Yeah I have a few friends that are like that...

I'm an online gamer through and through, my first online game was 007:Nightfire on PC and have been hooked ever since. I usually don't even buy a game now unless it has a good multiplayer. There are a couple of games that if the story is good enough and can make it through the whole game. I have a huge back log of games that I just never finished because I would get bored with the story or just wanna get online and play.

I've logged many hours, maybe days, playing this game!

Yeah, I have spent about 25 hours so far and I love it, even in it's alpha stage. If you play for any amount of time you are going to come away with a great story.

Spent some time at a friend last week who had an Xbox One. I came away from it thinking it had some really cool features. I liked how you can watch cable through it and you can tell it by saying "Xbox + command." If you cursed in NBA 2k14 it would give you a technical foul. However it froze too much and speaking/hand motions weren't as fluid as I had hoped. The battlefield 4 graphics were almost as good as high end PC so I was impressed with that. I really don't care for windows 8 and it had that interface. Seemed more of an entertainment machine with a game console included. Ill probably end up getting one some time though, maybe at the first price cut.

A little birdy told me the Elder Scrolls Online is having another beta this weekend. The same birdy told me that they{ZeniMax} have tons of spit and polish to do before April or the game may be a major flop.

Yeah, I have a beta invite for this weekend... not sure if I am gonna use it though. I have been getting invites for the past few months but it just hasn't really interested me.... Maybe I'll check it out and it can change my mind.. I do think it will still flop though, just like SWTOR did. I think that monthly fee is going to kill it, when you have great "buy to play" games out there not to mention it's not being made by Bethesda... I dunno, I could just be 100% wrong too.

Specs please?I'll put together some specs specifically from Tiger Direct. For the longest time I wanted a quad monitor set-up but now I think I will just upgrade my existing dual screen to a better dual monitors. I will likely just connect my commuter via HDMI to my TV.

First rule of pc building/gaming is to stay away from anything that follows under the words Best Buy and/or the Geek Squad. And that includes all sales/service.

Locally I would recommend Computer Masters which has 3 metro locations and as far as ordering parts online newegg is pretty good Computer Parts, Computer Hardware - Newegg.com (http://www.newegg.com/Computer-Hardware/Store)

For your processor you have basically 2 choices, AMD and Intel. Both offer many diff models depending on your needs and both are great but Intel is probably a notch better as far as performance and AMD offers a better value for your buck.
Then youll need a solid video card which fall under those made by Nvidia and/or ATI/AMD. I prefer ATI/AMD but some prefer Nvidia. Apples and oranges.

You will also need at least 4 Gigs Ram but ideally I would have 8. Im pretty sure just for gaming youll never go over needing 3-4 gigs so get 8 to be safe.
Get a good case as well as a good power supply to power it all and then you will need a HDD {hard disk drive} to store everything on{operating system aka windows, games, programs etc}. I got a 2TB HDD for around 100 bucks summer before last.
So basically you will need these parts to put together a good gaming pc.
CPU/Processor......
GPU/Video Card.......
Motherboard......
RAM......
PSU/Power Supply.....
Case........
Monitor....
Keyboard/Mouse....
And don't forget a copy of Windows to keep Mr Gates rolling in the semolians.

I did the beta weekend for ESO during the invite session the last time. I liked it, but I don't see any point in going back and testing the beginning content over and over again with very few changes to it. If they gave premade characters are higher levels to test different aspects that would be one thing.

I think "flop" will just depend on the definition. SWTOR is profitable right now and still going with a decent player base. I think the F2P mode is too restrictive and essentially just gives you KOTOR3 for the level content and then dies. I enjoyed it when I played it after launch but the end game content was just so weak that it couldn't keep us together. I've resubbed to WOW since then (I know, I know) after a 5 months break and have been enjoying it again.

I don't think the monthly fee will kill it, I just think people need to not expect subscription numbers compared to WOW. No one is going to ever meet the level WOW did (12 mil) or what they currently are (7 mil). Too much out there to choose from.

For anyone interested in MMOs/RPGs in general and/or fans of Lord British and the Ultima Series they have a new title due at the end of the year titled "shroud of the avatar" https://www.shroudoftheavatar.com/ It has already got like 3 million in funds from backing from the fans and all those who backed at 45 or more will get a alpha/beta testing period beginning in the next couple of days. From what ive seen/read about the title im hoping that it blows all the competition out of the water. Perhaps Ultima Online 2 would have been a better title.

Finally got a PS4 though Amazon. I really like it and it is very straightforward to operate compared to the xbox one with the Kinect. Only downside is there aren't too many games our right now for it that I haven't played already so after Killzone I am in a holding pattern til Infamous Second Son

As for the PC question above, if you aren't comfortable with having someone build it for you, I have had great success with buying gaming PC's from Alienware and Dell. A plus from Alienware is you still can have windows 7 on them.

And just a random question, what do you guys think about the steam machine? I really couldn't tell you exactly what it is. Is it a console or does it replace your PC? Regardless it looks like it is aiming to suck in a whole new demographic of gamers that have never played many of the PC's games we've been playing for years.

I spent way too much time playing XCOM this weekend. Fun as hell, though I'm not sure if it will have any replay value for me.

Regarding ESO, my hope at this point is that its semi-success or outright failure won't bury Bethesda. I will be really disappointed if we don't get a Fallout 4 or an Elder Scrolls 6 because they killed their company with an MMO.

I don't expect to pick up a steam machine for the same reason I don't already own a console. My PC works just fine for pretty much anything I want to play. Its goal is definitely to pull console gamers over to the light side, but I don't know how much of a success it will be.

Has anybody been playing the Titanfall Beta? I downloaded it on Saturday and I must say this game is amazing. I was a huge fan of the CoD series all the way up to MW2, when the Vince Zampella and Jason West left Infinity Ward a few years ago I got really excited by what they might bring to the table, and this game has me so excited I feel like a little kid again. I would recommend checking it out if you are a fan of FPS games, the beta is opened till Wednesday night.

It was cool and all but I found it to be extremely repetitive after a few hours and nothing really jumped out as me as some sort of game changer. ironically it felt just a juiced up CoD. plus the lack of a single player campaign/story mode is a con for me as well. I just don't have the time to play all those hours online to level up like I used to. but I can see where it would be right up someone's alley.

I think for me it was an instant nostalgia kick in the butt... It felt exactly like CoD:MW2 and that was the last good CoD. I was playing the Beta Scramble, or whatever it was called where you played all three gametypes at different times so it never really felt all that repetitive. I see on reddit where people are moaning about it being published by EA, and yeah I hate EA as much as the next guy but I fully trust Vince and Jason, those guys made the 2 games that got me into PC gaming (MoH:AA and CoD1).

As a backer of the Kickstarter in question, I'm pretty pissed about it. I didn't realize what I was actually funding was some dude getting rich.

That said, Carmack is still there and is singing the party line. The long term question in my mind is if he sticks around or eventually bails on the company and goes back to ID. I have at least a certain amount of faith that as long as he is there they will be remaining true to the original vision of the company.

For the strategy fans out there. I am pretty excited for this, I loved Civ III and Civ V so hopefully this will be good.
