Prunepicker 04-02-2010, 07:00 PM Trying to come up with 10 pop/rock songs is hard! I've been out of touch
with the rock and pop scene for over 30 years and many of those tunes have
faded. I toured with bands that performed covers back in the 70's. I listen
to KRXO on occasion and hear tunes that bring back memories.
I'm doing some listening right now and will come with a list shortly, or tally.

for the rest of my life! Maybe I'll have to bow out of this one.

That's a pretty good mix you got there today and yeah, Sam Stone almost brings tears to my eyes. I know several people that the song fit.

They had a segment interviewing John Prine a couple of weeks ago on World Cafe on KXT 91.7 | Public Music Radio for Dallas Fort Worth Denton (http://www.kxt.org) and he said it was based on a composite of a couple of guys he grew up with.

Hey, you've got to prove to us you're real....Just kidding, I've got bets with about 6 people, Prunepicker has bets with 17 , PapaOu has 11 bets that you're going to come to the next meeting........There's big money riding on this....
I swear I'm real...Not Bettie Page though. I may just put up my profile pic from FB to prove it! As far as the next meeting goes, I will tell you that I will be unavailable on both April 17th and 24th (family in on the 17th and on a girl's trip to Laguna Beach on the 24th). But, for the May meeting...that just might work out this time. When will it be?

decepticobra 04-05-2010, 08:05 AM [QUOTE=Doug Loudenback;313497] Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meat Loaf
that meatloaf song is atrocious, especially when peeps choose to sing that at karaoke bars, cause the damn song lasts like 15 minutes long. its tied as one of the cheesiest duets alongside that campy summer nights song from the grease soundtrack.
it makes me wanna slit their throats just for choosing to karaoke this song.
the only song longer than that song is peter framton's do you feel like i do...but that song kicks ass.

It's a decent enough song, but for about 5 years you couldn't have the KATT on for more than an hour without hearing it. Just got burned out.

Can't say that I've ever experienced someone getting so pissed just because someone else likes a tune that you despise, though ... you even want to slit someone's throat on account of it? My oh my.
To each his/her own, decepticobra. I didn't say that YOU should/need to/whatever like it, I just said that I DID, and, last time I checked, I'm entitled. I hope that I'm wearing a neck brace should we ever happen to be in the same place at the same time.

Great list of artists, LD - how about the songs that they sing that you could listen to for the rest of your life?
