View Full Version : Old Marco's #3 Location...
CuatrodeMayo 08-10-2010, 02:22 PM Some roofing work is taking place this week at the old Marco's #3 location at NW 16th & Classen.
Anybody know anything about this?
Oklahoma County isn't showing any change of ownership...
corwin1968 08-11-2010, 09:14 AM Same thing was happening at the north Rockwell location on Monday. The folks inside were the same that have been there since they opened that location so I assume it's just updgrading or maybe hail damage. I heard that Rockwell area got hit pretty hard (we lived in the apartments at 122nd and Rockwell until we bought a house a year ago....I'm glad we were gone when the hail hit).
jbrown84 08-11-2010, 03:32 PM Marcos #3 is/was not affiliated with the San Marcos restaurants.
corwin1968 08-12-2010, 08:12 AM Oh, sorry!! I thought he was abbreviating for "San Marcos". LOL
jbrown84 08-12-2010, 02:33 PM No problem. Just clarifying.
metro 08-17-2010, 03:06 PM Not to mention Marcos #3 has been closed for years now, that is why the poster brought it up, that they are doing roof work on a vacant building. Maybe they did get insurance money, but would love to see something new go in there. Wish Braum's would clean up it's act next door.
okclee 02-10-2014, 10:41 AM What is the story on this vacant building?
It's not for sale or for lease. It could be a very significant point of entrance for the Plaza District but instead it is just another eyesore.
betts 02-10-2014, 04:14 PM It's definitely an odd building, but I would love to see it renovated. I remember a restaurant there called Triples maybe? It was definitely open when we moved here.
Martin 02-10-2014, 04:23 PM yep... that spot was once triples. and earlier, herman's seafood if i remember right. -M
warreng88 02-10-2014, 04:28 PM Someone brought up the idea of razing it and putting a food truck court there. I really, really like that idea...
okclee 02-10-2014, 04:36 PM I don't think you would have to raze the building to do that. That parking lot is huge. But that is a great idea especially as a gateway into the Plaza District.

That is correct. I used to go there when it was both. I remember going to Herman's with my parents as a kid and then later to triples to drink in my early twenties.. Herman's was an awesome seafood restaurant. I would like to see something like that go in there again.
okclee 02-10-2014, 10:28 PM Who owns it and why does it sit empty?
This is such a major high traffic area in an up and coming section of Okc.

Herman's was also my go to place for seafood when I was younger but I'm not sure I could accurately describe it as awesome. I liked it very much but, since true seafood was a fairly novel idea here at time and I was a native Okie, I had little to compare it to.

You are probably right about the awesome part but I was about 10 years old at the time and for me it was quite a treat.

The property is still owned by the same family that bought it in 2003 for Marco's.
They only paid $235K and it's 1.1 acres at a prime location.
ljbab728 02-12-2014, 12:04 AM And this is what it looked like when I ate there when it was Herman's.

By the way, I have no idea who those two people are in the photo. Perhaps they were the owners.
