Not very crowded either. Thomas Vu 07-21-2016, 10:42 AM Hm, Overholser. I forgot about that place. May go over there as Hefner contains next to nothing. jerrywall 07-21-2016, 11:25 AM Mitch Park was packed with pokemon hunters this past weekend. There were a dozen or so pokestops, multiple gyms, and tons of "wild" pokemon. Met quite a few folks. baralheia 07-21-2016, 04:05 PM Pokestops and Gyms are holdovers from the world of Ingress (Niantic's previous augmented reality game). Anywhere that has a bunch of portals in Ingress is sure to also have a bunch of stuff in PoGo. Good places off the top of my head: OU Health Sciences Center, Oklahoma History Museum, State Capitol Park... Basically look for any area that has a lot of landmarks like statues, fountains, historical markers, and the like. The higher traffic the area is, the higher the chance of finding wild pokemon, too. FighttheGoodFight 07-25-2016, 09:18 AM I found it funny when I went to Penn Square on Thursday. The gyms there had people owning them with 600CP Pokemon. I took them over in no time. Compared to here on OU Campus we have 2000+CP Pokemon owning gyms. Impossible to beat sometimes. Colbafone 07-25-2016, 09:51 AM I work right next to Penn Square. That particular one is near impossible to hold since it is so active. So people take it, then throw on a weaker Pokémon, since it will just be taken in minutes anyway. Ive never seen it higher that about a level 4 gym. Whereas the old Samuel Gordon clock is currently level 8 and the law firm(I think that's what it is) just north of North Penn Plaza is currently level 9. They aren't as active, obviously. Richard at Remax 07-26-2016, 10:52 AM Just finished the indie game Inside, from the same people who made Limbo. It was a breath of fresh air, def worth playing. Different game than I thought I'm really debating on getting it, I started watching a let's play of it last night but stopped because the story seems really interesting and I kind of want to figure it out for myself. In the Alpha are all the story elements implemented? If not I may just wait till the full release. FighttheGoodFight 08-10-2016, 01:25 PM Anybody playing WoW getting ready for the expansion at the end of the month? I'll play when they bring back Vanilla. Nostalrius was fun David 08-10-2016, 02:19 PM I'll be playing, most likely. The expansion sounds fun. elitespy 08-11-2016, 07:34 PM I've been playing the pre-patch and getting ready for the expansion. I'm really enjoying it so far. I didn't play vanilla, I started in Cataclysm so I know I'm pretty late to the game. venture 08-11-2016, 08:07 PM Ready to get back to some new content and raiding. Invasions are pretty fun for now, but they'll never live up to the zombie invasion. ;) I've been around since the end of Vanilla, so I'm old. :-P Granted I also remember playing the original RTS games. elitespy 08-12-2016, 09:38 AM Yeah, I played Warcraft 3 a lot but I was anti WoW when it first came out. I was one of those insufferable Guild Wars fan boys so I was NEVER gonna play WoW. Middle school me was an idiot though, haha. Me and my small group of friends have been trying to do Pandaria Heroic 25 mans with just 3/4 people, it's a good challenge to get us ready for the updated stuff. FighttheGoodFight 08-12-2016, 10:25 AM I really loved Vanilla through WotLK. The game just feels so different now. Maybe I just outgrew it but I loved the old days. The game felt really difficult and the community was just so fun. David 08-12-2016, 10:45 AM For me, Vanilla through WotLK was the golden age, Cata was iffy, Panda land was surprisingly fun, and Warlords was fun initially that went downhill over the course of the expansion. The new features they have planned for Legion with world events and with building your artifact weapon over the expansion have a lot of potential. The former reminds me of the zone events in Rift, and that MMO was really interesting to play. venture 08-13-2016, 08:47 PM BC and Wrath were great xpacs, but also probably because they highlights a lot of the heroes from WC3. I echo that Warlords started off good, I really enjoyed the questing in that one. However, the lack of content for 14 months and Garrisons just killed it. The Legion pre-event has been pretty good so far. Demon Hunters are quite fun to play - first tried them out at Blizzcon last year. Hopefully things come back on track a bit this xpac, otherwise the uproar at Blizzcon in a few months should be pretty loud. :-P elitespy 08-18-2016, 08:48 AM Going back to Karazhan, this should be pretty fun. I never raided in BC but my friends who did are really excited about this being a 5 man. