So does anybody eat at this joint anymore? My old man says it used to be good 20 or 30 years ago, had good chicken fried steak sandwiches and what not.
It's over there on South High street, High and SW44th abouts, near I-35.
I was just curious about it

Me and my dad used to eat there every weekend maybe 15 years ago. It was good then. I drive by it occasionaly and wonder if its still decent. Would be curious as well to hear any recent reviews.

went there about 15 years ago, too... i don't remember it being too bad... but then again i guess it wasn't good enough to go back on a regular basis. will have to try it again.

In my opinion, The Onion Barrel, Del Rancho, Chuck House are all about the same, lot's of breading with a little beef thrown in for good measure.
If you go tomorrow, it will probably tatse the same as 15 years ago, I'm sure they are still using the same grease!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ive seen places on those travel channel shows that have been using the same greese for 50 years or more....
I'm sorry but I disagree with you. Chuck House has a great chicken fry, it does have a good amount of breading, which is part of what makes a good chicken fry. Those little thin ones with barely any breading are so weak. You want it big and crunchy. And there is plenty of beef underneath there.

You won't be disapointed, lightly breaded and pan fried.

If your ever in the area, theres a place called Sunrise Cafe in Nicoma Park. On NE 23rd St. I used to eat there twice a week with my dad until he passed away. Every bit as good as Cattlemans and a lot more reasonable. They're only open for breakfast and lunch so get there early. It's exactly like my mom used to make.

I think I'll try this place tomorrow, I'm ready to get out of the house for a while, just wish it was warm enough to ride the Harley!!!

If they haven't changed anything, on Friday the chicken fry is the special.
