Great pics, Spartan. It's especially nice to see residential areas in OKC with sidewalks that invite walking.

Thank you for the detailed pictures. Didn't get to go and heard some controversy regarding concession vendors being isolated? These picture tell the true story - looks like all the vendors had good business.

Well the city wasn't allowing nearly as many artist booths as they have in years past, yet attendance was the highest it's ever been, so the artists that did get to be in it made out. Some were on the record saying it was their most lucrative arts festival ever, and some of these are Paseo community residents, some are national and do an arts festival every week or so. So that's really saying a LOT.

Thanks for all the comments guys.

Yeah, I thought there was less art vendors this year and more food vendors. The food vendors still were not that good.

Great pics.

Yeah I wish they wouldn't view food vendors as too much of a Festival of the Arts thing..

WOW! i had no idea that the arts festival in paseo was such a big event! that's awesome. and great shots also. i've never been to paseo, and it kinda reminds me of san marco here in jacksonville. very neat. when i move home, i'll be looking around paseo for a place!

I couldn't be there this year, but from the website, the number of juried artists was the about the same as last year (75). However the past years there has been a tag-along "festival" that sets up right next to the official festival. This is where you see more of the crafts and mass produced stuff. Perhaps this year the Paseo Arts Association was able to stop the 'leeching".

Great shots Spartan, I spotted a couple of my favorite artists in those pics.

Not to offend but most of the everyday working class heroes I know usually go to these shows for inexpensive entertainment and usually end up spending their hard-earned money of the food concessions. Although the art is nice, I don't see too many art clients buying up the expensive art - they are there for the atmoshpere, food, beer & music. I'm pretty sure the arts tents have to pay something, but the foodies (that I know of) pay a fairly steep entry fee ($500-600+) plus an average of 20% of food sales (on top of the entry fee) to the promoters and undergo a fairly strict inspection process from the local Health Department. Do the art vendors put up this much money for the show ir is most of it on the backs of the food vendors? In a nutshell, I think these shows are VERY dependent on the money brought in from the Food Concessions in order for the show to be successful...

In case you didn't realize JTL, the Paseo Arts Festival has no govt involvement, so libertarianism is nice and all but does not apply.

But to answer your question, no the artists do not pay a percentage of their sales to the festival. They do at the Festival of the Arts.

I think that the music and neighborhood contribute a lot more to bring people to the Paseo than that food vendors. Honestly I saw more people eating at the restaurants on the Paseo..Paseo Grill, Picasso's, Sauced...whatever else there is.

Interesting point of view... I should have found a little time to stop by and enjoy the show. Again the photos were very good and help for those of us who were not there, to at least visualize the crowd attendance which appeared to be fairly large. Thank you...

Oh by the way, do you remember the old Spagetti Factory? I use to love that place back in the early 80s. Old Betty Boop & early Mickey Mouse cartoons and those famous "Squaw Rolls!" Those things were delicious! Making your own Pizza - all great memories. We use to go there on occasion, then wind up at the Painted Dessert or VZDs for drinks and the bands. Really cool atmosphere back then...:kicking:
