Generals64 - I remember a Kinberling's store at NW 23rd & Portland where Hancock Fabrics was located for years. It closed in the early 70's.

Kimberling was (no offense to anyone) involved with Penn Square Bank and was banking there during the the disaster. The last store I remember him having was at 23rd/Meridian and then Snyder's bought it and made quite a nice store....Now Crest Foods has a great operation there....

Black's Barber Shop. Between SW 24 and 25th. West side of the street. One of those business where the owners lived in back. That guy had some stories about the growth of Capitol Hill......

I think the Portland store closed when the Windsor Hills location opened.
