HOT ROD

I agree, this hotel is wonderful looking. I 'only' wish it were 10 storeys so it would make an even better presence on the skyline (and since it is a nice building) but that is just the spoiled brat in me. lol.
View Full Version : Aloft Hotel HOT ROD 12-03-2013, 10:36 PM I agree, this hotel is wonderful looking. I 'only' wish it were 10 storeys so it would make an even better presence on the skyline (and since it is a nice building) but that is just the spoiled brat in me. lol. OKCisOK4me 12-04-2013, 01:56 AM I wish the blue form on top went all the way around and not just on the ends and the northern half because, as stated earlier, the south face is so bland, having light shining out on that blue form over the south portion of the hotel would be more of a beacon to me...from the interstates and what not. IanMcDermid 12-04-2013, 07:26 AM Toured the site a couple weeks ago. Sign is coming. You know that's phase 3 stuff. Rooms looked 80% done. Event space looks AMAZING. So do the executive loft style suites. A mildly educated guess is that it opens march. Lighting looks amazing in person. Eye catching for blocks. Also the grade level restaurant layouts look killer. no1cub17 12-05-2013, 04:21 PM Opening January 30th! Pete 12-05-2013, 06:17 PM Opening January 30th! A bird told me. https://www.starwoodhotels.com/preferredguest/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=3623 Thank goodness!! They are going to have to bust their humps to get everything done in less than two months. Can't wait to see those doors swing open. shawnw 12-05-2013, 11:26 PM Wait, it actually says: Hotel Opens January 30. Taking Reservations March 13. What does that mean, taking reservations March 13? Well that's a little misleading isn't it? Will their bar/coffee shop open 1/30 but it won't be open to guests? Not sure I've ever heard of that. Also looks like it's going to be SPG Category 4 - the highest category among any OKC starwood hotel I believe. kevinpate 12-06-2013, 08:33 AM Wait, it actually says: What does that mean, taking reservations March 13? What happens between 30 Jan and 12 March? Just a guess. Common areas food and bar areas will become available before pillow time spaces will become available. Pete 12-06-2013, 08:39 AM Or, some rooms will be available but they don't want to commit to taking reservations until March. I just want the place open!! Will be a big game-changer for Deep Deuce and hopefully bring a lot more business to Native Roots. HOT ROD 12-06-2013, 03:12 PM Highest in Oklahoma. metro 12-06-2013, 03:29 PM Yeah I think it's pretty common for hotels to have "soft openings" for a month or two before taking online reservations, the last thing they want to do is have to cancel a big block of patrons due to last minute touches or unforeseen mechanical issues. Common sense to me? adaniel 12-06-2013, 03:45 PM The building will be done in January, but they still have to hire and train workers. Given this will be four star I'm sure they want everyone to be on point and that will simply take time. soonerguru 12-06-2013, 11:18 PM The building will be done in January, but they still have to hire and train workers. Given this will be four star I'm sure they want everyone to be on point and that will simply take time. Four star? An Aloft? Actually, it does look like the nicest Aloft property I've seen. My boss will probably want to stay here every time he's here on business. shawnw 12-27-2013, 12:13 PM FYI the rooftop signage is up, sorry didn't get a picture. Also, I need to take a closer look, but it looked like "regular width" sidewalks (instead of wider ones) were going in around the hotel, which is disappointing if true, but I need to go back and double check. ksearls 12-27-2013, 12:50 PM This is not a great picture, just took it out of my window, but you can see the sign in place. It's what I saw last night but didn't get a pick of... catch22 12-27-2013, 01:13 PM There's also a sign facing south. On the east end. shawnw 12-27-2013, 01:15 PM Yup dankrutka 12-27-2013, 01:41 PM Here's a picture retweeted by Downtown Developmend regarding the sidewalks being poured. 5610 OKCisOK4me 12-27-2013, 01:51 PM Sorry, I've been holding out on uploading this pic. From my tour downtown this past Saturday... holidays and all. Notice you can also see the wxyz bar sign at the corner by the entry. