I didn't see a thread for the 2009 Girlie Show, so, I thought I'd start one. It was this past weekend (Nov. 4-5, 2009).

Did anyone go? It was absolutely packed on Friday night (so much I was worried about fire code violations) so I'm sure at least some folks on this board happened to be there. If so, what were your thoughts?

As for me, I thought it was great in spirit, however, the extreme crowdedness sort of hindered the whole experience, in combo with a lack of chairs, and thus we were a little disappointed.

Food was eh, I was very disappointed by The Wedge/Deep Fork/Drunken Fry/Cafe Nova table, it was just cold soggy pizza and some hummus and I KNOW they can provide better fare than that. It was just a crime. Sara Sara cupcakes were awesome, as was the salad plate from coolgreens (the staff running the table were also great to watch, they were really on the ball). Sushi samples (In the Raw was the one I tried) are always a winner.

Art this year was amazing, and I grabbed many business cards as I could to do some online shopping, because actual shopping with the crowds was just impossible.

Overall, I'm thinking the show was great, and the Farmers Market Building is an awesome idea (and looked great with all the lighting), but with the increasing number of people attending every year they should really consider a larger venue, one with seating and a better flow path.

My husband and I went Friday night as well. I was so surprised to see so many people there. I am not sure what I was expecting but I guess it just goes to show if you put on a cool event and have the right advertising people will show. I grabbed a whole handful of Bedre Chocolates to put in my purse. I also got a real nice veggie taco from Big Truck and there were also some cupcakes downstairs that were from Norman I think as well as Sara Sara that were divine.
