We now have a camera set up in the Oklahoma Tower.
The image is updated every minute. You may need to refresh your browser to see the most recent version. This will be a fatantastic vantage point once the structure starts rising from the ground.
Hopefully people will continue to post detailed images on the other Devon Tower thread and perhaps we can get more cameras up in the future.
bombermwc 10-21-2009, 03:45 PM Yes! Is this in Oklahoma Tower? Say like 12th floor or so?
Richard at Remax 10-21-2009, 04:21 PM do you have a url or is it accessed only through this thread?
Only through this thread.
metro 10-21-2009, 04:25 PM Pete, you're a genius, now let the OKC Talk advertising campaign begin!
ksearls 10-21-2009, 04:25 PM Very cool!
Kim
Decious 10-21-2009, 04:27 PM Nice! Thanks to the people responsible for this cam.
lonestarstatesux 10-21-2009, 04:41 PM Is there a log being kept of all the pictures so that at some point in the future a fast-forward video could be produced of the construction?
OUGrad05 10-21-2009, 05:10 PM Is there a log being kept of all the pictures so that at some point in the future a fast-forward video could be produced of the construction?
Thats what I was about to ask.
OKCisOK4me 10-21-2009, 05:15 PM Is this cam going to be transmitting all minutes of the day or will it operate only during daylight hours?
CCOKC 10-21-2009, 05:24 PM Very cool! Leave it to you to get things done.
It should be up 24/7.
And I'll try to save periodic images so we can later put together a time lapse.
betts 10-21-2009, 10:50 PM Wow, yes it's all dark there now. Very cool. I drove by this morning and saw the mysterious styrofoam forms assembled in the southwest quadrant. There was also a cement truck there, but I couldn't tell what they were pouring. Should have looked at the camera here.
Insider 10-22-2009, 08:23 AM There was also a cement truck there, but I couldn't tell what they were pouring.
...ummm, maybe cement...
(lol, couldn't resist)
russellc 10-22-2009, 09:01 AM No, it was probably concrete. Cement is just a component of concrete.
sorry, my mom worked for Dolese and that is a big no-no there
FritterGirl 10-22-2009, 09:20 AM Nice! Thanks to the people responsible for this cam.
Ditto! Applause, Applause! Thanks to everyone who's helping.
I'll try to take some "ground zero" pics as I can since I'm in the area a lot, but I know they won't at all compare to this. What a thrill to have a moment by moment documentary of this historic event.
BRAVO!!
DaveSkater 10-22-2009, 09:24 AM .ps You place concrete, you POUR beer. LOL
MadMonk 10-22-2009, 10:32 AM Easiest prediction of the year: This thread's "views count" will dwarf all other threads. :LolLolLol
Yeah, I was just thinking that about the number of views.
As long as the camera remains operational, we'll blow through the previous record of 72,000.
Steve 10-22-2009, 12:10 PM Very, very nice job guys. I'm still hoping to get a live-streaming video cam set up, and I'll let you know how that goes.
OKC74 10-22-2009, 01:09 PM Maybe I'm not clear...but...is the base of the tower only as big as where they are currently digging? I know the atrium, etc, are going west of the tower, but it doesn't look like they've cleared any of the west end of the parking deck...? And not that the area they're currently digging is SMALL by any means...I just imagined the base taking up more space than where they currently are digging, meaning in order to start the base of the tower that more of the parking deck would have to be gone. Does anyone know?

It just looks small because the image is far away - it's a really big space - just compare it to other buildings, cars, etc.
gen70 10-22-2009, 01:20 PM Easiest prediction of the year: This thread's "views count" will dwarf all other threads. :LolLolLol I'll be watching from Asheville N.C.. Thanks!
gen70 10-22-2009, 01:25 PM I haven't been in downtown OKC in about 20 yrs.. Is that the Black Hotel on the right side of cam. image?
OKC74 10-22-2009, 01:35 PM Ok cool - thanks OURULZ. So the space they've cleared is the tower, and the rest, where the parking deck still is, will be for the atrium, etc, correct? Any word why they didn't clear ALL of the deck before starting to dig for the tower?
DelCamino 10-22-2009, 01:51 PM I haven't been in downtown OKC in about 20 yrs.. Is that the Black Hotel on the right side of cam. image?
Yes, that's it. It's been converted to office use and is now known as the One North Hudson building.

They still have not actually started digging for the tower. That is just the bottom of the old garage. They are still removing debris from the site. They are tearing down the structure in the order of importance for times sake. The primary portion was where the tower will go. While they were tearing that down, they were re-inforcing the west side of the existing garage (that is being expanded...out of view of the camera). They started tearing down the west side of the garage yesterday and are now reinforcing along the rest of the site in preparation of removing the rest of the parking deck. I spoke to one of the guys today at lunch and he stated that they expect to start on the rest of the garage (where the podium, rotunda, and lawn will go) within the next week or two. He said they have to reinforce along the street before they can tear it down.
warreng88 10-22-2009, 02:13 PM I wonder how far they are going to have to dig down for the foundation of the tower? I remember the WTC's in NYC were 70 feet deep and each of those towers were almost 1,400 feet tall. Using that math, would they need to go down about 40 feet or four stories for this foundation?
OKCisOK4me 10-22-2009, 03:06 PM Okay, somebody's teasing now... get the big red blob off the window please...
hipsterdoofus 10-22-2009, 03:06 PM Someone sabotaged the cam!

