Several months ago I asked where the best soups were - and folks got it right suggesting ND Foods (I've also discovered Beatnix at NW 13 and Robinson also has great homemade soup). Now I'm wondering if we have any notable places to get a good bowl of chili on a cold rainy day.

I'm a pretty big fan of Iron Starr's not really sure if it's the best, but it's the exact heat, etc that I like in a chili.

I'm pretty partial to Ron's, as in Ron's Hamburgers and Chili. Mayfair, Edmond (Edmond Rd and Santa Fe). It is originally a Tulsa product. Ron at the original Ron's in Tulsa (15th street near Harvard) had one little diner when I first experienced his products. Some friends took me there at about 11:00 one week day. They said we needed to get there before it got busy. It was a hot July day, and there were only about 10 stools at the counter (no other seating). They let me sit first since I was new. Ron was bringing out one of those big pots like you see in the warming wells at cafes, saying this was the third pot (about 3 gallons) he had brought out that day already. I got a bowl of chili, straight up (no beans or other additives). I loved it and still do. His family expanded big time in the Tulsa area and he has done some limited franchising to others, but they still maintain the same flavor and consistency. My favorite is a bowl of chili with some onions, shredded cheese and a few dashes of Melinda's XXXXX habanero sauce (ask for it). Ay chihuahua!

I haven't been there, but I keep hearing about Ron's Hamburgers and Chili.

I concur with the Ron's... My heart can only handle Ron's twice a year. It is very good.

I don't know if Ron's is the best in OKC, but it's really, really good and any chili fan won't be disappointed.
Ron's: they put chili on everything. (and God bless them for that!)
a friend of mine used to say, "you can get chili on your chili at Ron's"
