Hey! Let's review our memories of cruising N.W. 39th Expressway.
My favorite places were
1. Charcoal Oven
1. Bonapartes
OR
1. Bonapartes
1. Charcoal Oven
We'd buy a burger at one and a drink at the other. They were both fantastic
and impressed the girls... or those hard up for a date.
What do you remember? Let's try to keep it between 1965 - 1975. But if it
isn't, just let us know when your cruised the strip.

1965 I was more worried about going to Viet Nam than cruisin 39th st. 1966 got married by 1975 had kids and was playing Cowboy (dumb idea) in Central Texas. Yep PapaOU....I lived in Texas for 10 years......So, I didn't have to go to Viet Nam....But, 2 weeks ago the Lady General and I ate at Charcoal Oven....$18.00 for 2 burgers, 1 fry, and 2 soft drinks........Yeah I'm going go back there and eat again.....Maybe take my own sandwich or something....The burger was good though.....39th st. let's see there is nothing but houses on 39th st. Now if you go 5 blocks further South you hit 44th st. and there was Al 'n Dub's....the bowling Alley, Reding Shopping Center....there was a lot to do there.....$18.00 for burgers??????

Ann's has been there a long time. Over 35 years. Does anyone know when it
first opened? There might be a plaque or something.

We ate at Ann's regularly in the 70's. In fact it may have been around 71 or
72 when it became a regular on the list.

I took my wife there when we were up there in February, she liked it and wondered why I hadn't taken her there before...like many places in town.
I also cruised 39th starting in 1980 , usually parked in the drive at the old Cable Mazda.