Each development is different, depending on the circumstances of the ground beneath, and how far down it is to bedrock.
I've been told the support piers will go down apprx. 150 feet.
ourulz2000 10-22-2009, 03:49 PM Anyone out there with good Photoshop skills? If so, from this camera image angle, put a rendering of Devon Tower where the construction is. That would be cool to see.
Midtowner 10-22-2009, 03:55 PM It would be neat if you could archive all of the images to make a time lapse video of the construction.
hipsterdoofus 10-22-2009, 04:14 PM I'm thinking of going down on the parking garage and holding up a sign.
architect5311 10-22-2009, 04:21 PM Anyone out there with good Photoshop skills? If so, from this camera image angle, put a rendering of Devon Tower where the construction is. That would be cool to see.
I'll try, but from this distance and point of view you would only see the lower floors, maybe up to 20th or so, I'm guessing?
okcmomentum 10-22-2009, 04:56 PM my understanding is Devon will soon have a streaming cam from the top of the Colcord that they now own. i hear they are just waiting until things get moving along more. Glad to see someone setup a cam though. i try to walk over to the site at least once a week at lunch to see the progress. very exciting!
OKCisOK4me 10-22-2009, 06:51 PM It would be neat if you could archive all of the images to make a time lapse video of the construction.
I've made a folder at work and I'm going to do my best to save a pic everyday at, or around, 3PM. For the sake of me not knowing how to do the time lapse video, I'll be happy to email the .zip file to anybody who does!
bbhill 10-22-2009, 09:26 PM That white van has been parked by that streetlight for at least a day now. . .
gen70 10-22-2009, 10:16 PM I love this!...I know this will not be happening rapidly and the excitment will wear off (a little) but. it's still very cool for me to watch this happen over time.

If you have Windows Vista or Windows XP then you have Windows Movie Maker on your PC. It is very easy to use so you should give it a try. Just take the photos and drop them on the timeline.
DelCamino 10-23-2009, 11:33 AM ..
MadMonk 10-23-2009, 11:52 AM Quick test movie from 6:00am to 11:40am today.

Very cool MadMonk!!
Really shows the amount of activity.
Really neat how they rolled out that tarp for the trucks going up and down the dirt ramp.
DaveSkater 10-23-2009, 03:26 PM Awesome Madmonk!
kevinpate 10-23-2009, 04:18 PM what they said!!
:bow::bow::bow:
Doug Loudenback 10-23-2009, 09:48 PM MadMonk, you are not mad at all ... you are GeniusMonk! That is great stuff! You know, of course, that you're now on the hook for much much more!
MadMonk 10-23-2009, 11:09 PM You are too kind Doug. I'll continue to try my best to document as much of this historic event as possible.
gen70 10-24-2009, 01:11 PM Yes, that's it. It's been converted to office use and is now known as the One North Hudson building.
Thanks!!
UnFrSaKn 10-24-2009, 02:04 PM Too bad they can't get a UStream cam up for this. The latest iPhone app version works with 3G. I like amazing people at work with a live view of the Tower Bridge in London on my phone. Freaks people out.
hipsterdoofus 10-24-2009, 08:44 PM camera appears to have quit.
UnFrSaKn 10-24-2009, 09:40 PM Someone must have said, "Oh..what's this computer still doing on..."
Dustin 10-24-2009, 11:18 PM camera no worky!
hipsterdoofus 10-26-2009, 04:27 PM Someone bumped it - pointing a bit left now - wish we could get a little zoom out of it.
http://clip2net.com/clip/m24905/1256592403-clip-35kb.jpg
OKCDrummer77 10-26-2009, 07:06 PM From the angle on Corporate Tower to the left, am I correct in guessing that the webcam is on the 16th floor of Oklahoma Tower?
hipsterdoofus 10-26-2009, 08:34 PM This will be cool when they get the lights out in March - any chance we could get a better camera in for zooming in? Or will this zoom in - sounds like a cause worth of a fund drive :-)
hipsterdoofus 10-27-2009, 08:24 AM Note the smoke from the battery store fire:

metro 10-27-2009, 02:01 PM Is the film on the window causing the purpleish/pinkish hue on the camera? I'm looking downtown the same direction/view the camera is many times a day and sure not seeing the same hues.
Thunder 10-27-2009, 02:49 PM Is that all they are going to clear out, right there in that small square spot? It looks really small, unless it is just the pix that make it look small.
