jbkrems 01-15-2010, 12:17 PM I don't recommend Paseo Grill. There are better restaurants.
bandnerd 01-15-2010, 12:40 PM Unlike the above poster, I would recommend it. It's a little on the expensive side for dinner, but I have had nothing but fantastic meals there, for both lunch and dinner.
JohnDenver 01-15-2010, 01:09 PM I think it is a perfect upscale girls night out location. I recommend it. I have been nothing but happy with it..
OKCMallen 01-15-2010, 01:51 PM You'll enjoy. CALL FOR RESERVATIONS. Mushroom soup is awesome.
positano 01-15-2010, 03:55 PM Outstanding. Hard to beat the atmosphere. The duck has always been a winner when I've been there.
jbkrems 01-15-2010, 05:35 PM I've had the duck there. Sorry positano, but Signature Grill in Edmond is way better, as is The Metro Wine Bar in Nichols Hills. The duck is too dry at Paseo Grill.
positano 01-15-2010, 05:46 PM You have me at a disadvantage, as I haven't eaten at Signature yet. That being said, the duck has never been dry when I've had it at Paseo. To the extent that it makes a difference, when the server asks how I want it cooked I always defer to the recommendation of the kitchen. Each time it has come out on the rarer side of medium. I think many kitchens overcook poultry / fowl if you don't give them license to prepare it otherwise.
I'll be anxious to give Signature a try.
CCOKC 01-15-2010, 06:42 PM Paseo is one of my favorites. I have never had anything but good service there. I am a vegetarian so I have never had the duck but my husband loves the pork chop. I especially love the mushroom soup. It is also a quiet restaurant since a lot of their tables are located in intimate booths.
easternobserver 01-15-2010, 08:26 PM Very good, mostly-inspired food, interesting atmosphere, slightly overpriced. Better for a long evening.
nik4411 01-15-2010, 11:12 PM i've never been there myself.
but mushroom soup sounds very very tasty.
and the duck is most likely better at my house haha

ImTheDude 01-18-2010, 03:49 PM The mushroom soup is outstanding, other than that and the atmosphere, it is just ok. Signature Grill blows it out of the water, I have tried almost everything on the menu there and have not been dissapointed. Its my wife and I's new favorite spot and have been eating there almost once a week for a while now.
gmwise 01-18-2010, 08:27 PM No Signature Grill isnt all that.
jbkrems 01-18-2010, 09:00 PM Signature Grill is way better than Paseo Grill... I had dinner there tonight and it was delish!
ImTheDude 01-19-2010, 04:08 AM No Signature Grill isnt all that.
If you are judging by quality of food, I wouldn't put any other restaurant in OKC above it.

Really? That's some lofty praises. It's hard to imagine that no one has higher quality food. Does signature serve prime beef? I've been hearing about this place alot, maybe need to check it out. But I usually don't do much dining way up in Edmond.
Back to paseo grill. It can be a bit pricey but the food is outstanding, especially the seabass.
ImTheDude 01-19-2010, 09:42 AM Yes, I would put their filet equal to what you get at Boulevard, but its quite a bit less $$ and the sides are much better. I've eaten at all the others in OKC many times (Coach House, Michael's, Boulevard...) and if given the choice, I would pick SG every time.

ImTheDude 01-19-2010, 12:50 PM Not at all, just a favorite restaurant that I would like to see do well.

gmwise, not everyone on heres a Democrat!!

By knocking one of greater service and quality..lol
betts 01-19-2010, 08:41 PM Not everyone wants to drive to Edmond to eat. I love the Paseo Grill. Is it the best restaurant in town? Probably not, but it's well worth visiting. I actually recommend lunch over dinner, and have absolutely never had a bad lunch there, having tried multiple items on the menu. The night-time menu is a little less interesting, IMO.
gmwise 01-20-2010, 02:06 AM Well at least this thread so far hasnt gone political..lol

I wouldn't drive to Edmond to eat, too many Republicans!!
fredfredburger 01-20-2010, 02:28 PM I like Signature Grill. There's too many gays at Paseo

