W - Whitaker's Grocery, several locations but I went to high school with several who worked at the NW 39th location in Warr Acres where AutoZone is now.

Here's one to kick off 2010. What major department store had a location on the corner of NW 63rd and May before the late 1990s?
I don't ever remember a "major" department store (Dillard's, Foley's/Macy's, Sears, JC Penney, etc.) there. French Market Mall had a Venture store (I don't think they replaced it with a K-Mart after their takeover) and nothing but smaller stores in the mall, the NE corner had a Safeway long ago and CompUSA during the period mentioned, the SW corner had a Burlington before it moved over to French Market Mall along with Akin's and Petsmart and before that it was various clubs, the NW corner had a Kerr-McGee station.

OP didn't say it had to be a defunct business, he said "how far back". Horn's has been there a long time and so still stands as the H in this series. ; ) Hagee's is still fair game for the next round!
