View Full Version : DT OKC Scale Models! dmoor82 08-06-2010, 05:22 PM Looking good Russian Sam!Thanx for posting your updates here at OKCTalk,we all appreciate it and keep up The great work! Russian Sam 08-08-2010, 09:39 AM Thanks dmoor! I decided to stick seals & flags Oklahoma City http://s002.radikal.ru/i199/1008/f4/56271e93c5bd.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru) and State of Oklahoma http://s004.radikal.ru/i206/1008/6f/852f71ecff30.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru) I think it's necessary. dmoor82 08-08-2010, 02:44 PM ^^Nicely done! Russian Sam 08-10-2010, 10:54 AM My own Devon under construction http://i052.radikal.ru/1008/97/77bfc231402e.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru) Platemaker 08-10-2010, 10:55 AM Nice! Platemaker 08-10-2010, 10:57 AM Russain Sam... are you going to add skywalks to your model? SkyWestOKC 08-10-2010, 11:19 AM WOW!! Nice work Sam! Russian Sam 08-10-2010, 11:24 AM Thanks guys! Russain Sam... are you going to add skywalks to your model? Sure, they are ready. http://s46.radikal.ru/i112/1008/de/12f9d0a7c9a0.jpg (http://www.radikal.ru) Steve 08-10-2010, 12:07 PM Elijah, I've been contacted by an architect who wants to know if you would be interested in visiting Oklahoma City. He is willing to host you as a guest at his house. He's a fairly well-known architect who has a house in the emerging Cottage District/SoSA neighborhood. He is wanting to start a fund to pay for airfare. He would start it with $50 and challenge others to contribute. He estimates airfare would cost about $1,000. He wants to see if you would be interested in visiting during the Creativity Forum. I am curious what others on this board think. Is this an effort that might gain support if publicized? Sure I would. But... In our country is very difficult to get a U.S. visa. It needs to have property (car, apartment, country house) or a high salary (not less than $ 2000). I have no property, and my salary is only $ 600. But there is one more chance - an invitation from a U.S. citizen, but better from a company or organization in writing. I will try to contact the consulate in St Petersburg and learn more. PS Kerry thanks OKCRT 08-10-2010, 02:19 PM Make this happen. I will also kick in to the pot. kevinpate 08-10-2010, 02:42 PM Ditto SkyWestOKC 08-10-2010, 02:42 PM I'll kick in some. swilki 08-10-2010, 03:01 PM I'm down to help dmoor82 08-10-2010, 05:07 PM Russian Sam your becoming somewhat of a celebrity around here, not bad considering you have never been here but maybe we can change that as well! The Devon Tower looks awesome! Russian Sam your becoming somewhat of a celebrity around here, not bad considering you have never been here but maybe we can change that as well! The Devon Tower looks awesome! dmoor what you mean "celebrity"?;) Devon Energy Tower is done!!! Pete 08-11-2010, 12:01 PM If Sam can get a visa, I would be happy to set up a link to a PayPal donation site so people could contribute towards his air fare. I'm sure we could easily raise the needed funds. Steve 08-11-2010, 12:49 PM Russian Sam, I think what is being proposed is a tourist visa, not a work visa. Kerry 08-11-2010, 01:49 PM dmoor what you mean "celebrity It is like being a famous person. Russian Sam 08-13-2010, 02:39 PM Hi guys, thnaks for support. I have three news - two good and one bad. First. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow will be ready my model! Welcome to www.skyscrapercity.com. Also, I'll post photos on www.flickr.com Second. I can come to you, but ... Third. I need a letter of invitation from the organizers of the Creative Forum (November 15-17), which should be pointed out that they pay for my trip (although I can pay for itself, without airfare). Without this letter, I cannot get a visa. That is my trip should look like a business. SkyWestOKC 08-13-2010, 02:42 PM I'm sure we can get that arranged. Someone with some more pull than I do can probably help with that. Russian Sam 08-14-2010, 03:21 AM SkyWestOKC, I hope :) I need your decision within two weeks, so I was able to shift vacation from work to middle of November. Excuse my english. And thanks again for all what you doing for me. Russian Sam 08-14-2010, 02:04 PM Hi! So, this is official statistic. 