I went during the first Thunder game. It was packed, but the atmosphere wasn't nuts. That is probably attributable to the Thunder never really leading in the game and the Lakers controlling it. This next game should make the atmosphere a bit more electric.

Same here, but I left at halftime. It was starting to get packed as time went on during the 1st half, but it definitely wasn't sports fan crazy. I think my wife and I and a few other people outside were the only people there to specifically watch the game and eat. The general crowd was more about the yuppie bar crowd hitting on chicks and whatnot.

This place basically seems to have inherited Flip's clientele, which might be something of a disappointment for those concerned less with networking and being seen than with the quality of the cooking.

I've generally enjoyed everything I've eaten here though. Considering that they're still working out kinks, I've been perfectly pleased with both the food and the service. It's a good concept for the city, so I'm hopeful for continued success and perhaps even some new menu items added down the road.

The two occasions I have been to Republic have both been great. Couldn't ask for better food quality and presentation, and the wait staff were really on their game despite a clearly hectic atmosphere.

Aesthetically, it's all well executed - but if you haven't been yet, get ready to watch some teevee. For real - They're everywhere, at every glance. Especially the big one over the bar ... if SkyNet ever becomes self aware, it'll probably happen here first. But resting in a comfy booth, after a few Zepplelin's and some potato skins, even they fade into the background.

Also, it's a small thing ... I couldn't help wonder who's going to dust all those bottles along the bar? Brought back teenage memories of keeping the flair tidy when I was a busboy at La Roca back in the day.

My husband and I went to RePUBlic for the first time last Saturday afternoon at about 4:00. It was pretty busy for what seemed like a non-peak time, but there were a few empty seats at the bar. We grabbed a couple and waited for one of the four bartenders to come by. Two of them stood around watching TV, and a third came by twice to check on the couple seated immediately to our right, with no acknowledgment of our presence. We eventually got up and left after about ten minutes, without any of the bartenders even giving us a beer list.

How disappointing. I was really, really looking forward to checking this place out, since the menu looked appealing, the beer list impressive, and I adore the other restaurants in the A Good Egg group. Maybe our bad experience could be chalked up to simply getting the initial kinks worked out, but it sounds like a couple other people have had similar experiences.

Maybe its not so bad anymore...we called ahead before heading out the door, and they said it would be a half hour (but no guarantees). We got there and a table for 2 opened up as soon as we walked through the door (and we happened to be next on the list because we called ahead). This was at 8pm on a Friday.

Food was AWESOME!!!! And they have the best dessert EVER...Young's Double Chocolate Stout Ice Cream Float....:Smiley051:Smiley051:Smiley051

Thought I should share a word of praise for Shannon over at Republic…..guy has really gone out of his way to make me feel welcome there. Took me to see the kegs a week or so ago and was eager to show me the new beers that they got in last night on a visit to celebrate a friend’s birthday.

The cute little curly haired blonde is always wonderful as well.

I was there for one of the Thunder playoff games and was extremely impressed. I could not believe the A/V setup. It's great to know we have this in Oklahoma City. Nobody else compares. In fact, I've never seen a better A/V setup anywhere. It's like watching basketball on movie theater screens. (Well...not quite...but darn close). Seriously though, Republic is one cool place.

I've been there a few times and like it. They describe themselves as a pub but it is far from it. It's also different than most sports bars due to the food selection and the beer selection. For sports it is a good set up.

Technically, they describe themselves as a gastropub.

I ate there again yesterday afternoon. We split the potato skins and pub pretzel as appetizers, then I had the nachos as my meal (more vegetarian options please!); all of the above were quite good. I noticed a little too late that the menu states that they will be happy to create custom beer flights, so I'm definitely going to take advantage of that next time.

Our server both times has been Sonny, who has given some of the best service I've ever had. Even when the place was crowded with a long wait list, we never felt rushed or hurried away when we stayed to catch the end of the game. He is very knowledgeable about both the food and drink menus, and is extremely polite and professional.

It's not as if this stuff is mutually exclusive. I eat at 105 Degrees all the time (I especially love their Sunday Suppers), attend most of their culinary classes, and recommend it to the unfamiliar as a "must-see" OKC destination.

You don't go to 105 Degrees for the beer selection though, and I prefer to have a little food with my hops so that I'm not face down in my booth after one drink. I'm not asking for a radically different menu - something as simple as "all of our burgers can be substituted for a black bean patty" would be great.

This is the only Good Egg restaurant in which I have not eaten and it has to do with a limited veggie selections. All of the other GEG restaurants have ample selections for us vegetarians which is somewhat surprising since one is a BBQ place and one is a steak house.

