View Full Version : Best Place(s) to Watch Game 5?
MikeOKC 04-27-2010, 05:38 PM Wanting to get out of the house and see the big game with a crowd. Best suggestions to watch Game 5 in Oklahoma City? Too bad we lack obvious choices such as a Champps, Fox Sports Grill, etc. Maybe we do have very similar places and I just don't know?
Where are all the Thunder fans watching it in Tampa? Heh, worth a shot...

Hey! No fair! I'm trying to find where Thunder fans are watching it in OKC!
Just kidding, of course. :tiphat: Good luck finding your random Tampan on the OKC boards. Hope you're liking it in Tampa by the way. You're missed around here!
dmoor82 04-27-2010, 06:07 PM From The comfort of your own home, with a 42' LED tv,a case of beer and some snacks,no whining children or spouse,LOL! GO Thunder!
MikeOKC 04-27-2010, 06:09 PM That's what I would normally do, but I thought it might be fun to watch it with a crowd tonight.
SoonerBent 04-27-2010, 06:10 PM Buffalo Wild Wings on NW Expressway is pretty much the "unofficial" Thunder away place to be. I've been there for a couple of away games and it's been a lot of fun.

I remember when the Hornets were here it was THE place to be, but didn't know if it had carried over. I don't hear about it so much. I wish we had a Champps here or something similar. Until someone has walked into a real sports bar (meaning that's their sole business) most don't realize what they are. What about the place in the ballpark? I'd kinda like to be in Bricktown.
Blangdon 04-27-2010, 06:24 PM Republic in the new classen curve. They have 3 $70,000 TV's that have to be 110". Plus they have a projector and screen that is massive.
Food is good and beer selection rivals anywhere in OK.

Wow! I had no idea they had that kind of AV setup! I just went to their Facebook and website and am very impressed with what they call one of, "the finest AV setups in the country."
Thanks for the suggestion!
Blangdon 04-27-2010, 06:52 PM No problem...better get there early though because I'm sure it will be packed.
Richard at Remax 04-27-2010, 08:00 PM fox and hound is a good alternative to the others mentioned.

If you are serious, try Lee Roy Selmons near the airport. That is where the OU alumni group watches OU football.

I watched Game 2 at Brix with a crowd from OKCThunderfans.com. They have a huge projector screen along with several other flat screen TVs. The food was good, and the place was packed and loud. We had a good time despite the outcome of the game.