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fAtcpvJ6lc elitespy 09-19-2016, 04:01 PM PC gamers, what keyboards do you guys use? For under $100 I like the CM Storm Quickfire TK, Logitech G710 (gotta get it on sale), or maybe the Rosewill RK-9000 (v2). I personally use Coolermaster Keyboards just because I am used to them over the years. I have a logitech for my mouse and I would buy one of their keyboards in a heartbeat. Small question, do you need a number pad/10 key? I dunno if I need one or not. It would be really weird to not have one but I think I could get used to it. jerrywall 09-20-2016, 09:21 AM I tend to use the number pad when gaming, but a lot of times it's because I've mapped keys there. Especially MMO's like World of Warcraft. David 09-30-2016, 11:11 AM I haven't done any organized raiding since Wrath, just been fairly casually playing since then. LFR has been nice enough to give me what I want to see of the raid storyline, though I did dabble in the flex raiding mode at the end of MoP. I have been super enjoying Legion, it really feels like a home run so far. elitespy 09-30-2016, 02:40 PM Yeah, I've really enjoyed it as well. I can't wait for 7.1 either, I never had the chance to raid Karazhan so being able to go back in with a smaller group should be fun. We have full cleared the raid on Normal twice now, and when I say we I mean the four guys in my guild and the pugs we picked up, lol. Throckmorton 10-20-2016, 09:51 AM Any interesting news about video games today? UnFrSaKn 10-20-2016, 09:54 AM Oh I think so. Just a little. FighttheGoodFight 10-20-2016, 10:54 AM My body is ready for RDR2. I might wait for PC but I'm not sure I can. Also the new Nintendo system looks interesting. I'll wait to see if it really has good 3rd party support. But I want the new Zelda game regardless. elitespy 10-20-2016, 11:17 AM Here is the initial list of third party partners they released this morning. I'm really excited by this list so far, I hope it continues to grow. I'm a Nintendo fan boy, and this will be a day one purchase for me. If the games they showed in the trailer are launch titles that is an awesome group of games. Zelda, A new 3D Mario game, a new Mario Kart, Skyrim remastered, NBA2k, and what looks like Splatoon 2? Yeah, I'm pretty excited for this. https://www.nintendo.co.jp/corporate/release/2016/img_161020/partners.png FighttheGoodFight 10-20-2016, 11:50 AM It is also said this is run on NVIDIA. Looks to be an X2 chip which is ARM based. We will see how devs respond to that since the PS4 and Xbox One are on the same architecture elitespy 01-17-2017, 03:28 PM If anybody watched the Switch presentation last Thursday what's everybody's thoughts on it? I got my pre-order Friday morning but I'm a self proclaimed Nintendo fan boy so I was always going to get one. I am however a little turned off by the launch lineup, I was hoping for something a little more robust when it came to choice of games. Zelda and Mario of course are going to be great and some of the JRPG's they showed off look really good IMO, after that I really couldn't care less about what was announced. I guess if we are honest here nobody buys Nintendo consoles for the third party games, we buy Nintendo for the Nintendo games. As far as the Switch itself is concerned I am really liking the tech side of it. I can't wait for the videos of people breaking it down and explaining how everything works. FighttheGoodFight 01-17-2017, 03:37 PM I was all hyped for the Switch then they announced paid for online gaming... Wow a company that has never gotten online right is going to charge for it now? That was a big turn off. I might buy it a year later for 100 less dollars to play mario and zelda. I feel like if this fails Nintendo just needs to sell their third party games on the other two consoles and PC. They could make a killing. I am guessing the architecture of this deal won't be able to run any new AAA games that are graphic intensive. They showed Skyrim but that games is pretty old now. Also if they announce a console Pokemon people might buy it up. We shall see how it sells in a year. elitespy 01-17-2017, 04:19 PM I was all hyped for the Switch then they announced paid for online gaming... I'm guessing they are using the free online till the fall to iron out all the kinks and whatnot. Something that does bother me though is using your cell phone or "smart device" for the voice chat and inviting friends to games. I really want to know more about that whole situation. Thomas Vu 01-17-2017, 06:29 PM If the quality of the net play increases, I'd gladly pay that cost. Plutonic Panda 01-17-2017, 10:14 PM Has anyone have any thoughts on the Friday the 13th game? SoonerDave 01-21-2017, 08:50 AM Sorry, old guy warning :) :) This may be considered a bit of a one-off on this thread, so if it's a "hijack" I'll be glad to start a separate one....but I'm trying to find some game titles for