Tried to eat at Republic today to Celebrate the Rowland victory over AG Edmondson, but at noon there was a 45 minute wait for an 8-top (opted for Pearl's instead). This would have been my 5th visit and I really like the place. So far I've done the Republic Burger, the Fish and Chips, pretzel, mac and cheese and donuts! All was excellent. The atmosphere is great an the prices are reasonable. As already shared by some, the Fish and Chips are some of the best in town. That said, the last time I had them with the wife they were a bit greasy. Looking forward to trying other menu items soon!

RePUBlic is my standby lunch spot now. I work in Nichols Hills, so it is just as quick to run over to RePUBlic and sit at the bar as it is to go through a Drive Thru. I try to get something different every time. I'm in there about once a week.

Faves: Belle Isle Burger, Pretzel, Mac and Cheese, Salmon Sliders, scotch egg, 3 buck salad, potato skins

Not So Much: Nachos (but I am not crazy about pulled meat) and the fish and chips. I know people have raved about the fish and chips but seemed excessively battery.

One thing I like is that the BLT comes with fried green tomatoes. I have ordered those as a side previously.

My favorite bartender is Dan Gordan (not the jeweler)

I guess I'm going to be one of the few naysayers about Republic. Hubby and I tried it on the Friday evening of memorial day weekend. We were disappointed. While we got in quickly, which was a plus, everything else was marginal at best.

Husband had the beef tenderloin cobb salad - portion was a bit small. The beef was great, but the dressing was bland.

I had a Caesar salad and a cup of cheese soup. The soup was great, and the salad was o.k. I realize is isn't a traditional Caesar, which is fine, but the dressing but there wasn't enough garlic in the dressing for my taste.

The drinks...that's where we really had the problem. The beer that hubby ordered was fine, just a bit sparse. I ordered a Sidecar at $11. Now mind you, I have no problem paying well for a good libation - for example, a Cosmo at The Boulevard is $14 but worth every penny (served in the larger glass, filled almost to the brim). But if you saw the drink I was served for $11, you would have laughed. Medium to large martini glass, filled 1/4 full - and I'm not kidding. I seldom feel ripped off, but we did that night.

On top of that, our service was horrible - which we didn't expect on what I perceived to be a slower night for them. Hubby is a great tipper, but left only what proper manners and decorum required that evening

I can't say that we WON'T go back, but there was nothing to compel us to give it another chance.

Live in N. Dallas and came back to Okc for the Memorial Day weekend. Republic was suggested by a few friends and I have to say, I am impressed. There were 10 of us (by the end of the night) and the bar tab was VERY reasonable (no food, drinks only). Service was so so, but this very well could have been a bad night. We ate @ Pearls and althogh it was OK, I still miss the old location - it's just not the same... :(

Finally made it for lunch this afternoon. Got there around 11:15. There was no wait whatsoever. Got the appetizer out real quick. We had potato skins, which were excellent.

We both ordered sandwiches and no sides. I swear it must have taken 45 minutes to get our order. That's a dealbreaker for me during the lunch hour. I start my afternoon early, and was fortunate not to have had anyone scheduled early this afternoon.

I had a beef tenderloin sandwich, it was great. My only complaint is that the bread was of a consistency which seemed to have the same effect on my mouth as dry Captain Crunch cereal--kind of left it feeling a tad bit mutilated. This wasn't an issue as I simply at the sandwich open-faced and it was fine. My friend got a reuben. It looked great. Only complaint was that along with whatever meat comes on that (corned beef?), he got a piece of pure fat. That was a tad on the disgusting side.

I'll be back for happy hour sometime, but not for lunch unless I hear they do something about their ridiculously slow kitchen.

Sorry for the wait times....no excuse here. Did it take 45 minutes to get your entrees from time of order or from the time your app was finished? IMO, it's hard to get in and out of any place when having an app as well as a main course. Prolly should have brought all courses at once. FYI..the Pork Belly Rueben has pork belly on it as well as a housemade saurkraut.

App was out quick. The entrée took forever it seemed. The Reuben looked superb. The food was wonderful. The long stretch of time was between receiving the app and later the entrée.

Yeah, the Reuben looks like it's probably one of, not the best in town. No doubt the ingredients are top-notch.

I have a complaint about Republic. Ive gone there numerous times since it has opened and a few of them have been for big sporting events. On some of these big events they have had some of their bigger tables empty and reserved, yet they dont take reservations. The hostess told me that they were reserved by the manager. I suppose a restaurant can do as it pleases but I dont like the fact that they dont take reservations yet they do for certain privileged, in-the-know folks. I cant say I like this policy. I say if you are going to reserve tables for big events then just openly advertise it and charge people for a reservation. Say someone wants to have a table for the super bowl, just charge them $100 or whatever to hold it. I just dont like the we-dont-take-reservations-unless-you-are-special policy.
