It's been a month, any lights on the top of the building turned on yet ?

Thanks

Haven't seen anymore LED testing. Letters also not illuminated.

There has been a crane arm extended over the north-facing sign that has been there since sign installation. But no movement as of late.

On the east side, it looks like there are a couple floors of windows that look different than the others. Anyone know what that is, or if it is just an illusion?

The east and west side have different/darker windows a little above the middle. Looks like an earlier post (#1559) states they are HVAC/mechanical floors.

This is correct, those are mechanical floors. I believe the reasons you don't see this in newer buildings is because the mechanicals are typically subgrade in new builds.

How did they look!?

Can't seem to get a photo to upload.

To verbally describe it, I saw it from the northeast side around 9:30-10pm, but looks like they were testing the eastern half (so the whole of the east side, half of the north, and I'm assuming half of the south side). Only had it set to white color. There were two lights in the middle of the east side that weren't lit, and then two or three unlit on the activated half of the north side (just to the left of the 'B'). So, not sure if last night was troubleshooting or identifying if certain lights weren't working.

The BancFirst logo is finally lit up. It is blue as of 5am.
But the “nc” is a darker shade and the “F” is not lit. This is on the south side of tower.

I would say it was still testing and running through patterns . some of the effects looked crazy for sure but have to make sure all the automation works.

Now with this done, all we have to do is wait for the Devon to get it's lighting upgrades finalized so we can see more of our featured skyscraper in the night skyline.

I went down to Scissortail to get a night skyline photo. Unfortunately neither Omni nor BOK towers had their lights on. So will have to wait on those (and yes, Devon in the long run) to get that nice skyline image. Excited to think what the Boardwalk at Bricktown towers can eventually add to this.

BOK eventually turned theirs on when I drove by around 10ish. Not sure why they waited so late in the evening but it looked great.

From this morning... The LED band was shifting colors but I didn't see any sort of animation.

This is going to make a big difference on our skyline:

In the photo on 9-7-23, with the lights in a sequence in the sky, is that a group of StarLink satellites ?

My wife saw them go over sometime last week.

That was a reflection from the bottom lights.
That tends to happen on phone cameras a lot, especially iPhones.

Also, the lights look beautiful tonight with constant animation!
However, a few letters were off on the south side of the tower and the letters were completely off on the north side. Other than that, the LEDs stand out really well.

It really does need some updates on the exterior of the tower. Maybe new, modern glass installation? Or perhaps, being wishful, a total refacade of the entire building to bring it into the 21st century. This tower is still going to be the tallest for-lease office building in Oklahoma City and it needs to mirror that. It's not ugly, but it's not beautiful by any means either.

Looking at this comment from more than a decade ago… it’s amazing how far the tower has came along.
The fact that it says, “modern glass” and “total refacade” as wishful thinking. From its criticism back then to becoming one of the most beautiful buildings behind the Devon Tower! It truly is a wish come true! Someone must have been paying attention!!

I forgot I had even written this, surprised to see myself quoted. I agree, I think this update is a home-run and I love seeing this tower brought back to a pristine state.

Wasn't wishful thinking after all. :o

I was back in town for the OU game last weekend and met up with some friends at Social Capital Friday evening. We sat on the upstairs patio and wow the view was amazing. I kept watching the lighting on the BancFirst crown. It is really well done and of course you add it to First National, Devon, Paycom, Omni, Convention Center, and Skydance Bridge... it's one heck of a beautiful panorama.

It would be nice if City Place would now consider doing a lighting upgrade also. Their lighting is fairly basic.

Agreed. The white lights really highlight the rationalist geometric forms and sharp corners commonly seen in internationalism and late modernist architecture. I can see why it might appear harsh but that’s a feature, not a deviation, of functionalism (form follows function) in the era it was built.

same here. I generally like the multi-color LED look but not every building has to go through the full color spectrum to look nice. I’m just glad it’s consistently lit up again.

I hate even mentioning this, but Saturday night I noticed the lighting on the west side of the top of BOK Park Plaza was about 1/4 out.

They really don't do much with that lighting... Almost always white and is usually turned off relatively early in the evening. It's not like FNC where they have to worry about throwing light into the rooms of apartments.

I like how Living Oklahoma updated their open with the BancFirst Tower. This might be the most up-to-date open/animation of the OKC skyline on TV.
Hope to see others follow through.

I was looking for an "OKC in the media" thread but I figure I'll just stick to this thread. Haha

What's weird is they can do much more with it but they don't. On the 4th of July it was lit in red, white and blue.