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3753/11589768383_d75dce6007_c.jpg Pete 12-27-2013, 02:13 PM ^ Cool! Thanks so much. Looks like they are really hustling now. wxyz will be right where that sign is located, both above and below (first and second levels in the lobby). With Urban Johnnie close to opening, there will be four great hangout spots within a stone's throw: wxyz, UJ, DD Grill and WSKY. Also, WSKY is expanding and there will be another restaurant/bar at the far west end of Aloft. OKCisOK4me 12-27-2013, 02:20 PM Vibrant neighborhood teeming with activity already with more on the way! AP 12-27-2013, 02:21 PM I can't wait to live in this neighborhood in a week. shawnw 12-27-2013, 02:43 PM Bricktown's instagram account posted that the Hilton Garden Inn would open in January but that they didn't have a date yet. Will be interesting to see which one opens first... BDP 12-27-2013, 02:56 PM Starwood site is now saying 2/20 for the Aloft. So, looks like Hilton will win, but will they have corner jacuzzi suites? Aerials like this really show off the density levels we're building up and how well buildings compliment each other. I think that the aloft is the perfect compliment to LEVEL across 2nd Street. Pete 12-27-2013, 03:46 PM Are they still planning on an 809 Sports Grill, or was that just rumor? There hasn't been any sort of building permit for the restaurant space as of yet. Last I knew, they were still seeking a tenant for that space. OKCisOK4me 12-27-2013, 04:07 PM This is not a great picture, just took it out of my window, but you can see the sign in place. I wouldn't. Need to keep the super-blocks away. I'd like to see the pocket park extended down to Main. Would be a great pedestrian thoroughfare. Dubya61 12-27-2013, 04:13 PM Is the lot (to the west) owned by the Clark Building people? OKCisOK4me 12-27-2013, 04:15 PM I wouldn't. Need to keep the super-blocks away. I'd like to see the pocket park extended down to Main. Would be a great pedestrian thoroughfare. I wasn't saying develop the pocket park. I'd like to see development between the the one building (across from Maywood Lofts...having a brain fart on its name) and the pocket park. Basically the parking lot and where that construction trailer is sitting. Park stays. catch22 12-27-2013, 04:18 PM Oh okay. I reread your post and now I see what you are saying. I believe Richard McKown's group bought part of that corner (one or two lots but not the whole corner). You are thinking of the Clark Building. I would like to see that corner developed also. OKCisOK4me 12-27-2013, 04:35 PM Oh okay. I reread your post and now I see what you are saying. I believe Richard McKown's group bought part of that corner (one or two lots but not the whole corner). You are thinking of the Clark Building. I would like to see that corner developed also. Thank you! I kept thinking Cline but I know that's Midtown/AutoAlley... Now if developers can figure out how to incorporate that multi-level parking structure north of Main Street just west of the viaduct with room to allow for a future commuter rail line ramp to be built over your extended pocket park to Main then a lot of us will be smiling! :) Pete 12-27-2013, 04:38 PM There are three separate properties between the Clark Building and Aloft: 1. The parking lot immediately east of the Clark, owned by the same people 2. A lot that extends east from that parking lot to about the middle of the pocket park, owned by Ron Bradshaw & Co. 3. The eastern half o the pocket park which is actually City right-of-way soonerguru 12-28-2013, 01:10 AM I wouldn't. Need to keep the super-blocks away. I'd like to see the pocket park extended down to Main. Would be a great pedestrian thoroughfare. Great idea. Spartan 12-28-2013, 01:46 AM That would be very easy too, because there's already a plaza with a vista of Bricktown, and a pocket park doesn't have to meet the same standards for bridging the Rock Island ROW (future Amtrak connection) that an actual automobile thoroughfare would. There have been numerous calls for connecting Oklahoma Avenue, which hasn't come to fruition just because that's a much more difficult proposition regardless of what a great idea it would be. Opening has been pushed back to 2/20 per the starwood website. Shocking, I know! Pete 12-29-2013, 03:06 PM 2/20 even seems a bit aggressive but here's hoping that actually meet this one. Was in Dallas this past weekend visiting the convention center, and I must say our Aloft is twice as nice.