Good to know!
I contemplated going somewhere... but its just so darn late. Tip off at 10:30 ET is nearly my bed time! But, I'll definitely be up watching the game on my couch.
OKCisOK4me 04-27-2010, 09:48 PM I'm up at Hudson's on Memorial. About 50 people in here total right now. Usually TUE is kaioke night here but they canceled it unlike last TUE so there is audio on the game, thank god! And another plus... The drinks here are a lot less than Republic. Not to mention, at least 12 40" flat screens... Oh, and all the staff are wearing their Thunder gear! Adds a touch ;)
If we're gonna spot 'em a dozen points when we play in LA, its not gonna be a series that ends well for OKC. :(
dmoor82 04-27-2010, 10:19 PM ^^^ yeah Luke it's BAD! 15 pt lead after 1 qtr. of play
dismayed 04-27-2010, 10:57 PM I'm not sure what's going on tonight. Our stats are so low right now. Think our guys are just nervous. Hope they can shake it off in the second half! [Fingers crossed].
Kerry 04-27-2010, 11:01 PM That is the worst half of basketball I have ever witnessed. 34 points! Are you kidding me? If OKC had any momentum it is gone now. How a team can play like they did in game 4 and then come out and not even attempt to run the same offense is beyond me. Couple that with no defense and I will be in bed earlier than expected.
The Thunder sucked so bad the sides of my TV caved in.
It is re-diculous.
I don't get it.
SWOKC 4 me 04-27-2010, 11:08 PM The Thunder sucked so bad the sides of my TV caved in.
Mine too! :omg: What is their problem tonight?
Kerry 04-27-2010, 11:20 PM Will the Thunder score 60 tonight?
Will the Lakers double the Thunder score?
MikeOKC 04-27-2010, 11:29 PM We've been streaky all year. Win HUGE games on the road that nobody expected you to win and then lose 3 out of 4 at home to poor teams. Rinse and repeat. I was hoping to seem them in their hot streak enough to get out of Round One in a big upset. It could still happen, but it's 20-1 that we win the next two.
dismayed 04-27-2010, 11:39 PM Yeah, our team's kind of inconsistent. They're just young.
Kerry 04-27-2010, 11:52 PM What I can't understand is when the Thunder pushes the ball inside LA's big guys start getting tired and then the Thunder start picking up the easy trip to the free throw line. Everytime they try it against LA it as worked. Then they come out tonight and start the game with 10 outside shots - and make none of them.
At one point in the first quarter 4 Thunder players were running the offense outside the three point line. The only Thunder inside the three point line was standing at the free throw line. How many shots have they taken with no player in position for a rebound? Do they travel to LA and go stupid?
If Scott Brooks knows any curse word he better start using them in game 6. These little time-out lookins TNT does need to have a lot more 'beeps' in the audio.
Jethrol 04-28-2010, 12:26 AM You know, they said we had one of the most intense shoot arounds in practice this afternoon. Think they're spent? Perhaps.
You know, Thunder game out and looked a little off. They didn't seem to have the spark they usually have and were horrible shooting. We just couldn't get anything to drop but you know, sometimes that happens.
In my mind, the only thing that really matters is that we made the playoffs. I know, I've been on a real high after our wins last week games and I really want us to destroy the Lakers. But our guys are human also and perhaps coach Brooks pushed them a bit to hard in practice? I don't know....but something sure seemed off tonight. We didn't rebound at all. Every rebound seem to have ALL the Lakers down there going for the ball.
Like the announcers keep saying....it's the first to 4 not the first to 3. They only held their home court and we still have 2 games to come back.
No matter what, I'm still very, very proud of our team and our players. I don't care that we're struggling....we're also playing really well in other games and we're gaining valuable experience. Sure it's disappointing to lose but nothing, absolutely nothing can tarnish this season. It's been spectacular and very fun to watch. I can't remember a time when I was more proud to be from OKC. The Thunder are a part of that but only a part and I for one think they fit right in here.
nik4411 04-28-2010, 12:31 AM and everyone needs to remember....we are playing the lakers...these guys are the world champions.
fox and the hound was pretty busy, took forever to get a beer, but it was $2 any draft night. not too bad.
icecold 04-28-2010, 10:36 AM What about the place in the ballpark? I'd kinda like to be in Bricktown.
That would be Coaches. To me Coaches could easily be the best sports bar in the city if they wanted to be with little effort. I went there about a month ago for the first time in forever and watched a couple of NCAA games. Coaches has so many built in advantages. I had forgotten that they have their own brewery, and apparently so did the waitress when I asked her what beers they had on tap. Anyway, the place is huge and needs no fixing up. Being at the ballpark is an awesome atmospehere that no one else can match. Problems. The food sucks. It was not good at all, one can just tell everything is prepackaged and reheated. The tvs were good back in 1994. I mean really is it that hard to have good tvs. It took BWW forever to figure it out and now they are packed all the time (although it was busy before but mainly bc of lack of competition I think). That place could be so much better with a new tv set up and a chef with a new menu. That being said the place was busy when I was in there. They seem to get so much traffic from just being in bricktown that I dont think it really matters if they try and attract the loacl consumer. Too bad, I would love to go there more often but I just wont. The space is huge, they have their own brewery and they are in the ballpark. So many built in advantages, but sucks they screw up the simple things like good tvs and good food. Rant over.
metro 04-28-2010, 03:47 PM yeah Brix, Republic and BWW are the obvious choices.
MikeOKC 04-28-2010, 04:23 PM Well, I can confirm that the suggestion for Republic was on target. Absolutely beautiful setup. HUGE screens!
