Hi folks,
If you like acoustic string music, traditional music, and especially the fretted dulcimer, check out Music of the Duckslammer (http://duckslammer.com)
This site has republished (with permission and by request) an album of incredible dulcimer music. Free download, no advertising.
I also want to tell you about the Oklahoma City Traditional Music Association, the best-kept secret in OKC. We've been jamming and having fun since 1984. At our meetings, we start with teaching sessions in various instruments (guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dulcimer, autoharp, etc), then people take turns performing for the group, then we break up into groups and jam until late. There's not much in the way of bluegrass but lots of traditional old-timey and celtic music.
Kyle Dillingham credits the OCTMA with learning how to jam and getting started. When he was in high school he'd come to the meetings and jam all night. Wayne Cantwell, another noted local fiddle player, is a regular.
A large group from OCTMA goes to the annual Walnut Valley Festival in southern Kansas every fall - thousands of musicians and 4 days of non-stop acoustic music and jamming (Walnut Valley Festival - Winfield, Kansas (http://www.wvfest.com/)). If you're into that sort of thing you should come with us.
OCTMA is a great kid-friendly family entertainment evening. Come join the fun and help keep the traditions alive.
