Yeah, my cousin lost everything. Very few people have flood insurance there, because most of the area has never had a flood.

If you want to stir the political pot, take it to the proper forum you worthless troll. Or better yet, smash your head into your monitor...really hard. You'll do yourself and the forum a favor.

It is a terrible situation they are going through. If FEMA and the rest aren't there doing what they should, then people will get called out for it. Best thing we can do is send whatever help and support possible to allow them to rebuild their lives.

Oh...and the news coverage...

My family there lives in Hermitage and for the most part a higher elevation so their residences have been spared. The church where my cousin is the youth/music minister housed the residents of a nursing home that was flooded. Another cousin was supposed to be playing at The Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday night and that performance had to be moved to the War Memorial Auditorium.

This has been happening since last weekend......it's not new news. I've been trying my best to get info from the Nashville region since early last week (being the weather geek I am) but due to the excess of big news stories (Gulf oil spill, Arizona immigration law, Times square bomber, Greek financial meltdown) it's been difficult. The major news networks....ALL OF THEM, virtually ignored this story. I do know that the Govt. (including Obama) has been on their toes on this one. So try again if your just trying to trash Obama.

I agree its a terrible tragedy and deserved MUCH more news coverage than it got. CNN, particularly Anderson Cooper went out of their way appologizing for not giving this story more coverage earlier in the week. I don't think the question should have been "Where the hell is Obama?"....It should be "Where the hell is the media?..........answer to that question is easy......chasing ratings.

Another thing I noticed is that it was very heartwarming to see the citizens of Nashville helping each other. They had no warning of this flood before hand (unlike Katrina). So it was inspiring to see them helping each other with no violence or looting as compared to NOLA where they refused to heed the warning to evacuate, looted, then waited for the Govt to come to the rescue.

Yes, how dare all those dark people go "looting" for fresh water to drink while all those pure, innocent, white people up in Dolly Parton Land are being nice and civil.

FAIL. :numchucks

I guess Heineken and Miller Lite could be considered "water".....

The "Katrina Shopping" was well documented.....

In Nawlins, the failure to heed warnings, the looting and the need for being rescued was true for folks of several skin tones and races.

Between the comment you reference ronronnie1, and your own comment, yours was actually the more racially charged comment.

Use or discard the opinion as you elect. I find no need for any further comment on my part on the matter.

I know a few guys who are session musicians out there. One had just moved his (eight or nine guitars @ 5K a pop) to a different cartage company, while some others stayed with one whose warehouses were flooded and lost everything.

As I understand it, the cartage company didn't insure the instruments, they just stored, moved, and set it up for the players at sessions, gigs, etc. I saw one pic of a room with like 60 guitars laid out on the floor drying out.

Worse, the instrument lockers at the Opry were in the basement, so all that stuff is gone. Amps, guitars (and most of these guys don't play off the rack stuff either)...

I'm so sorry if you misinterpreted what I said. I am the furthest thing from a racist.....as liberal and as world loving as can be. Maybe I could have phrased it better. My only intention was that the people of NOLA..Black white, brown, or blue didn't prepare ( or evacuate) for the disaster when they had several days warning. No ill feelings RR.....we always seem to get off on the wrong foot. I hope that changes.

Sorry for accusing you, westsidesooner. I appreciate you clarifying and wanting to work through it, so to speak. I'm often quick to accuse, and most of the time I'm correct, but not this time. Thanks for the understanding.

Reports indicated 12 inches of rain fell in a short time in Nashville. This would be even unreal for Oklahoma. Imagine the flooding, if this happened in Oklahoma City..

I can't imagine that much rain at one time. i still can't deal with all the hail that hit us Sunday. It caused major problems at my house. I am wishing better things for those in Nashville and the people here that were affected by storm related problems. It's no fun at all to go through this.