the XBox One that are more puzzle-solving oriented rather than FPS. I'm thinking along the lines of the old Portal series, where the story required the player to apply logic and solve puzzles of varying degrees of complexity to advance to the next phase. Anyone have any suggestions? I've been watching my daughter play Final Fantasy and it's just not my cup of tea. I've never been any more than a casual gamer, but the old games I did play back in the day were of the (very) old Infocom ilk, like Starcross and Zork, where the key was puzzles and logic games and less on the shoot-em-up. Anything like that exist these days? Richard at Remax 01-21-2017, 10:13 AM Portal and Portal 2 are about as good as it gets in regards to puzzle solving. But other than those two I can't really help you out. I've never played minecraft but that seems to be popular. On another note since it has been a somewhat slow time of year I have been on an Indie kick. I've played Soma, Inside, Gone Home, and Virginia all over the last month or so. Each are pretty unique and have their own interesting angle. Even better is that they are all story oriented, with Inside and Virginia making you draw your own conclusions as there is no dialogue. I recommend all of them. Especially Zelda titles, a lot of that RPG is puzzle, mazes, and problem solving. Even the battles are strategic. I bought a 3Ds XL a few years ago and have been thrilled to replay ocarina of time and majoras mask again on remastered graphics and bug fixes. There's scribblenauts and puzzle games galore. But for the Xbox one you might try a live gold account and browse the downloadable games. If you want 150+ hours of solid gold home run fun just pick up GTA V. It will have you grinning no matter what style game you're into. It was my first gta since the birds eye car theft shareware games in the 90's and it was a blast. I didn't dare take it to the online stage when I finished the story. 6 years later people are still all over that community dropping real world $$ for in game cash. I'm already on XBL from our previous XBox that had more or less been retired until my kids surprised me with an XB1 with a 4K BluRay player (which is what I really wanted) for Christmas. And I've spent the first month playing PacMan (which, as good as the version on the Xbox is, is nearly impossible to play with the full 360-degree joystick rather than the fixed, four-position joystick the original arcade game had) and Carcassonne (a thoroughly addictive tile and strategy game). I saw a couple of intriguing titles on the games list that I might explore further. I'll admit I'm probably jaded and completely spoiled by both the Portal games - I watched my kids play through those two and I absolutely loved them....I just never got to PLAY them LOL. (Ah, those of us who are kids at heart). Heck, I might even give GTA a try :) chuck5815 01-22-2017, 09:25 PM This isn't going to help you for Xbox one but there are TONS of Nintendo titles in that realm. I get the sense that it plays on the Pro much like it plays on the regular PS4, which is a bit of a disappointment given the extra horsepower available in the Pro. In any event, it's just an all-around fantastic game Ginkasa 01-23-2017, 08:02 AM GTAV came out on the PS4 two years prior to the release of the PS4 Pro. Uptowner 01-23-2017, 08:22 AM My playthrough of GTA V on the XB1 was superb. I ran into a glitch or two. Which I think is to be expected with any game of that immense size and scope. Keep in mind while there are lots of shooting in that game, there's a plethora of aiming assists and difficulty levels to accommodate all skill levels and let the player immerse in the experience of playing the role of dirty gangster with the heart of gold or not depending on how you decide to play it. It's very open ended. If you finish gta v and LOVE it you should at least try a Bethesda game. Or if none of that works I still push the Wii U (not as a console, it's a terrible console) for its exclusive content like Scribblenauts, which you would flip for if you're a portal fan, and the fact that they've ported just about every Zelda game since N64 to it in 1080p HD with bug fixes. And the Nintendo content can be had quite cheap. Realistically, these days a console costs a little more than 4x $59.99 titles. So if having 2 (or) gives you access to the content you want it's not a crazy proposition. Yes, I'm aware. My point is that many of the studios have recently optimized older titles to take advantage of the Pro's more powerful specs, and I don't get the sense that Rockstar has released an update which optimizes the game for the Pro. There was talk about it in November, but the most recent patch seems focused exclusively on GTA online. Ginkasa 01-23-2017, 02:32 PM Yes, I'm aware.