1. But I am sure someone on this forum with some more importance or knowledge of who to talk to can get this arranged. I also hope you get to come out. maestro6 08-14-2010, 03:24 PM This model looks so great, Russian Sam! You have done marvelous work. It's hard to believe that you did this without ever having seen our city in person. Like so many others, I hope you'll be able to visit us in the months to come. Thank you for selecting Oklahoma City for your modeling project. dmoor82 08-14-2010, 09:35 PM Russian Sam will construct a scale model of DT Tulsa next,I was told!maybe I will post some of Russian Sam's dt OKC pics in The Tulsanow forum to let them see what talent is coming their way! dmoor82 08-29-2010, 07:21 PM Anyone hear from Russian Sam? Glad you'll have a chance to come to OKC! rondvu 10-30-2010, 02:59 PM FYI Speaking of buildings everyone should check out the building on on the NE corner of NW 10th and Broadway. There is a Lego exhibit coming for the holidays. Pretty cool Lego building of OKC buildings. kevinpate 10-30-2010, 04:53 PM FYI Speaking of buildings everyone should check out the building on on the NE corner of NW 10th and Broadway. It happens sometimes. HOT ROD 10-31-2010, 12:52 AM Yes, Congratulations Sam. I hope you enjoy your visit to Oklahoma City and America. Please have a good time, ask questions, and take in all that you can. Maybe you can get a student visa or something from Oklahoma City University and make OKC your home, Im sure you can find a mentor to help. Russian Sam 10-31-2010, 10:46 AM Thank you, guys! Please have a good time, ask questions, and take in all that you can. Maybe you can get a student visa or something from Oklahoma City University and make OKC your home, Im sure you can find a mentor to help. It is possibly? I have tons of questions! 1. Do you have in OKC automobile museum? 2. In which buildings can go up to see the city from above? Chase Tower? 3. I would like to place flowers to national memorial and visit OKC National Memorial Museum. Can it be done? jmarkross 10-31-2010, 10:56 AM I hope Sam does make it to the Memorial and place flowers. I placed some in the Garden of Sorrow in Piskarevsky Cemetery in his hometown in 1993...one of the main reasons I went there on my way to Mamayev Kurgan to see 'Motherland Calls'... Jethrol 10-31-2010, 11:17 AM I don't think any of the downtown buildings offer a view of the city to the public....only if you work there. One of the best ways to see the city from above is to take a discovery flight in a small airplane. Oklahoma Aviation gives these for about $90/hour and they're out at Wiley Post Airport. On the discovery flight, you'll be sitting in the front seat and the pilot will also let you fly the airplane. It's incredibly fun.....here's the company that gives these. http://www.oklahomaaviation.com/ There's also another company called Air One at the same airport that provides something similar...but it looks like those are $250/hr but you can take up to 3 people on the flight so that's something. I know the owner of Air One and he's very cool so you might call him and see if he would be willing to make you a deal for just you.....if that's what you want to do. http://www.aironeflightacademy.com/ Steve 10-31-2010, 11:19 AM Thank you, guys! It is possibly? I have tons of questions! 1. Do you have in OKC automobile museum? - No. But we do have a cowboy museum and other attractions. 2. In which buildings can go up to see the city from above? Chase Tower? - Yes, we will take you to the top floor of Chase Tower. And we're also hoping to set up a helicopter ride. 3. I would like to place flowers to national memorial and visit OKC National Memorial Museum. Can it be done? - Yes. Absolutely kevinpate 10-31-2010, 11:41 AM Just some thoughts. The Route 66 museum is over at Clinton, only about an hour's hop to the west. Anyone know anybody involved in chopper tours for Christmas lights? Yeah, lights aren't on now, but perhaps a friend of friend discount rate might be available for Russian Sam. Steve 10-31-2010, 12:05 PM A helicopter ride is already being arranged by Creative Oklahoma Russian Sam 10-31-2010, 12:34 PM Thanks for the information! A helicopter ride is already being arranged by Creative Oklahoma Really? What price? For the past 4 months I surprised more and more to what you are - Americans. I like you. Via the Internet. Steve 10-31-2010, 12:39 PM Sam, the helicopter ride won't cost you anything. It will be free! This is called Oklahoma hospitality. Before you visit, can you take photographs of your city so we can see your hometown? Russian Sam 10-31-2010, 01:15 PM Sam, the helicopter ride won't cost you anything. It will be free! This is called Oklahoma hospitality. Before you visit, can you take photographs of your city so we can see your hometown? Great! I wrote to e-mail you that I do not live in St. Petersburg, not far from it - 30 miles away. I studied in St. Petersburg and working there now. All my pictures of my town you can see on my page http://www.flickr.com/photos/44533223@N08/sets/72157622643308023/ I lost my DVD disc with the originals files of photos, try to find time soon. |