Well I'm glad you're leaving.its been uncomfortable to say "No.thank you you're not my type" to someone your size.
Oh GAWD the Smell! 11-05-2015, 01:15 PM Is this really the most current thread on this restaurant? My wife wants to go, and I can't find much on it recently from you fine folks of OKCTalk.
Sooo...How is it? :D
shawnw 11-05-2015, 01:20 PM It's yummy and nice ambiance, though I admit I've only eaten there once.
Mr. Cotter 11-05-2015, 01:22 PM It's fantastic. Have a great time!
Roger S 11-05-2015, 01:23 PM All I have ever had there is the Chicken Pot Pie and the Wedge Salad but I enjoyed them both a lot... A friend had the Reuben and it looked really good but she didn't offer me a bite... So I can't verify how good it was.
Oh GAWD the Smell! 11-06-2015, 03:51 PM Thanks guys. We're going to eat there tonight. :)
Richard at Remax 11-06-2015, 05:41 PM Its terrific. Enjoy
Oh GAWD the Smell! 11-07-2015, 02:37 PM It was pretty damn good. I'm not a big fan of olives or hummus, but the wife is...So we had that for an appetizer. And despite my previous statement about not liking those things, I ate it until there was no more to eat lol.
Had the filet, it was cooked perfectly.
We'll be back. :)
sooner88 11-24-2015, 11:28 AM We wanted to try something new, and for whatever reason have never been to Paseo Grill.
The restaurant has a great ambiance and is very intimate. We were sat in one of the booths that has a privacy curtain... The booths are private enough you don't really notice any other patrons.
We had the fried green beans to start (delicious), and the sea bass and filet. Both entrees were cooked perfectly, and since they come with 2 sides the portions are pretty big. We finished with the bread pudding which was also really good. I'm surprised I had not been there yet, but this will definitely be added to the rotation.
^
I have not been there either, so thanks for the report.
I tend to completely forget about the Paseo with everything going on elsewhere.

It's a great district. There are a lot of renovations happening in the older 8-plexes in the neighborhood that were previously run down and dilapidated. This is slowly but surely transforming the feel of the neighborhood.
Hopefully Via Paseo and Pueblo on Paseo get built and give the neighborhood a boost. There is also a prime lot, just north of the Pump Bar, where the right development could be an excellent bridge between the Paseo and Uptown/23rd.
Mr. Cotter 11-25-2015, 11:34 AM Bring a date, get the Surf and Turf for two. That crab can't be beat.

The gf is not a seafood fan or I would have done that. Think it was 2 6 oz filets and a pound of crab legs for $99?
Mr. Cotter 11-25-2015, 02:35 PM Yes, and two sides of potatoes (or I assume any vegetable). I usually swap the steak for a strip, which they do for a few bucks. The crab comes butterflied, so it's a no work situation. It's pretty spectacular.
Uptowner 11-25-2015, 03:00 PM I was there a couple nights ago. Have been coming here since it opened over 10 years ago. The menu has fluxed a bit. The decor feels really tired. As does the menu. It's probably because I've been over 100 times, but on my last trip after not being struck by either of the specials. I stared at the menu for what felt like an hour not really liking the sound of anything. Got the sea bass, it was alright. The management and service, however, are solid, some of the best in town. I just wish Joe would give it a shot in the arm. It's still a great place and I love that it's in my neighborhood. But weighing the options now vs a decade ago and it's hard to get me excited about it.

Can understand your sentiment knowing how often you frequent the place. My wife and I get there about once a month and its one of our favorites. If you haven't tried the meatloaf and the blackened trout do so. They're both a nice change. The meatloaf is the best I've had at any OKC restaurant.

Pretty much this. We just kind of lost interest. It's not a cheap joint. We don't mind paying for great food. The menu has become tired. We can cook a better steak at home.
I do like it; we just don't eat there any more.
Roger S 11-30-2015, 08:09 AM If you are in the mood for comfort food and can get your hands on one of their chicken pot pies.... I highly recommend doing so.

Have you had Kitchen 324's chicken pot pie?

I have and I definitely enjoy anything with a fried chicken leg sticking out of it... lol

Both. Especially if you're buying! ;+)

If I ever get invited to any of the OKCtalk outings, I'll make note of it =)

I actually went to Paseo and had their pot pie for lunch yesterday.... I enjoy them both so I don't have a favorite.... I also enjoy the hobo pie they serve at Kamps 1910 but it can be hard to get some days because they only make so many a day.
Teo9969 12-01-2015, 04:46 PM Went here for the first time the other night. It was a nice experience overall.
My thoughts are that, while I'm admittedly spoiled with great meat, I found the duck and the chicken to be pretty underwhelming. What I did *not* find remotely underwhelming was any vegetable that I consumed. The carrots are the best I've ever had, the Avocado Crab salad was great, and the fried green beans addicting. I also love that they offer 3 oz wine pours, just wish they'd improve their by the glass selection. I also don't remember many Oklahoma beers on their list.
Would definitely return under the right circumstances, but I can absolutely see how someone would call for a shot in the arm. It seems like the lesser brother of The Metro.
