Said it earlier in this thread, but I always thought (despite national struggles) Buffalo Wild Wings or Republic could have made it in this location. I think the sports focus, ability to serve as a bar and restaurant at least a bit, brand/local recognition, and good fits for a baseball game could have overcome the obstacles (lack of street level presence) and benefited from the view/Bricktown crowds.

But I agree that this is a good outcome for all parties.

Yes, those would have had a decent chance, but the space was really a liability for a restaurant. Biggest flaw to an otherwise incredible ballpark design.

A Garage would definitely kill it in Bricktown. While obviously there are several places that serve burgers, it is unbelievable that there are no burger-centric establishments. It's a real hole in the Bricktown market.

Well unfortunately Bricktown had one of the best onion burger options in town for a lot of years in Bricktown Burger and now it's a crappy chain pizza place..... I do like Tuckers though so that would be a good option for the return of the onion burger to Bricktown.

Really? They were there for close to 20 years.... May have been longer than 20 and I believe the reason they closed was due to the owners health... I'd say that was a pretty good run.

Yep. Hours (or lack thereof) were a problem. Not open past two, and never on weekends. It was better suited for the CBD. Health might have been a consideration too, but at the end of the day the revenue didn't match the land value.

By the way, the fact that people mostly don't remember Stumpy's is an injustice but indicative of why that space is now part of the extended bar at Mickey Mantle's instead. It was hands down the best burger in OKC until it closed, and would still hold its own against places like Garage et al, despite the burgers being of the no-nonsense burger-only variety. Using the trimmings from Mickey's steaks gave them an unfair advantage.

I didn't mean to besmirch the 20 year run as much as note that the hours weren't conducive to the NEXT 20.

You are correct, I _DO_ tend to forget about Stumpy's and definitely did not go there enough when I had the chance.
