google search we don't have much to be excited about

I don't wish to see anyone open and not succeed, but adding yet another Q to Norman and Moore, given the numerous selections, seems as odd a decision as if another Tex Mex was plopping yet another combo plate on the counter.

I can't believe some have tried to export this sad excuse for BBQ out of Texas.....it was bad when I lived in Dallas almost 20 years ago. The original Dickey's is long since gone and the franchise substitute (third generation) has taken over, they bear no resemblance to the original from what I have been told by those who went there long, long ago. The second generation changed things and the third generation has expanded it. In Dallas Sonny Bryan's was about the only BBQ that I liked.

Considering the name, I'm sure it will be a faaabulous success amongst most of you on this forum.

Add me to the list of former DFW residents who don't care for Dickey's. I can't imagine it will last too long. Nothing to see here...

I would say that their BBQ is good, but not great. They have a better than average assortment of side orders though.

Dickey's are all over DFW. Average BBQ, overpriced. Bring back Glen's Hick'ry Inn! Or even the Hick'ry Pit across the street. Or George's on NE side.

To answer the original post, I do not believe Dickies is anywhere near as good as Rudy's. I think Rudy's is pretty decent for a chain. Phil Romano, who started Fuddrucker's and Macoroni Grill, started Rudy's. I like his restaurants although he ends up selling most of them. I only went to the Hick'ry Pit once but thought it was pretty good. Dickies is not as good as JR's BBQ which has closed in Norman. I liked JR's but its location has seen a couple of failures including Krispy Kreme.

I think I'll stick with Van's, Ray's, Rudy's, etc.

I ventured out and tried it the other day. My thoughts are that it is way below average. The service was not great nor was the food, especially for the price! I will stick with Van's!!

I haven't tried it yet, but I have several friends who went to Dickey's recently. Every single one of them said it was terrible and overpriced.

Going to have to agree with all the sentiments posted. I tried Dickey's a week ago and it was pretty bad. and I spent $10 on a tiny sandwich combo. . .
